it just. makes me think about when âantiâ in general was just a term used for people who didnât like the same ships as you, so âantis DNIâ just meant âhey I donât want to fight with you about a ship I like that you donâtâ but now a lot of fandom youngâuns take it directly as âyou like gross stuff and are a p*doâ if they see it in your bio or content

Anyway, this is just me popping in to say: Iâve started a new blog completely from scratch. I used my main twitter tag @apanda013 for it (wow, a whole 1 letter difference) just so I donât have to use a different stamp for art and stuff.
That blog is mostly going to be for art and other stuff thatâs more current if I do use it much, but I donât want to delete this one largely in part to all the stuff it has. Thereâs definitely moments Iâm not proud of and moments I would never go back to, and even fandom stuff I wouldnât return to, but itâs still part of what made me who I am today so Iâm wanting to keep it, kind of as an archive or something?
ANYWAY. I only have an intro post over on that new blog but if you like my stuff, check it (or my twitter) out! Itâs likely to contain more FFXIV stuff, since that game is the only thing thatâs kept me somewhat sane for the last year.

My mom remarked recently that of all the things she failed to anticpate about living into the next millenium, the funniest and most confusing one is that neither my sister nor I have a single goddamn friend with a conventional name, and furthmore, she occasionally has to stop and ask âWhich âSquidâ are we talking about again?â
Whatâs funny is that we have no friends with conventional names for the exact same reason, but in opposite directions. I have an online presence where I know all my friends, even the ones Iâve known for over a decade and whose house Iâve been to, as their usernames first and only, because weâre using them to keep our online and public lives separate. A lot of my friends are trans, and only out online so for their safety I have gone out of my way to avoid learning deadnames or mixing any IRL identities they havenât expressly stated can be shared.
My sister worked as a summer camp counselor and youth educator and everyone went by fake names specifically so
1. The campers wouldnât look them up on Facebook and see pics of the adult counselors, well, acting like adults- having a beer, complaining about dating etc.
2. Because the state she worked in had mandatory reporting laws if they even suspected abuse, and itâs a lot harder for a kid to identify you to a vengeful abusive parent if they donât know your real name.
So my sister and her friends all have second names to keep their public and online lives separate, but this time itâs the IRL people using the second name.
Which means that, independently, we each developed a friendship with someone who goes by âSquidâ.
Mom has helpfully pointed out that in addition to the Two Squids:
I know a Spider, my sister has a Tarantula and they are both in the process of getting doctorates, one in genetics the other in robotics and her brain has helpfully conflated them into a single budding mad scientitst who is building Mutant Cyborg Arachnids.
She used to be able to keep track of who knew who because I had the large international cadre, and Sisterâs friends were all from the PNW. Last year, Sister and a number of her friends moved internationally so now the Australians, Germans and Irish are starting to run together for her.
We havenât even told her that one of my French People, âPondsâ has met and is kinda-sorta dating Sisterâs International-Masterâs-Degree-In-France âFrogâ. Â
I inherited my night-owl tendencies from my mom so sometimes she would come down, see me on the computer and ask âHow are the Australians?â. My sister has since moved to Australia and likes to call in and ask âSo How are the Americans?â
âWhich one of you has the Porcupine again?â
This situation is FURTHER compounded by my Dad having both Theater People Who-All-Have-The-Same-Six-Names-Because-They-Were-Born-In-The-50âČs-So-They-Have-To-Be-Referred-To-By-Roles-Mom-Has-Seen-Them-Play-Onstage, AND his Civil Activist Friends that got started in the 60âČs when it was OK to change your name to something like âVirtueâ or âPasadena Orange Blossomâ so recently âFalstaffâ is in a facebook fight with âRolling Stoneâ about Colorado Weed Law.Â
âI couldnât imagine trying to explain this to your grandpa. He barely understood email. Grandma though, she wouldnât have blinked at two names. Probably would have suggested you have another three and attempt to defraud the IRS.â

but by darker side, do you mean just a place of anger/rage/all those negative emotions that come bundled all nice and neat together? because i would definitely still say yes.
Lucyâs been through a lot, and she has grown for it. But if you pushed the right buttons (or the wrong ones), sheâd probably tip over the edge. Sheâs lost a lot of things that are dear to her, and if just enough of whatâs left is threatened or taken from her I definitely think sheâd cross into that darker side. She is clever, smart, devious, and despite what some people might think, Lucy is STRONG, so just imagine her putting her energy and effort into making someone HURT.
She could do it, and sheâd be so damn good at it.
Push her far enough, and Lucy could probably torment you. I can see her being good at playing mind games, with some practice. She knows where to dig where it hurts.
Like. I donât know about you but I donât wanna be on Lucy Heartfiliaâs bad side. EVER.
