yeah its real... i wish i could find the tumblr post i got this advice from myself ages ago because its got great examples in it. but essentially it stops you from just needing to trace your own sketch. like stops you from attempting to recreate marks youve aready drawn and just provides you scaffolding for making new ones in a much more dynamic and less finicky way. kind of hard to describe but i just recommend trying it for yourself and seeing how it feels.

these were all drawn without reference btw. i can just. Understand Hands now (for the most part, im sure theres definitely inaccuracies). im a little baffled

Please don't impose that expectation on yourself just because of a live demo, tiktok, or timelapses especially

Here’s a background tutorial that was intended to hand out to the painters on Over the Garden Wall…I’m actually not sure if I ever did (maybe German or Levon can chime in on this) Anyway, I whipped this up super fast in the early days of pre-production and it might be of interest or help to some aspiring digital painters out there. 

(if you can't find the correct line tool, right click on one of the tools in your tool palette and go to add from default, and add correct line)
