There’s actually an online store that has revolving bookshelves very similar to the third image and I got one!
Also included is my cat inspecting the storage space!
to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Great time to start pricing this out by the way, fire season starts… on the summer solstice this year, that’s fun. Signs point to it being a doozy.

Me, tears streaming down my face, sobbing, as I stare at the stars: it’s just so beautiful
The medieval peasant I went back in time to give a bag of Doritos to, concerned: what terrible and powerful sorcerers they must have in your age, to be able to veil the vault of heaven itself from view, as you say
Me, sniffling: I didn’t realize, I can’t, it’s so much, I, I… are the chips good, at least?
Medieval peasant, trying to make me feel better: they’re… magical, strange traveler

Y’all ok?
No. I want the night sky back. I want sparrows back. I want to see as many butterflies as I did when I was a child. I want fucking insects to go splat on my fucking windshield because at least that means there's insects. I want the woods I grew up in to not have died. I want "oh look, a plane!" back instead of "wow, I can't see a single plane in the sky, weird." I want clothes that survive being washed and washing machines that survive being used. I want to not see overpriced strawberries from Egypt rotting on the supermarket shelf when it's not strawberry season. I want tomatoes that taste like tomatoes.
I'm so sick of the world they made for us.
someday earth will have both universal vaccines and a night sky, and it'll be wonderful
Fuck that post going around saying "you can have coffee in your story without justifying it :) you don't need to explain everything :)" I want, no, I DEMAND a fully researched ethnobotanical paper on every single food item in your work, if you don't explain to me where did potatoes come from in your fantasy setting or don't explain how the industry of coffee works over interstellar distances with full detail you are doing things wrong and I personally hate you and I hate your stupid story, fuck you
Why are your stupid little wizards and knights eating potato stew in your dumb European middle ages fantasy world. Where did they get potatoes from. Where is the center of domestication of potatoes, do you have a fantasy Andean civilization? What are the social and economic consequences of having such a calorie rich crop in cold climates. I don't care about "themes" or "enemies to lovers with found family", I didn't ask about that. Where does your idiot space captain gets their shitty coffee from. Is it imported from Earth? Are there coffee growing worlds? Is it an alien species replacement with the same name? What are the social consequences of that? Don't try to change the subject, I'll stop pointing the gun when I want, I'm trying to have a conversation here,

Who are the Real Domestic Terrorists? ICE Agent Kills Woman in Minneapolis by Shooting Her in the Face
WASHINGTON - Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says that Renee Good, the mom shot dead in the face in Milwaukee by ICE agent Jonathan Ross was a “domestic terrorist.” Noem argued that Good tried to run Ross over with her car on Jan. 7 during an ICE operation.
Video says otherwise. For starters, it is the ICE agents that look like terrorists. They wear masks and brandish weapons to terrorize the population. While the video does not show Good, it does show her vehicle. It is sideways on a public street and already close to an unidentified agent while Ross – contrary to basic law enforcement training – stands partially in front of the car's drivers side instead of completely to the side. ABC has recently aired a video of the first agent grabbing the driver's door and ordering her to get out of the car (though his voice was barely audible). Good speaks to Ross, smiling and briefly chatting with him, saying what sounds like, "We're not upset with you." Good then attempts to drive away as the first agent attempts to forcefully open her front door. Ross then fired multiple rounds directly into the window and windshield and Ross’s car crashes into another, coming to a stop.
Notably, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey described Noem’s story as “bullshit” and famously said, “To ICE. Get the f--- out of Minneapolis. We don’t want you here.”
Frey also argued, “We know that the underlying intention of ICE is not safety, it's not reducing crime, what it is, is to cause chaos and disruption in our city. Clearly they want to deploy additional military resources, and we're not gonna take the bait."
And, the Department of Justice reportedly has, to this point, kept local and state law enforcement agencies from gaining access to the scene to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, the Administration tried to steer the media to the “f-bomb” dropped by Frey. Frey owned that and pointed out that there’s a significant difference between cursing and killing somebody.
That it has to be said is disturbing. Fortunately, even one of MAGA’s own – Tucker Carlson – has chided conservatives by asking,“How come so few conservatives are viewing this story through a human lens?” He added, “A woman was shot in the face.”
Under Donald Trump, federal law enforcement are no longer our protectors; instead they terrorize our neighbors in their communities. They bully. They kill. Recently, we learned and reported that a Bulgarian Chicago business owner dies in ICE custody, sparking calls for ‘immediate investigation’. It does not matter if they wear a badge. The agents of tyrants often do. This is why we must know our rights. We are far more likely to be successful in opposing this tyrannical administration if we all simply refuse to comply with roaming bandits in armored vehicles posing as patriots, daring to wear the American flag on their uniforms as they violate Americans’ rights, widely and regularly.
This is not an enforcement action; it is a provocation. The tactics, behavior and body language of the feds, especially in this video, reveal it. If you doubt it, if the roles were reversed you must realize that most people would presume the citizen guilty of murdering a police officer.
So, basic human decency and common sense require that we ask of ourselves – who are the real terrorists?
As we do so, let’s consider the passionate and bold statement of Mayor Frey, the person elected by the people of Minneapolis to lead their city: “ … where something horrific takes place, they (ICE), from the get-go, say this is domestic terrorism. Domestic terrorism? Give me a break, this woman was trying to leave."

Please take this story's moral not as "this woman was being stupid and shortsighted" or "this is a problem you as an individual fix by making your health more of a priority"
But as "a society that puts anyone in this position must be transformed in a fundamental way".
No offense but where are the male porn bots
..and where are all the gods?
where’s the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white guy to clutter up my feed?
Late at night I scroll and I block and I dream of what I need
I need a manwhore! 💥💥💥💥
Can someone PLEASE answer my question
Fun fact!
In 2011 Florida passed a drug test requirement bill for public benefits.
It was struck down by higher courts but here's two things we learned while it was in effect.
Very few people on benefits were on drugs. Turned out drugs are expensive and the idea that everyone in poverty is on drugs is just classism bull shit.
They spent FARRR more on testing than they saved on kicking people off the benefits. So it is about making the poor miserable and not about saving money. Don't ever let them bull shit you into thinking otherwise.
Lastly, the company contracted to do the testing was owned by the governor who signed the bill. So he made millions. But don't worry! He gave the company to his wife a month earlier to clear the extremely low standards of his republican base. Wouldn't want them thinking he's corrupt and sold them on this bull shit to enrich himself. This was back when some of them might have actually cared.
getting lost in boston is fun because I turned around on a street corner three times and some guy yelled "hey stupid! the bus is that way!" very helpful interaction and accurate insult, 10/10 no notes
one time I walked around a building a couple times looking for a bathroom and this guy went "this bitch thinks she's on a merrygoround, where the fuck are you tryna go? bathroom? one floor down to the right behind the door that says bathroom."
My very first time in Boston. I was absolutely miserable, trying to drag my giant suitcase up a lengthy set of stairs in the pouring rain. This guy who had already reached the top looked back at me with the most pure expression of disgust I’ve ever seen in anyone’s eyes, marched back down the stairs, grabbed my suitcase, carried it to the top, left it there for me, and walked away without ever saying a word. I think about him often.
For the people in the notes going "why is Boston like this": a) the insults are a way to show you have no ulterior motives when helping someone (and don't need to be thanked or repaid), and b) Boston was settled by the Irish
God I fucking miss Boston 🤣

what is the MAGIC
it’s called mochi!
it’s like ice cream in a soft skin!
also, it’s fucking amazing!
This is もちアイス (mochiaisu) and the “soft skin” is pounded rice cake. The white stuff you see on the outside is powdered sugar so they won’t get sticky. It’s very delicious on a hot day and you can get these at the right self-serve frozen yogurt joints. Unfortunately North America sells one mochiaisu for a dollar and some cents whereas in Japan you can get these by the boxful in any supermarket.
Want it. Nnh
you can make it yourself at home folks! Mochi is really simple to make, all you have to do is take 2 cups rice flower, mix with 1 cup water and ½ cup sugar, boil it in a pot or put in a ceranwrap covered bowl and put in microwave for 7 minutes. turn off the heat and stir it until it becomes solid and sticky. Then you can roll it into balls with a little bit of rice flour on top to keep it from being too sticky. Then you can eat it just like that, cover a scoop of ice cream and freeze it to make this, or you can make Strawberry Daifuku which is strawberries and red bean paste (anko) wrapped in mochi. I make it all the time!
Aww damn i gotta do this!!
Waaaaant. You’d find them in regular supermarkets in Seattle. Out here? Not so much. :(

Mochi is great! And sold at Wegmans.
These are on my ‘to try’ list. I’ve seen them at Aldi’s for anyone looking
It' still feels kind of odd to me that people in my boyfriend's family just don't say "thank you". It's just not a habit that they have, they don't thank each other for small favours or for doing things they already agreed to do.
When we first started dating, my boyfriend would often answer "why?" or "for what?" when I thanked him for something nice that he did, and I was just as confused by his reaction as he had been with me thanking him for something as little as making me a cup of coffee, every single time he did that, even though he did so every morning. At first I thought it was just a him-thing, but once I got to know his family better, I noticed that it really just isn't their custom.
It took me a bit longer to understand that saying thank you for something is something they'll do for unexpected things, like an unprompted gift that someone got you because they saw something little at the market that they thought that you'd like, or running an errand for you that you had been procrastinating but never asked them to do. When someone goes out of their way to do something that they had no obligation at all to do for you.
And they don't see helping family as an optional favour, it's just what you do, just like eating from plates and wearing shoes on your feet. Being thanked for something so obvious would be downright insulting, like someone thanking you for flushing the toilet or your boss thanking you for showing up for work sober when you've never given indication that you might ever do otherwise.
For them, being helped by family, and helping them in return, isn't a rare treat or special privilege, but a beyond obvious fact of life.
