Marinette had been walking home from the park when she saw Chat, legs dangling over the roof of a cookie cutter building next to an alleyway.
She purses her lips, squinting as she puzzles out a path to him. Stepping on a cinderblock, she carefully maneuvered on top of a recycling bin, using it to push herself up, hands gripping the gutter pipe so tightly her knuckles turned white.
She realized, in hindsight, this probably wouldn’t end well without the added agility her miraculous provided. Oh well. It was too late now.
Testing her weight on an air conditioner, she clambers quickly- too quickly- up to throw herself halfway onto the roof.
A grunt escaped her, the wind having been knocked out of her.
Blue pigtails bouncing, she braces her feet on a windowsill, swinging one knee up! Two- two- two knees-
“Hey Chaton,” she groans, wheezing. “A little help?”
He jumped back from her, a high-pitched meow escaping from his lips. Marinette laughs, instantly regretting in as her stomach scrapes against the ledge of the roof.
“Yeah-yeah! We wouldn’t want this to turn into a cat-astrophe, would we?” He jokes, scrambling over to scoop her up onto her feet.
“Thanks,” she says, dusting off her clothes as she sits. “What are you doing up here anyway? I didn’t think patrols started until … later.”
Oh god, oh god. What a stupid slip! How was she going to explain-
“You noticed?” Chat Noir whispers, eyes wide and sparkling. Was there a cat equivalent to puppy-dog eyes? Kitty-cat eyes? Because they were melting her heart.
