They somehow know, This is not all there is. They hold the belief that a better alternative exists somewhere and that someday they will find their way to it. They persevere in that idea. They somehow know Mother is not all women, Father is not all men, this family does not exhaust the possibilities of human relationshipsβthere is life beyond this neighborhood. This does not spare them suffering in the present, but it allows them not to be destroyed by it. Their strategic detachment does not guarantee that they will never know feelings of powerlessness, but it helps them not to be stuck there.

The mythical disabled person who is so disabled that everyone consistently supports and accommodates them without question is a straw man which only exists as a hypothetical for the political purpose of denying real disabled people care while still being able to argue that said care would be accessible to disabled people who "actually deserves it"

If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to do massive harm to someone's body, mind or well-being you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to contribute meaningfully to someone's healing, function or happiness you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think certain substances should be excluded from informed consent (either withheld or forcibly administered) you've gone wrong somewhere.

My issue with the comparison of Elon Musk to Taylor Swift is the lack of nuance and the fact that it was made specifically to say something about women.
I've acknowledged multiple times there is no such thing as an ethical billionaire. The wedding situation in NYC right now is atrocious. Both absolutely contribute to harm, but it's illogical to assume their level of harm is completely equal or irrelevant.
Having an issue with billionaires is good, but whining about Taylor Swift because she's an annoying bitch and because her fans are annoying bitches isn't. Do you see the difference? Brittney Spears has a lot of money and privilege, but does that make the hate campaigns against her okay?
We need to be able to point out misogyny AND acknowledge harm at the same time. For example, everyone hated Justin Bieber and the Twilight series in the 2010s specifically to talk shit on young teen girls and their stupid vain silly interests. Twilight, in hindsight, had a lot of moral issues and was written by a Mormon woman who was clearly racist. Justin Bieber is currently a domestic abuser. See how both of these things have problems, but how ALSO it's wrong to shit on women's interests due to misogyny?

It's not even hard to acknowledge the privelege you have over other more marginalized people within your demographic, and it does nothing to erase the struggles you still face.
