I can't help but think about how much political discourse is about how people look while expressing their opinions more than what those opinions are. If you get too upset while defending women's rights you're a screaming blue hair sjw, and suddenly all you are is a caricature of an annoying person. Meanwhile people say shit about how Charlie Kirk "did political debates the right way" because he performed civility and rationality, even though the viewpoints he was trying to push were deeply racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic, christian nationalist, and just all-around bad and violent ideas, but because he was semi-polite about it that makes it okay.
