people really do not like when a character's sexuality gets in the way of their ships (which is why they go 'well aces can still date/have sex' and then ignore the character's asexuality completely) (same with the aromanticism, which was obviously implied when dearden talked about mel's sexuality, but not explicitly said so people just go "well asexuality isn't the same as aromanticism so she can still date!")

they view asexuality or aromanticism as a choice/the way someone chooses to live rather than an innate part of who someone is the way they do with allosexual or alloromantic identities / they see it as a less serious identity / less worthy of respect / being a "waste" of a "perfectly good" (i.e. shippable) "character" (i haven't seen it said that bluntly but i think that's part of it)

they think they don't have to accept it since "autistic characters are always made to be asexual"(??) (i think people are vastly overestimating both the amount of autistic characters and the amount of asexual characters out there, tbh). for some reason these same people do not ever mention becca, a canonically allosexual autistic woman,

it's "not technically canon" (nevermind that when briones said she saw santos as a lesbian, even before it was confirmed textually, people for the most part immediately accepted it)
