I won’t deny I’m gonna miss you when you’re gone
*gently takes your face in my hands* hey. remember that fandom is for fun. if you're not having fun it is ok to step back. if you're intentionally making it unfun for others it is ok to step back. none of this is real. go sit in the sun and smell a flower. i love you.
1 & 22 for the ask game?
1. the character everyone gets wrong
i was going to say maruki but the person i asked already said maruki so. I'm going to think of a different character: futaba! the thing with futaba is that people have a tendency to accidentally erase her depth in favour of making her the "chronically online gamer girl" which isn't out of character!
her "gamer girlz hacker skillz" is very much a part of her character but people sometimes don't acknowledge how these skills come about (due to isolation and a response from trauma!). there's a reason why she's one of the few characters that the narrative gives extra emphasis to her parallels to akechi (mother backstory and their main motivations), and the reason is because she soughts revenge! futaba's motif is actually most aligned with with the original phantom thieves motif (changing hearts as a means for revenge). futaba can be kind but she isn't always, she has a rather one-dimensional view of the world and black-and-white thinking, which leads her to saying things like "akechi goro is evil" to sae in the interrogation room scene (yes this is a very tense moment but even drugged-out joker still has the option to say that the bm is not too different from the pts in one of the cutbacks between arcs, and futaba is the pt who explicitly knows about akechi's past), and her whole motif about finding her mother's murderer to exact revenge (because atp she presumes it's a grown adult man). she's also hesitant when working with akechi and she says "you can still change" to akechi in the engine room scene vs haru's "I don't forgive you but i understand how you ended up in this situation and are willing to let you join us", and her somewhat apathetic response to akechi's death behind the shutter (just reporting on his status, doing her job, instead of getting emotional) which isn't her fault!
But at the same time, she does come to an understanding! in the cut safe room dialogues, futaba Does say something along the lines of what haru says, which implies that when futaba is better able to process things away from a distanve, she can accept things more. She does put most of the blame on shido and recognises that things are his fault. Which is why i also don't fully accept any sort of characterisation where she just wants akechi to suffer forever (mostly for angst purposes, even though there are ways to handle it well). i lost my point but this is definitely something i think about a lot
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
the wakaba isshiki mamakechi doomed yuri backstory scenes why do no one else talk about them Honestly, it'd genuinely really have to be naoto being the one suggesting killing a man out of a desire for revenge and a way to end the crimes. like i genuinely don't think there's any iconic scene crucial to a character's characterisation that gets more ignored that this one. it really shows that the detective princes aren't so different after all (killing someone at 15 for the sake of revenge)
wrath and lust

1, 2, 10, 22, 25 (entire persona series) for the choose violence ask game (eyes)
Thank you <3333 This game has been so much fun!! (from this ask game)
the character everyone gets wrong
Answered on my other ones!!! (This one is just. Important, obviously hahahah) Copying it here:
TBH? Most interpretations of Maruki. He's honestly just extremely self-concerned. He's not really thinking of anyone else's perspectives when he's considering right or wrong. (Also, he's always right, anyway.) He's ignorant, has negative levels of self-esteem and looks to have others to fill the gap for both his self-perception and to validate the fragile bit of confidence in his "goodness". All of his choices were with himself and his own search for meaning and self-confidence in mind in first place. So, seeing him as some misunderstood guy with a heart of gold who made bad decisions is not correct, but also seeing him as some evil manipulator is also kinda... Too extreme.
2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
This is a hilarious question. Goro Akechi would never bottom because that is too vulnerable of a position and he would never be caught dead slipping. This is fine by Akiren because "sure, ok, whatever you want, but, uh, stop stalling"
10. worst part of fanon
(Copying this one, too, from my other post!!) Honestly I can't stand so many Akiren fanon interpretations because I'm a massive Hater. There's this specific type of Akiren I see all the time that is just... "wet paper bag" and I think it's the way people write the differences between Akiren and Goro that kind of boils down to emotionally intelligent vs emotionally constipated and instead of it coming across as being more in-tune with himself (which is at times a debatable concept to begin with), it ends up being like... extremely emotional over very benign things comparatively to how stoic and coolheaded he manages to present under pressure and around others. I'm honestly of the opinion that both of them are way more comfortable with showing anger than any other "negative"/"uncomfortable" emotion IF they'd show a feeling in such extremes (around others) to begin with. Ofc nuances aside: basically I just hate big wet shojo heartbreak tears Akiren (being denied his own agency and ability to take charge of his own life? what were the games themes again???) put on repeat constantly in the same fic lol. Like, let's have some moderation here it's losing the impact.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
LETS GET PERSONA 4 WITH IT. The fact that Naoto is willing to kill a guy in one of the bad endings. Can we talk about this? Like, Naoto is not the unbiased/unfaltering arbiter of justice and equity. None of the justice arcana are TRULY neutral characters who know right and wrong-- they're impulsive, biased, and honestly vengeful. Naoto's just the best one at keeping it together, normally.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
My god. If I see one more person act like having strict top/bottom dynamics is the average experience and everyone should tag and label accordingly is a standard expectation I will blow up in my seat. The yaoi in my head is arguing for dominance and whatever happens on paper is simply not my decision nor black and white enough for a tag.
