I wanted to share the gofundme supporting the family of Nolan Xavier Wells, a Mississippi teenager and college student who was killed under suspicious circumstances on a 4th of July day trip to Horn Island, Missisippi. He was last seen at 3 pm. He was reported missing that night, and his body was recovered two days later.
This money collected from this will be used first to cover memorial costs, and to support his family during this grieving period. The family has also retained a lawyer to ensure that this young man's death is properly investigated.
Additionally, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office has asked that anyone who may have witnessed his death or the circumstances before or surrounding, to please come forward.

I wanna be clear this isn't about any one blog and it isn't just about color-censoring pseudonyms! For example, I have seen blogs use colored speech bubbles or colored text to denote who's speaking or thinking at a given time with no other indicators. This can be especially confusing when a back and forth exchange occurs, there's no speech at all (symbols and feelings and such), or it's unexpected in context (say, one member's thoughts/feelings start "bleeding through" someone else's speech)
A comment pointed out that a lot of these comics are meant as semi-private diaries. But if your comic is not that, and you mean for it to be read and enjoyed by others (we& do!), consider accessibility!
After this got posted...even on a short scroll thru the #plural comics tag, I've already seen a few big system comics (more popular than mine) start adopting symbols/chibi-faces with text, written out names, and so on. Making sure that color isn't the only thing conveying information makes their comics more accessible! Thank you @orchardsys and @theweathersystem!!

A more preferable compliment and acknowledgment is to say that. "You don't deserve these things happening to you." because whether pr not she's upset, angry, hurt, confused, etc, she shouldn't have to be strong or calm or be commended for either.
"You deserve peace" is also a good one. I know, she IS strong, but even if she "lost her mind" on them hoes, she would still be strong and still deserve peace. Just. Wish Black people things of good spirit instead of complimenting their strength and stability in the wake of racism and judgement.

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
