Yokaitober 2025 Collection
Another look back to some of last year's work! These are a few of the yokai statblocks I made for Yokaitober, a month-long challenge I set for myself to make monsters inspired by the yokai of Japanese folklore. I've gotten pretty good at doing these types of writing/design challenges, and even thirty-one straight days was easier than I expected.
I actually collected all thirty-one entries into a compendium, available over at my Patreon. And even better, it's totally free! Of course, if you wanted to follow me or even sign up for a monthly pledge, I won't say no.
And if you're wondering about all of the phenomenal art that inspired these creepy creatures, it's all done by Matthew Meyer, aka The Yokai Guy. He's got hundreds of illustrations, plus a lot of information and research on tons of different yokai, over at yokai.com. I really recommend checking out his site, especially if you're a fan of folklore, scary stories, or both.
