What great 4K experience..... Ok so I had high hopes for Loki, and so far the show has surpassed them. This first episode started out with a bang and was SO good and SO fun. My partner even enjoyed it, even though she’s not typically a super hero movie fan. I enjoyed every intricate detail, including how they incorporated the Marvel movie back story into the show. Tom Hiddleston never disappoints in this role, but the Time Keeper storyline and everything to do with that world has been done so well. We were delighted with everything from the acting to the way that world is such an amalgamation of the 50s and the far future. I have been a fan of superhero movies since the 70s when I first watched Christopher Reeve as Superman as a kid. I’ve found that quite a few superhero shows and movies have not lived up to that standard. Marvel definitely has managed to meet or even surpass my expectations with this show (and many of their other offerings). These for me personally are: The Stunning Visuals - They are very intone with the viking theme and feel of the game and are just generally amazing. In some ways they even sort of Out do Odyssey, partly because they look a bit more polished, and partly because they have a more 'natural' feel to them. Viking Culture - this aspect in my opinion is done more or less flawlessly, from the look of the characters down to the very small, but entertaining dialogue moments while sailing to raid locations. It very much feels like you're playing an episode of Vikings, and I think that definitely says something. I also love how you can use the some of the resources you raid to build up your own settlement, which adds to the authentic viking experience. The Combat - Although not as varied and stylised as Odyssey, it still manages to be fun and engaging thanks to it's gritty realism (I swear everytime I see a head go flying I have moment of sheer adulterated bliss).
