Chapter 3: With Poise and Grace! Cure Pirouette!
(Author's note: Thanks for your patience! I hope y'all enjoy! ^^)
The morning was very tranquil in the little village of Meruhen. The birds chirped a lovely little tune. The morning dewdrops left trails of water as they trickled down the tree leaves, creating a warm shimmer as the morning sun showered the trees with its light.
Akane was lying in her bed on the second floor of the bakery. She slept peacefully in her loose tee and shorts, her go-to for sleepwear. As she snoozed on, she dreamt of various sweet nothings. As the crisp morning air met the warmth of her fuzzy red blankets and fluffy polka-dotted pillows, she found herself lulled into an even deeper sleep with each passing minute.
And then her dad burst through her door.
“AKANE! Wake up! We have a deeeeelivery!” he said, feeling chipper.
Akane was startled and jolted up, her hair a mess. She then became angered
“WHY do you need to wake me up like that??” she angrily responded.
“Because as our one and only delivery girl, you must deliver this order of blueberry muffins! Plus it’s time for you to be up anyway.” he said with a hint of reprimand.
Akane looked at a clock on her wall with the time reading 8:45, and she made a face of disgust.
“Eugh, it’s not even double digits yet man….” she exclaimed, putting her pillow back over her head to try and lull herself back into the dark void that is sleep. Her father walked over and took the pillow from her, much to her dismay.
“Well our patrons don’t dilly dally, they're up and going about their days, and so should you!”
Akane rolled her eyes, clarely disinterested in what her father had to say. Why should she when he can’t be bothered to kindly wake her up to begin with?
“What-EVER!” She stretched her arms out and sat upright on her bed so she wouldn’t be tempted to fall back asleep.
“Where’s this delivery headed anyway, huh?” She said while properly getting up to stretch her legs.
“The Izumi Ballet Hall.”
Lebed, who lay lifelessly on Akane’s bed still acting like a plushie, overheard those words. Her eyes grew wide with wonder at the mention of a ballet hall.
Akane, however, froze when her father uttered those words. The ballet hall? That ballet hall?! She couldn’t even believe what she’d just heard. The old ballet hall was constructed early into the village’s founding. It was practically ancient! From its pillars to the faded wooden window frames–not to mention the musty smell– Many villagers questioned how it still stands today. Akane wouldn’t be caught dead near there! She’d never hear the end of it from her guy friends if she steps near there. They’d probably say she ‘Wanted to play ballerina with all the other girlies at the hall.’ BLEH!
…
“No frickin’ way-”
“LANGUAGE, AKANE!” Her father scolded.
“C’mon, Pops! You can’t be serious! The ballet hall? Might as well put me in a tutu!” Akane complained.
“Now, Akane, business is business! If some lovely girl wants to treat her ballerina girlfriends to our steaming hot blueberry muffins, who are we, as the ones to make profit, to complain?”her father preached.
“Okay, first, don’t ever say ‘ballerina girlfriends’ again,” stated Akane, shuddering at her dad’s attempt to be hip. “Second, why me? Can’t Ma go? She’d be a much better fit for that crowd!”
“Well, she’s busy helping me prepare another, quite large order. And, you are our shop’s ‘delivery girl’! You gotta live up to your title, hon!” he gleamed, knowing he’d won the battle.
Akane sighed in defeat, and her father gleefully smiled as he left her room. Akane had to shut the door after he left, a bad habit he keeps doing that slightly annoys her. Once the door was closed, Akane’s “plushies” all rose up, after hearing the conversation.
“A BALLET HALL AAAAAA!! ~LELE” Lebed squealed, as Akane made a pose in reaction to the sudden outburst, shushing the bird.
“Be QUIET! You don’t wanna alert anyone about your existence or anything right!??”
“I do apologize but, a ballet hall is the LAST place I’d expect from a….rustic village like this. I’m simply overjoyed! ~lele” Akane pretended not to notice the bird’s jab at her home village with that comment.
“Why do you care so much about ballet?” Akane questioned.
Lebed turned towards the brunette almost instantly, as if she was severely insulted at her mere comment. “Seriously? Have you not heard of Swan Lake?~lele”
“Vaguely? It's that one ballet dance thing, yeah?”
“Well… that's a simpleton’s way of phrasing it yes. ~lele But it’s also revered as one of the more sophisticated fairy tales known to man! ~lele”
Akane rolled her eyes at Lebed’s once again uncalled for comment.
As they conversed, Akane got ready for the day: a white tank top with red detailing around the arm areas, paired with a black sports bra underneath for coverage. She also wore her white shorts with a red stripe and black trim, paired with her black leggings with laced details near her ankles, near her red laced up sneakers. She tied the look together with her signature red hoodie around her waist…in case it gets chilly outside!
“Ain’t that a bit stereotypical? A swan fairy likin’ ballet?” She jabbed in response to the swan’s rude remarks made earlier.
“Well I’d never!~lele” Lebed puffed her feathers in defense to Akane’s amusement.
“We fairies come from a place known as Everafter Garden ~lulu We’re…uhh..”
Lupo thought of a way to carefully phrase his next statement, not wanting to reveal too much info until a proper Precure team is formed.
“...essentially we’re born from well known fairy tales ~lulu”
“Mine’s Goldilocks!~ lili!” Lionceau chipped in.
“Mine is the ever so extravagant avant-garde Swan Lake! ~lele!” Lebed posed rather dramatically at her own announcment.
“And mine is Little Red Riding Hood ~lulu!”
Akane smiled. She may have her reservations, but these animals have been growing on her. Lupo’s last sentence made her brighten up a bit.
“Hey Lupo, that’s my favorite fairytale y’know?” She grinned
“Really?~ lulu. I knew you had good taste hehehe ~lulu” he blushed with a sense of pride at their shared appreciation of the fairy tale.
------
Akane stuffed the fairies inside a conveniently large basket she found to hold not only them but the delivery as well. Once she was situated she set off towards…the ballet hall. She huffed at the thought of having to be there.
She followed the path she frequented through the little village she called home. It wasn’t terribly busy here, it was very quiet and peaceful. The only noises that could be heard were the chirps of the birds soaring overhead and the occasional buzzing from the cicadas. Only the shopkeepers were out this early, setting up shop for today’s easy day of business. A shop for fruits and veggies, one for books and quills–even a tailor that took your measurements and sewed for you as you conversed with them!
Akane swung by the fruit clerk and got her daily apple from them, and at a fair price too!
“Out on another delivery dear?” The elderly woman happily asked her usual patron.
“Yeah, some muffins today. I have to take them to the ballet hall…” Akane grimaced in reply.
The woman took notice and wanted to pry a bit.
“Why the long face dear? It’s truly not so bad, when I was a little girl I wanted to train at that same hall. The sight of it is truly one to behold, alas it wasn’t in my family’s budget for me to go…” the woman trailed off a tad bit upset.
Akane took notice and patted the woman’s shoulder in condolence.
“Sorry to hear that,is that why you became a fruit vendor then?”
The woman closed her eyes gently. “Yes, after all my family was known for their tasty affordable fruits, tradition is important in a town like this y’know.”
Akane flinched a bit at that comment.
“But” the woman continued “There’s no such thing asa ‘bad’ change. After all, now there’s scholarships for the Izumi Ballet Hall, so it’s more accessible for us non-rich folk!” She chuckled. “Just try not to be too discouraged dear, things happen for a reason, and you never know what’s waiting for you along the path you take.”
Akane smiled and nodded. She thanked the woman and headed back on route, taking a bite from the juicy apple with a mighty crunch, though she may have bitten off a bit too much, as she found herself wiping juices from the corners of her mouth. Once finished, she threw the browned fruit core into a trash bin as she continued to her destination.
-----
Within a desolate dark land, a singular open clam lay dormant on the ground. Operetta was inside, fixing her appearance at a vanity within the crustacean. She was brushing her hair with a fish’s skeleton as a brush of sorts.
“Damned girl….Damned Cure Hoodie….” She muttered to herself.
A cackle was heard from behind. Operetta didn’t bother to turn as only one woman with a laugh so sickly could only be-
“Castella. Could you please go be hideous elsewhere? I’m busy fuming.” Operetta jabbed, not even bothering to face the old woman who approached her.
The stout woman could only sneer at her acquaintance. She wore a leather dress, with a pumpkin shaped skirt. She also had two toned striped leggings in two different shades of green, to compliment her pale green skin. She had a rather large nose with some warts adorning her face, and a prominent snaggle tooth. Her big witch’s hat seemed a bit stereotypical, but is a classic detail nonetheless.
“Oh? I’m hideous? Well considerin’ you’re using a corpse for a brush I must be at least smarter than you.” She snickered as Operetta turned around, glaring daggers at her.
“Don’t you have a cauldron to fall into you hag??”
Catsella smirked. “Precure. I hear ya yappin’ about that to yourself. You DO know losing to them will only anger our lord more? Or is all that caked on makeup clouding your memory?”
Operetta practically growled at Castella’s taunts.
“I ALMOST HAD HER!”
“And that right there, almost! And ya still lost! You young people give up so easily, never wanting to put in hard work even with all your technical advancements. Failure isn’t an option you know~”
Castella cackled as Operetta’s face grew red with anger. Normally she’d brush the woman’s remarks off with a thought of reassurance, usually about her looks being far better. But the guilt Operetta felt from losing against her foe was like gasoline igniting the flames of Castella’s scorching jabs.
“You’re RIGHT! I don’t wanna work too hard, otherwise I'd have more wrinkles than you!” Operetta said instinctively, to no avail of easing her emotions though.
Castella glared at the serpent, knowing she struck a nerve, but at the cost of being insulted in terms of beauty once again.
“Besides! I never said I was giving up! I just needed my beauty rest-”
“Clearly.” Castella snapped in.
“...and THEN. I was going to get my revenge!”
Castella shrugged “Whatever you say deary, just don’t lose again. Otherwise you’d look ridiculous… Well, moreso than you usually do~! KEHEHEHE!”
Castella laughed as Operetta shook with anger. She needed an outlet, and teleported within an instant back to earth. She was furious all right, and ready to take out her frustrations on the girl who did her wrong; Cure Hoodie.
------
Akane stood in front of the ballet hall, a look of displeasure painted her face. Lebed peeked out of the bag, and marveled at the glorious structure. Such fine pine flooring shone as it may have been freshly polished, the structures marble pillars framing the entrance glistened, as light greenery grew out, giving the building an even more earthy feel.
“This. Is. Magnificent ~lele!” Lebed whispered from within the basket.
“I betcha one of my guy friends put me up to this as a joke. I HATE places like this.” Akane muttered, a thought of her friends hopping out with a camera to catch her in such a girly place flashed into her mind.
She grimaced and took some steps to the entrance. Akane knocked on the large doors of the structure.
“An uncultured swine knows no difference from a jewel to a rock.~ lele”
“ Say one more thing you bird, I dare you-”
Akane was cut off as the door opened, and a docile looking girl was facing her. Akane stopped in her tracks, a little taken back by how prim and proper the girl was.
The girl was fair skinned. Her hair, a neatly put together bun with side swept bangs, was a deep navy blue in color, practically black almost. The color matched her grayish bluebelle eyes. She wore a typical ballerina outfit, one in a pastel baby blue color with white tights and matching pastel baby blue laced up slippers.
Akane was stunned, and her face felt a bit flushed…
“Yes? Oh! Hello, are you the blueberry muffin delivery?” asked the girl in a quiet yet smooth sounding voice.
“M-Mhm…. Uh I mean, yeah! For uhhh… what uh, who are you?” Akane stuttered a bit. Must be the nerves of being in an unwanted and unfamiliar place.
“Hmm? Oh!” The girl giggled with her hand on her mouth as Akane smirked goofily, feeling a bit out of place at the moment once again.
“My apologies, I forgot myself. I am Hakuchou Junko, one of the ballerinas of the Izumi Ballet Hall!” She smiled softly at the brunette.
“Junko? Yup! These muffins are definitely for you then missy!” Akane held out the basket and Hakuchou took it and inspected it. She looked puzzled to Akane’s worry.
“Are these… plush dolls?” The girl questioned as Akane comedically froze, forgetting the fairies were also in said basket.
“Y-YEAH OH AHAHA! Sorry! I totally forgot about those in there, they're my uh, lucky plushies, yeah! Gives me luck on my deliveries ahaha…” Akane’s faux laugh trailed off as she realized how lame she must’ve sounded then.
Hakuchou stared at the brunette, and then giggled. She gestured for Akane to enter the hall.
“OH! I uh… don’t really fit in well here-”
“Nonsense. All are welcome at the Izumi Ballet Hall. Besides, I have to retrieve the payment, no?” Hakuchou questioned.
Akane gulped, and nervously followed the girl inside. The halls were pleasantly kept clean, with little to no dust in sight. Akane took notice of rooms the pair passed by, with hardworking ballerinas seemingly warming up along poles attached to the walls.
She also took note of the hanging photos that adorned the walls they walked by, showcasing various things from assumed alumni to celebratory photos taken of prizes the dancers won.
Hakuchou led Akane to a room with the label ‘4B’ plastered on a plate on the wall adjacent to the door of the room. When the door was opened, Akane could see it was filled with about 6 ballerinas, each practicing a different technique.
“Group 4B, Muffins are here!” Hakuchou declared, and the girls excitedly hurried over to grab a muffin from the box she took out from the basket. Lebed peeked out and marveled at the ballerinas adorned in their usual attire. It filled her with a familiar sense of belonging.
As Hakuchou handed out the muffins Akane started up a small conversation.
“S-so… these your friends or..?”
“Ah, this is my group I regularly train and perform with! I wanted to treat them to some food for all their hard work we’ve accomplished recently.”
“Hard work?” Akane questioned and quickly realized how condescending she must’ve sounded.
“I-I MEAN-”
“It’s ok.”
Akane was taken aback by the nonchalant response.
“I believe all hard work should be eventually rewarded, is all.” Hakuchou smiled and Akane couldn’t help but return one back at her earnest response.
A short bit later, Hakuchou led Akane outside the room, and handed her payment for the goods. She took note of how soft Hakuchou’s hands felt, she must use some nice skin care products.
“I assume you’ll be on your way now?” Hakuchou asked straightforwardly.
“Ah yeah! This scene isn’t really my…I mean! My job is done so yeah I am haha” Akane rubbed the back of her head, a bit embarrassed of how uncool she was probably coming off.
Lebed rustled from inside Akane’s basket., Hakuchou took notice of the it, and looked concerned.
“Did your basket….move?”
“AH! LEMME SEE HERE AHAHA!” Akane replied as she turned and shoved her head in the basket comically, Hakuchou looked on in concern…
Akane whispered within the basket to the fairies inside.
“What are ya DOIN??”
“We can’t leave yet!~ lele! The sights are amazing! I must see more. ~lele”
“No way, nuh uh! I hate places like this! We are leavin’!” Akane snapped back, not even entertaining the thought.
“But ~lele! I sense a Precure also! ~lele!”
“REALLY??” Akane said a bit more loudly than she would’ve liked.
“I-Is everything ok?” Hakuchou questioned, a tad more concerned that the girl was seemingly talking to herself within her basket.
Akane jolted up in embarrassment at the sudden realization.
“HAHA YEP! Just my uh, phone!”
“Oh…I don’t recall seeing a phone in the bag…” Hakuchou said looking up, placing a closed fist to her chin trying to recall correctly what was inside.
“It was uh hidden in the plushies! They double as phone cases haha! ANYWAYS! I don’t really have anywhere to be, mind givin’ me a tour of the place?” Akane pleaded.
Hakuchou looked surprised and blinked.
“Really? Didn’t you say this wasn’t ‘your scene’? Hehe” The docile girl giggled, to Akane’s burning face. She feels a bit humiliated, but it’s for the greater good! Hopefully…
“I meant uhh, my SEEIN’ of a ballet hall in forever! In fact at all!” She hoped Hakuchou hadn’t realized her changing her words to make the offer more genuine.
Hakuchou giggled, knowing fully well Akane was lying.
“Well, let’s be ‘seein’’ the hall then!” Hakuchou led the way as Akane followed. Akane felt she was thrown off her usual game of coming up with smooth lies in this situation…
They entered many places in the hall, and Lebed was living for all of it, marveling at the various ballet related things they would come across. She felt like she found a diamond amongst the unfamiliar sights of earth that she and the other fairies have been exposed to thus far.
They took a break at the back garden of the hall, there was a stone bench on a fenced in porch outlooking a small pond, hosting a few graceful looking swans gliding by along the water.
“So how is the tour?” Hakuchou asked inquisitively.
“Really good! This place is pretty cool, lots of space, must be good for stretchin’ your legs and whatnot!” Akane replied happily.
Hakuchou smiled. “Yes, this place is like a home to me, I’ve attended this hall’s ballet program for about 9 years now…”
Akane was stunned, for some reason the thought of someone seriously committing to a dance technique never crossed her mind before today.
“That is commitment. Ya really like all this twirlin’ n stuff huh?” She playfully teased the blunette who giggled in response.
Hakuchou closed her eyes “It’s a bit more complicated than that, but yes. Being able to hone my skill has been very fun for me. The poses and exercise helps clear my mind of any worries I may have. Once I’m in the zone, I feel it’s just me and the stage floor..”
Akane couldn’t help but smile.
“Your parents must love watchin’ ya huh?” She grinned as Hakuchou could only smile in response.
“...You wanna know why I love ballet?”
Akane looked puzzled at the sudden question.
“It’s because I'm not just dancing. I’m telling a tale. Being able to fully immerse myself with the movements of the dance, it truly is a tranquil feeling I absolutely adore… It’s as if I am one with the story I wanna portray.”
Before Akane could speak, sniffling came from the basket, Akane froze in fear as Lebed leapt out onto Hakuchou’s lap, catching the girl off guard.
“BEAUTIFUL ~LELE! THAT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EXPRESSION OF THE TRUEST FORM OF EXQUISITE ARTISTRY KNOWN AS BALLET ~LELE!”
… KYAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Hakuchou got up and stepped back, leaving Lebed flapping in the air. She was unsure of what was going on.
“T-The plushie!! THE BIRD TALKED!” Hakuchou pointed at the small swan accusingly.
Akane pinched her brow in frustration and grunted.
After a short explanation, Hakuchou seemed a bit more composed, albeit still uneasy at all this newfound information of things that sounded out of this world to her.
“Precure? Magical Vigilante’s who protect earth from….?”
“The Grimm Empire ~lele!” Lebed chirped with precision in her voice.
“R-right…sorry this is just all so much out of nowhere…”
Akane held her head in her hands, full of shame of how things rolled out.
“And you are the next Precure ~lele! I can feel it!” Akane looked up a bit more excitedly than she would’ve liked to lead on at that statement.
“....I beg your finest pardon? I don’t think I’d be a good fit for that at all!”
“Aww it’s not so bad! You get super cool powers and a new look ‘n everything!” Akane sheepishly added, trying to smooth over the ridiculous request.
“Well… ok, but fighting? That's not really me at all… I’m sorry, but I think I should go-”
“PRECURE”
The group looked across the pond to a devilishly smiling Operetta, who had seemingly conjured up a swan like monstrous Poisonink. Hakuchou trembled, as Akane lept in front of her instinctively.
“Don’t worry! I’ll keep us safe!” Eclaimed the brunette as she made a cool pose showing off her Precure Storybook.
“Precure! Curetime Everafter!"
"Hooded in red, journeying towards victory! Cure Hoodie!”
Hoodie lept into action and Hakuchou stood there, stunned at what’s unfolding in front of her. Hoodie ran up and jumped, aiming to land a sharp kick to the beast, when it started to flap it’s wings erratically, sending a huge gust of wind blowing Hoodie away into the hall’s walls with a giant crash!
“NO!” Hakuchou screeched with fear and anger seeing the hall take such a toll. Hoodie stood up slowly, trembling a bit at her knees.
“A-are you alright??” Hakuchou asked with concern, as Hoodie nodded and ran back out into the fray.
Hakuchou could only stare as she trembled, she heard screams from inside and footsteps of girls exiting the building. The place that was a home to her got damaged, the battle in front of her playing out dramatically until Hakuchou couldn’t contain herself anymore.
“P-PLEASE STOP THIS OBSTRUCTION AT ONCE!” Everyone within the battle froze comedically, and then Operetta slithered up quickly to Hakuchou, pointing her scythe at the girl.
“Such a frail girl trying to act tough hmmm~?”
“Leave her ALONE!” Hoodie jumped at Operetta, only for the Poisonink to tackle her, once again hitting the hall.
“N-NO! PLEASE STOP!” Hakuchou begged with desperation while reaching out towards Hoodie.
“I can make this nightmare end for you little girl. After all, such a beauty as yourself doesn't deserve to exist when someone like me is here!” She raised her scythe, and Hakuchou froze. Was this her final moment of being alive!?
“LELEEEEEEE~!!!!” Lebed flew in front of Hakucchou, to protect her. And in the process a huge beam of light shot down on the two instantaneously.
“WHAT?! NO!’ Operetta screeched with hatred, well knowing what’s occurring in front of her.
Hakuchou blinked and came to the realization she was surrounded in a warm feeling light. Lebed flapped her wings happily in front of her. She felt safe here.
“Where….am I….?”
“We’re safe now. ~lele My name is Lebed, and I feel like we can help each other Hakuchou! ~lele!”
“By making me a Precure right? I just… I don’t know…”
“Those monsters are ruining the structural integrity and antique beauty that is the Izumi Ballet Hall! ~lele We cannot allow them to continue. If they wreck that hall, how else will you continue to dance?! ~ lele?”
Hakuchou looked discouraged, not totally believing she could be of assistance.
“It’s scary ~lele. But you CAN be strong, true strength comes from wanting to protect those you hold dear, no? ~lele.”
Hakuchou looked surprised.
“That…is true….” she thought “The ballet hall… I don’t want to see it being damaged anymore. I want to help protect it, and everyone else, too!”
Suddenly a Precure Storybook materialized, and Lebed smiled as she pulled a swan themed charm out of her mirror shaped broach, extending it to Hakuchou.
“All you need to do is use this charm and say ‘Precure Curetime Everafter ~lele! I’ve felt this potential since laying my eyes on you! I have faith in you, Hakuchou ~lele!”
Faith…..in her…..
Hakuchou smiled and grabbed the charm and the book.
“Precure! Curetime Everafter!”
She gracefully transforms, her leaps and twirls enveloping her body as more pieces of clothing appear, and she finishes with a soft landing, water rippling as her heel touches the ground.
“Gliding upon blue waters of tranquility! Cure Pirouette!”
The light dispersed, and everyone in the scene stared in amazement as the newest Precure stood tall.
Hoodie smiled. “Cure Pirouette….”
Meanwhile, Operetta growled. “NO NO NO! NOT ANOTHER ONE! Poisonink, DESTROY HER!”
“POI-POISONINKKKKK!” the large bird began to flap its wings when suddenly Pirouette zipped around behind the bird, and gave it a swift kick to the back of the head, stopping it from continuing its gusts.
“So fast!” Hoodie marveled in awe.
Pirouette got a look at herself quickly, astounded by her speed. She noticed small water droplets glistening in the sunlight around her like gems.
“I felt like I was…gliding on air!” she said to herself in amazement.
The monster flapped its wings again, catching Pirouette off guard and blowing her into the nearby pond. Hoodie gasped out Pirouette’s name as Operetta laughed, feeling they were gaining the upper hand.
“Not so fast now are….you?”
The crash of water from the impact subsided, and Pirouette was still standing, in fact she was gracefully gliding…atop the water’s surface! She gracefully leapt off the waters, treading a small wave behind her leave, and aimed it at the Poisonink, soaking it in water!
“P-POI! POI! POI!” The beast cried out, preening its feathers in retaliation of the wave’s crash.
“No! Stop preening at ONCE!” Operetta screeched in frustration.
Hoodie jumped to Pirouette’s side, a huge smile adorning her face.
“You are AMAZING Pirouette!” she beamed with pride.
Pirouette smiled. “Thank you, Hoodie. I just needed a little more faith in myself I suppose” she said, while looking at Lebed warmly,
Lebed smiled back “Now ~lele! Use the storybook to purify the monster ~lele!”
Pirouette nodded, and faced the preening beast. The slot where the charm was inserted was glowing, and she pressed it down lightly twice, activating a symbol to trace on the left side’s mirror. She took the quill pen and traced. As she did, simultaneously the emblem was drawn out in front of her with raw energy. Once finished, the swan shaped emblem glowed, and she touched it with her quill pen, absorbing the core of the emblem within her pen.
“Precure!” She did a graceful motion, charging up “Graceful Resolution!”
She pulled back, and pierced the glowing outline with a resounding HA, releasing the energy at the Posionink in the form of an elegant swan. Once it made contact, the beast was purified with a relaxing “Happily ever after~!” as Pirouette closed her Storybook into itself in triumph.
The red jewel from the beast shattered, returning the now purified nostalight back to a ballerina who was knocked unconscious just outside the ballet hall
“Dammit… my hair is soaking wet, and after I just brushed it too! YOU’LL PAY, PRECURE!!” Operetta swore, vanishing and returning the setting to its prior form.
-----
“So that’s what being a Precure is…how exciting!” Hakuchou giggled, Lebed joining in as she flaps beside her gleefully.
“You were amazing ~lele! Truly a fine specimen of a girl, do I know how to pick ‘em or what ~lele?!”
Akane extended a hand towards Hakuchou a bit awkwardly “G-guess this means we’re p-partners?” Why was she stuttering at that word?
Hakuchou smiled, and took her hand. “Yes, but I would also love to get to know you more, and be your friend, too!”
Akane eagerly nodded in response. “Yeah! I’d love that!”
The group laughed merrily to themselves, now assembling a small reliable group to fight this long lasting battle.
-----
Behind a nearby building, a brunette girl in a lolita dress with orange and yellow colors hides herself from the group’s sight. On her cutely decorated phone displays photos of the Precure and their battle.
“P…precure?.... What in the world is going on here…?”

Chapter 2: A Decisive Choice! The End of Cure Hoodie?!
(Author's note: Thanks so much for the recent support! I hope y'all enjoy chapter 2! ^^)
Hoodie stood resilient and on the ready against the dangerous looking serpent woman who stood before her. She felt Operetta’s scarlet eyes filling with hatred at the sight of her. The atmosphere was so silent you could hear the wind blowing gently as the two had a silent standoff, waiting for the other to move first.
The fairies floated on the side of the stand off, in awe of the newly born Precure. But there was also suspense in the air, of what would unfold between the two intense figures that were standing before them.
Operetta screeched, grabbed her scythe and charged at Hoodie, who ducked down backwards to narrowly dodge her advance. Operetta then clawed at the girl, who swiftly slapped her claws away with a quick motion, grabbing her wrist and tossing Operetta behind into a nearby tree with a snap sounding impact. Hoodie looked at her hand, impressed with this newfound strength.
The serpent woman grunted as she brushed off the debris of the tree she was thrown into. Some dead leaves and twigs were caught in her hair, infuriating Operetta even moreso. She suddenly froze, and frantically looked at her hands, inspecting each and every finger out of worry. She sighed and used the snath of her scythe to help her up
“You’ll pay for almost ruining my nails, pest.” Operetta hissed
“You’re clearly nuts! Ya REALLY think I care about some dumb gussied up nails??” Hoodie scoffed in response, this monster clearly has odd priorities…
Operetta huffed, and charged again. Hoodie simply jumped up, but overestimated the new power she was bestowed, as she was high up in the air. The feeling was almost freeing, while nervous, she also felt light and serene being up so high. She could see so much scenery also. She spotted the woodlands below, beyond that was a nearby academy, Meruhen Village, and-
Her eyes locked with the familiar sight of her family’s bakery. She felt a pit slowly forming, remembering the events from this morning between her and her parents. And for a moment, she snapped out of her adrenaline high as she plummeted to the ground. She barely stuck a landing but before she could turn, Operetta jabbed the snath of her weapon into Hoodie’s stomach, launching her back into a tree.
“THAT is for earlier!” Operetta snickered “And THIS is to end things!”
Operetta slithered up to the currently down Precure and she raised her scythe. Hoodie looked up defenseless, realizing the danger she was truly in. Memories of this morning flashed before her eyes once again. The arguing, the discord at home, her wanting to escape. She was helpless in so many aspects, even with such an awesome power, she still felt hopeless….
“LUUULUUUUUUUUUU!” Lupo screeched as he attacked and grabbed onto Operetta’s face, throwing her off balance.
“Let’s get you UPPP ~LELE!” The swan said, flapping her wings as she used her clawed feet to help lift Hoodie up by her red hood.
“Don’t give up please, miss ~lili!” the cub pleaded while pushing Hoodie up from her upper back.
Hoodie got up, and realized she needed to think, and act fast. She thought about her next move, when once again she felt an uneasy feeling growing. Phrases said by her father and mother flooded her mind, she never really could feel a moment’s peace could she? And now she has to face this monstrous woman, and on top of that help these poor defenseless creatures!
Help…Under attack…Arguments .... Those three topics swirled around Hoodie’s head and she lightly tapped her cranium with the palm of her hand, trying to focus and decide on her next move. Among all the noise going on inside of her mind, the struggles of Operetta trying to rip Lupo off her face wasn’t helping much either. Quiet, she needed quiet desperately.
So she made a decision.
She grabbed the two fairies that helped her up moments ago, and swiftly jumped at Operetta who was struggling to detach Lupo from her face. She ripped the wolf from her enemy’s head, and jumped onto Operetta’s shoulders. She swiftly used a powerful jump off of her enemy and far into the emptied sky above, causing Operetta to be pushed forcibly into the dirty woodland ground below.
A comical moment passed by as Operetta processed what had just happened.
“Wh-WHAT?!” Operetta exclaimed, her face still in the dirt, before snapping her head upwards “Precure….ran away?”
She had a look of disbelief until she realized the girl made off with the fairies. Her face morphed into a look of pure anger, her sharp teeth practically grinding against each other before letting out a gut-wrenching screech.
“Grrrr… PREEEECURREEEEEEEEE!”
-----
Farther away from the previous battleground, Hoodie let go of the fairies she held onto, allowing them to float freely themselves. The three were confused at Cure Hoodie’s choice to flee the fight. They all swarmed around the girl who was now panting, trying to catch her breath.
“What the heck~ lulu?! You just. RAN AWAY?!?”
“She’s gonna trail our tail feathers ~lele!!”
“My stomach hurts ~lili”
“EVERYONE JUST. SHADDUP!!!!” Akane screamed desperately.
Some birds flew away as Hoodie’s voice echoed across the emptied woods around them. The three fairies were startled at the girl’s response.
“Get this froufrou mess offa me. NOW!” Akane exclaimed, practically grabbing her outfit and with a ripping motion, dispelled the magical attire off of her body spontaneously.
She was shocked that it worked, and grabbed at her twin braids to assure her suspicions; she was back to her civilian self again!
“That’s more like it!” she stretched her arms out and moved onto her legs, squatting down from side to side, feeling freed a bit from the constricting clothes she had on just a moment earlier. She also took a moment to just breathe, she felt a bit more at ease as she rolled her shoulders back to crack them and relieve some stress she held there just moments prior.
Lupo looked stern, then closed his eyes with a frustrated huff.
“You…you’re nothing but a coward ~lulu...” he muttered, loud enough for Akane to just barely hear what he said.
“HUH?! What do you mean?? I SAVED you!!” Akane replied defensively.
“You only DELAYED that beastly woman from getting us ~lulu!”
“LISTEN! I DIDN'T HAFTA DO NOTHING FOR YOU, YOU FUZZBALLS!”
Akane grit her teeth together at the wolven fairy, as the other two floated on the sidelines. The swan put a wing to her chest and exaggeratedly gasped.
“Well I’d NEVER ~lele!” the swan turned her head at the girl with scorn, taking offense to the comment from the brunette girl.
“Please stop yelling ~lili!! Everyone please-” The cub was cut off with a loud grumbling sound from his stomach.
It grew quiet, comedically quiet. Akane then sighed with a hint of amusement, and zipped open her wolf themed pouch from her crossbody bag. She took out a dessert she had been saving, a cookie, and handed it to the cub, who looked happy to finally have gotten some food in his paws.
“Thank you ~lili!” The cub cheerfully said while shoving the cookie into its maw.
“Whatever. Here” she said, holding out the Precure Storybook to Lupo, who returned her gesture with a look of shock and confusion.
“What are you-”
“I can’t be involved with this ‘Pretty Cute’ junk” she spat out hastily, her eyes slightly looking away from her recipient.
-----
Meanwhile an angered Operetta was wandering through the trees. She was angrily swiping her weapon at each tree she passed, knocking them over and clearing the view bit by bit. She was trying to find her lost prey, or rather, her prey that were taken from her.
“Damned girl, making things more complicated than they need to be… I’ll kill her if I find her-”
*snap*
Operetta hastily turned in the direction of the sudden noise, her scythe in hand and pointed in the same direction blade first. She turned to the view of a scared boy who wore a sleeveless red hoodie and blue shorts, who looked terrified at the sight of her.
“Oh eww, children, gross” she said in a disgusted tone, which made the boy cry for his mother.
His tears angered her, but with such a strong emotion she felt from him…. A feeling of being lost? Utter abandonment, with a hint of saddened memories of a paternal figure now lost. Perfect for her to initiate her backup plan.
She chuckled as she slammed the snath of her scythe against the ground, causing the boy to freeze, a look of terror painted his face.
“Reveal yourself! Nostalight!” She said sensually.
As if on instinct a glowing orb with wings flew out from the boy’s chest, radiating a faint yellow hue. The orb flapped its wings in an attempt to escape its newfound predator, but to no avail.
Operetta grinned as she drove her weapon into the soil below. The red crystal at the base of her weapon glowed, causing black sludge like ooze to dispense onto the ground. From there the ooze rose upwards from the earth’s floor, trickling drops of sludge as it shot upwards at the Nostalight orb. It enveloped the orb with its paste-like embrace, tainting it, and trapping it within a red diamond shaped crystal. Two scythes crossed behind it, locking it in place as the ink-like substance overflowed, into the shape of a wolven-like monster.
“POISONINKKKKKK!!!” the Poisonink screeched with a blood curdling growl, echoing far across the forest, scaring away the animals that were residing nearby.
“Hmm~ Time to end this, Cure Hoodie~” Operetta purred, feeling more confident with her newfound pawn.
-----
“Firstly! It’s ‘Precure’! Secondly, WHAT ~LULU?!?!?!” Lupo responded to Akane, who still held her Precure Storybook toward the dumbfounded fairy.
“IM AKANE, NOT ‘LULU’!” she responded angrily.
Lupo sighed and closed his eyes.
“That’s just how us fairies speak ~lulu I know your name, Akane ~lulu!”
Akane huffed and crossed her arms, her arm felt sore from holding out the item the fairy still refused to take back.
“Listen. I can’t be gettin’ myself into all this mess. I already have a lot goin’ on at home as is! It’s just….better if ya found someone else…” she said, turning away in embarrassment.
“Well you won’t have to worry about home once The Grimm Empire plunges this world into an eternal bad end ~lulu!” Lupo growled.
Akane turned around, confused at what the fairy said. Did he insinuate the world could potentially END?!
“Eternal ...bad end? What are ya yappin’ about now?” she cautiously asked.
Lupo closed his eyes and took a deep breath, and exhaled.
“We…I can’t tell you much Akane ~lulu” Lupo said as his ears fell downwards, clearly ashamed of his inability to speak further on the subject.
“Then I’m outta here” she said, walking off disappointed at the conversation’s outcome.
“HOW DARE YOU~ LELE!” the bird huffed and flapped her way to the front of Akane’s direction, halting her in her tracks.
“Lebed please be rational ~lili” the cub whispered, trying to calm the bird.
“NO LIONCEAU! This girl is being naive and petty~lele!”
“Lebed? Lionceau? What kinda names are those?” Akane muttered to herself.
Lupo flew up to Akane, determined to convince her with the best of his ability.
“Akane ~lulu, I don’t know why you changed your mind suddenly but please reconsider-”
“WHY?! So I can be told ONCE AGAIN how to live my life?? I get that enough from my parents! And now suddenly by flying talking animals?? I’m losin’ it!!” Akane exclaimed with her hands on her head.
Lupo and the others exchanged a look of worry, then Lupo turned back and spoke.
“Akane ~lulu… I don’t know much about you, and I’m sorry for forcing this all on you suddenly….”
‘Sorry’ resonated in Akane’s mind. She wasn’t used to hearing that word, the only other person who ever apologized to her was her mother on rare occasions…
“...but I NEED you to understand the danger the world is in if you can’t help us ~lulu!” Lupo pleaded desperately.
Akane closed her eyes for a moment, letting those words resonate in her mind for a bit.
“...ya mentioned an eternal bad end?” she responded, turning towards the fairies.
“Yes ~lulu The Grimm Empire is planning on plunging this world into an eternal bad end! A world filled with despair and woes ~lulu!”
“One where everyone is sad, not able to feel any happy emotions ~lili...” Lionceau added.
“A world where you can’t decide your own happily ever after ~lele” Lebed admitted defeatedly
“Happily ever after?” Akane made a confused expression at that phrasing.
“It’s what us fairies from Everafter Garden refer to what you humans may call ‘dreams’ ~lulu” Lupo explained, hoping he made a correct comparison for Akane to understand.
Akane paused. Her dream. What IS her dream? Once again she stood dumbfounded, she was surrounded by so much work and chaos of family related fights, she still had no clue what her ‘dream’ could be…or even how to go about figuring something like that out.
“...Even still… what am I supposed to do??” she questioned.
“We…can’t disclose much about our mission, unless we have a team of at least THREE Precure ~lulu.... It’d be too risky to our mission, But PLEASE trust we have you and your world’s best interest at heart ~lulu”
Akane stood there, about to respond when suddenly the ground shook, and a huge beast made of black goopy ink stood before her. Its large elongated arms hung down and attached to two giant paws that had sharp claws out. The monster had its sharp teeth snarling, black ooze dripping down like saliva from its maw.
Operetta stood on it’s shoulders looking pleased at the sight of the once again terrified prey in front of her.
“Oh there you are! And already detransformed? My what a treat to me~” she playfully exclaimed putting her hands together.
Akane stood her ground as best she could, visibly trembling at the much more terrifying beast in front of her. It had to have been about 10 feet taller than her! The three fairies followed behind her, trembling at the foes in front of them.
“My Poisonink here will now be ending your lives for me. I cannot be bothered to put another hair out of place, beside…” she looked at Akane who was buckling at the knees, visibly horrified.
“...Watching this beast kill you and those pesky fairies will be a sight I wanna see in full~” she giggled sadistically.
“Poisonink?” Akane turned her head to ask the small fairies behind her.
“A creature used by tainting a human’s Nostalight, inner memories of things they’re fond of. ~lulu” Lupo answered practically whispering out of fear of being heard.
“...Pasta WHAT?” Akane questioned, having a hard time hearing the small fairy’s hushed tone.
“Anyways, Poisonink, end them now.” Operetta exclaims, hopping off the beast and landing soundly on the ground off to the side of the newly found battle arena.
“POISONNNNINK!” the monster cried out, the sound reverberating through the woodland area, causing some birds to caw and fly away in fear.
The beast lunged its elongated paws at the four prey, but Akane whipped around and group hug-tackled the fairies and herself to safety. But only for a moment before the beast swung its elongated claws again, and again, each time getting dangerously closer to the quartet.
Akane noticed their disadvantage, and she knew she had to make a choice. She already had so much going on at home. She has no idea what her dream isor what will come in the future for her, but if she doesn't help now she won’t have much of a dream or future to look forward to. When she looked down to the fairies she held in her arms, Lupo caught her eye particularly.
Lupo stared at her, she took notice of this, and he gave her a look. A look of understanding. Something she’s alien to, almost as if he’s beckoning her to realize whatever she chooses this time around, it’s HER choice. Her choice… her decision…nobody else has a say…only her!
“Lupo!” she called out, making her choice as clear as day to the now smiling wolf fairy.
As Akane let the fairies float freely, the wolf nodded in understanding, and handed her the wolf-shaped charm he had stored in his brooch. She took it and made a sharp pose with the charm in one hand, and The Precure Storybook in her other, facing the opponent.
“It’s about time I make my own decisions! Startin’ with defeating you monsters!” she said proudly.
“Precure! Curetime Everafter!”
As quick as a flash, Akane transforms into Cure Hoodie!
“Hooded in red, journeying towards victory! Cure Hoodie!”
“KILL THEM ALL NOW!” Operetta screeched, disgusted at the sight of Cure Hoodie once again. She was set on crushing this vile worm while she had her chance.
Hoodie was ready this time, and stood her ground as the monster once again plunged its huge paws atop of her, seemingly crushing her. Operetta had a sickening grin until she realized the paw was… shaking?
From beneath, Cure Hoodie slowly lifted the paw up with shaking knees. She found some footing, grasped the foe’s paw tightly, and swung the beast overhead, plunging it into the ground and into the nearby treeline.
“NO!” screamed Operetta in shock of Hoodie’s strength and anger of her pawn’s incompetence.
Hoodie brushed her shoulders off, and stretched out her shoulders with a crackling noise. She then charged at the beast with a sprint, and ran along up its back and to its head. As she approached its muzzle she hopped up to its nose and then jumped far up into the sky. Cure Hoodie stopped herself mid-air and swiftly positioned her leg outward and flew back down, successfuly landing a sharp kick. Doing so, she jabbed her scarlet heels into the beast’s snout.
She took notice of the red diamond-shaped jewel adorned on the Poisonink’s chest, and had a feeling that was its weak spot.
“Hoodie! ~lulu! Use the Precure Storybook and purify the Poisonink ~lulu! It’ll purify and return the Nostalight to the proper owner! Hurry, while it’s down ~lulu!” Lupo screamed from the sidelines, the other two fairies screaming their support as well.
Hoodie nodded in understanding, and opened up the storybook. The slot where the wolf charm was inserted was glowing, and she pressed it down lightly twice. This activates a symbol to trace on the left side’s mirror. She took the quill pen and followed the dotted line, which in turn simultaneously drew the emblem with raw energy in front of her.
Once finished, the wolf shaped emblem that stood in front of her glowed, and she touched it with the tip of her quill pen, absorbing the filling of raw energy of the emblem to the inside of her pen. This left the emblem’s outline visible still while her pen lit up with a sparkling red energy, ready to burst.
“Precure!” She made a swift motion, as if to charge up “Exciting Resolution!”
She pulled back, and pierced the glowing outline with a resounding ‘HA’, while simultaneously shoving her opposing leg forward for an added oomph factor. This action released the energy from within the pen at the Posionink in the form of a wild wolf. It charged valiantly towards its darker counterpart. Once it made contact with the monster, the beast was purified with a relaxing “Happily ever after~!”
As Hoodie closed her Precure Storybook in triumph, the monster exploded, shattering the red diamond gem it one wore. With that, the Nostalight appeared to be purified with its normal yellow hue glowing softly like it once did before.
“Tch. I’ll remember this, Precure.” Operetta grumbled before vanishing into thin air, returning the surroundings back to normal as the fairies celebrated around a proud Cure Hoodie.
She took notice of the floating ball of light, it intrigued her.
“So…that’s a Pasta-Light?” she questioned at the expense of the fairies looking embarrassed of her mispronunciation.
“It’s NOSTALIGHT!~lulu That ball of light holds memories a person holds dear to something. It usually resides within a human’s heart.~lulu” retorted Lupo.
Cure Hoodie held her hand around the flapping ball of light, she took notice of a mother and her son joyfully playing. She smiled, both out of compassion, but a bit out of envy as well.
“We simply cannot let The Grimm Empire taint and harvest these lights!~ lele” Lebed squaked.
Hoodie looked inquisitively at the fairies, beckoning them to continue.
“I promise we’ll tell you Cure Hoodie, in due time.~lulu” Lupo reassured as Hoodie nodded in understanding.
With that, the Nostalight flew back to its normal vessel with small flaps of its wings.
Cure Hoodie smiled at its departure, as for once, she took control of things in her life. And it felt good!
-----
Within Akane’s room the four lay on her bed, seemingly exhausted from their journey.
Akane sighed with relief, both from being victorious, but also for successfully lying to her parents that the fairies were actually a gift from the patron she delivered to earlier that day. Although it seemed easy once their scoldings of her arriving home so late were over, they seemed more attentive to that detail above all else.
“Very smart of you to pass us off as gifts from your delivery. ~lulu You’re more intelligent than I thought!~ lulu” Lupo jested at the girl who clearly was unimpressed with his remark.
“I’m just good at explaining my way outta trouble at this point hehe” she replied gleefully.
“Now ~lulu, tomorrow we search for any potential new Precure! ~lulu” the wolf said with resolve.
-----
A docile figure approaches a black landline phone, dials some numbers, and makes a call.
“....Hello? Yes I’d like to place an order to the Izumi Ballet Hall please...Yes, a dozen blueberry muffins please…Yes, that’s correct...a name for the order? Hakuchou Junko…Thank you, have a lovely day!”
The girl smiled softly and hung up the phone.

Chapter 1: The Story Begins! Enter: Cure Hoodie!
(Author's note: I'm not an experienced writer, this is mainly for fun and storytelling! I hope you enjoy! ^^)
~ As birds flew up in the sapphire sky, a celebration of sorts was occurring on land. A new bakery has decided to open its doors for civilians to eat their fill of pastries and breads alike.
The owners, Ichiro and Umeko Hotaru were conversing with potential patrons amidst this joyous occasion.
“Amazing, simply amazing! This bakery is just what Meruhen needs!”
“I’d say, and the theme of the establishment, Little Red Riding Hood, correct?”
Ichiro beamed with pride at the compliments.
“Yes yes, the theme was in honor of our little girl”
Umeko smiled.
“Yes, it’s her favorite fairy tale to date, speaking of… Honey! Are you coming out?”
“COMINNNNN’!!!”
A small brunette girl with twin braids looped around and came bustling out of the wooden structure, smiling and full of energy. She was on theme, dressed in a costume that made her look like Red Riding Hood herself.
“Welcome to Red’s Basket of Treats!” she beamed.
“How cute! Do you like Little Red?” a woman asked playfully.
“YUP! SHE’S SO COOL, SHE BEATS THE BIG BAD WOLF UP BY HERSELF!” The girl practically screamed with enthusiasm.
“HA! That’s not how the story ends…”
A boy with black hair slicked back snickered to himself with his arms crossed against his chest.
“...you just made that bogus ending up, Red!”
The girl stood silently before shifting her posture towards the boy and his blonde friend who seemed to be a bystander in the altercation.
“Yer RIGHT! I made my own happily ever after, you JER-”
“DEAR!” Umeko scolded, not in favor of her daughter’s poor choice of words.
The boy looked stunned as the girl donned in red pleaded with her mom in defense
“Heh, I like yer spunk kid!” he grinned.
“Ya got a name, Red?”
The girl looked taken aback, not expecting the warm response from the boy who just a second ago was picking on her. She smiled with a toothy grin.
“YEAH! I’m Akane, Akane Hotaru!” ~
--------
The sun shone down from the sky above and felt as warm as a fuzzy blanket on a cold winter’s night. It’s a fine spring morning in the small village of Meruhen, located in Panamaki, and the streets were crowded with its usual bustling markets
Nothing really new or exciting happens in this village: in fact, it’s the most easy-paced place you can think of.. Yes, the village filled with simple people with simple goals and simple lives was about to change.
One of the local hotspots of the village is a small bakery known as “Red’s Basket of Treats,” a little wooden bakery in the center of the village, decorated with a gifted steel sign hanging on the side of the building. It’s run by the local Hotaru family, one of the more known families in the village.
The family consists of a husband and wife, Papa Hotaru and Mama Hotaru, as they liked to be called, and their daughter who doubled as their speedy delivery girl! She’s very quick on her feet and isn’t afraid to get a little dirty on the job. The girl’s name: Akane Hotaru.
Akane is less feminine than a lot of the girls in Meruhen Village. She grew up socially awkward around any girl she knew, yet she befriended boys more easily. For this, she became more rowdy and scrappy than most other girls. She was also very… straightforward with her goals.
“HELL NO! I AIN’T DOIN’ THAT!”
Papa Hotaru placed a hand on his brow and grunted in distress. “Akane, please, indoor voices. We don’t want to wake up the whole village.” he sighed with a hand risen to his browline.
“Why? More people means good business– Not that I’d care about that.”
“Akane, please!” He sighed. “Akane, I’m only telling you this for the greater good of the family business.”
“Don’t care. I got my own dreams, pops.” Akane said as she placed her hands behind her head and turned away, clearly uninterested in the conversation she found herself stuck in.
“What dreams? All you do is goof off with your guy friends!”
“Oh! So it’s a crime to have fun now??” she snapped back
“Akane Hotaru I do NOT appreciate your attitude!”
Akane’s mother enters the room, confused as to what the pair could be arguing about this time.
“What is with all this ruckus?” she questioned
Akane swiftly turns away with a ‘Not my fault!’, clearly disinterested in taking the blame on their current heated debate.
Akane’s father, while leaving the room and situation to his wife, mutters a “Good luck, she just won’t listen”, as he forcefully SLAMS the door while exiting.
“Same to him! I don’t wanna take over the bakery!!” Akane hissed in anger
Akane’s mother pinched her nose in frustration, the same argument once again.
“Honestly Akane, we only ask of you this ONE thing. If you TRULY cared for the family name, you’d consider it…”
Akane felt dejected. She didn’t like to see her mother upset. She was usually more reasonable, but as of recently, Akane’s felt a bit unheard when it comes to her own dream.
…whatever that may be....
Wanting to be anywhere else but in her current predicament, Akane noticed something. There was a delivery box well packaged with scones behind her mother that Akane quickly pointed out excitedly, trying to change the subject.
“OH! A delivery? She asked inquisitively
“Hmm? Yes, I was going to ask you to deliver it but it’s quite far-”
“Ah that’s never stopped me before!” Akane cut her mother off while grabbing the box and running out the door with an ‘IM OFF!’
Akane’s mother could only watch with concern. To her, what they were asking of Akane shouldn’t be unreasonable. Everything they’ve done up until this point was for her and her happiness…
“Sometimes… I just don’t know what to do with that girl…”
-----
Somewhere in the nearby woodland, three creatures were flying hastily, as if they were in danger of being caught.
“How much farther, I’m hungryyyy ~lili”
“REALLY, we don’t have time for your complaining! ~lele”
“HUSH! Hurry hurry, we mustn't waste time, we need to find…..”
-----
After delivering the goods to the patron, Akane has a long trek home. She was too tired to run, at least that’s what she told herself, but really she was prolonging her return back, as she dreaded the consequences of her quarrel from earlier that morning. She walked on a path, then on a fallen log for a moment, passed a signpost with a few destinations at an intersection.
“Man….this delivery really WAS far away huh….” she mutters to herself.
Akane started in the direction of home, although with each step she grew more and more uneasy. It’s not easy to walk back to an unstable environment, but Akane just wants to be heard. She wants to be taken a bit more seriously with what she wants to do for her future….whatever that may be…
Suddenly the ground slightly shook, a tremor?? Akane got low to the ground, and waited out the sudden shaking. That was truly odd, this part of land usually never got any earthquakes, Akane thought…
With growing curiosity, and as another excuse to not return home just yet, she decided to do a bit of exploring, entering the nearby woodlands to try and see if there was a source to the sudden shaking of the earth. Maybe she was seeing things, but she could’ve sworn there was an eerie lighting coming from the woods during that tremor, too…
Through some shrubbery and thickets, Akane found herself alone. She wasn’t scared however, she knew she could handle anything that may jump out at her. At least, that’s what she told herself, as she heard three small high pitched shrieks of terror in the distance, slowly approaching her, until- BAM. Three small flying creatures hit her in the face, causing her to fall down!
Before Akane could shriek herself, one of the animals who appeared to be wolven in shape covered her mouth with a ‘SHHH’.
Quiet……..then, Akane heard what could only be described as…. A slithering sound? Was it a snake? No, this being sounded much too large. It stopped right behind them.
Quiet……..
“Hmmm~ Where did those three varmints go~? I wonder….” a sultry feminine voice said, before slithering off, away from the group.
Akane then had a moment to speak
“WHO-” before getting cut off with another ‘SHHH’!
“Do you WANT us to all die, ~lulu??” whispered the wolf
Akane gulped, then continued, with a whisper herself
“I ain’t no Lulu! I’m Akane, and what the heck kinda animals are you??”
And then it comes to her realization.
“WAIT YOU CAN TAL-” with another ‘SHHHH’!
“We can’t tell a simple girl like you about us! ~lulu!” angrily hushed the wolf
“This miscreant is gonna blow our cover, Lupo ~lele!” squawked the swan
“I’m hungry…~lili” Said the cub, clearly thinking more with his stomach as it growled quite loudly
Lupo then turned to his fellow fairy partners, and then to the girl who was a bit brash in his opinion
“We three are royal fairies. We don’t come from this world, girl. ~lulu”
“Oh really? Gee I thought you came from the next town over, OBVIOUSLY talking animals aren’t from this world?! What do you take me for, an idiot?” Akane puffed angrily
“Well you’ve nearly gotten us caught with your loud mouth twice now… ~lele…”
Akane got mad and screeched out without thinking
“WHADDYA MEAN LOUD?!?!”
“My My~” a familiar sultry voice said with satisfaction, she had found her targets after all.
There was a swift motion in the air, as Akane looked up to realize that the top portion of shrubbery they were hiding in had been cut off by a woman…no.
A monster. One that stood up much taller than the mere human girl, by about a couple feet give or take.
Akane quickly got up and ran ahead, quickly stopping to look back to get a better look at what that thing was. She was half human…kinda? With a serpent’s tail. That explains the slithering sound they heard.
Akane noticed the lavender scaled creature’s top half wore a leather crop top with a triangle shaped hole cut near the belly area, an emblem of sorts donned the center of the top, two scythes being held together by a red diamond shaped crystal.
The monster had deep turquoise hair pulled up into a long wavy ponytail, being held up by what seemed to be a sea urchin. Her red eyes pierced through Akane, while her darkly painted lips curled up into a wicked smile.
The woman giggled.
“Three fairies and a girl who clearly found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time? How conveniently easy for me~”
“Uh, what? Wrong place is right, for YOU, you freak of nature!” spat Akane, thinking before speaking again
…
“Hmm.”
The woman raised a huge scythe up to Akane, who gulped.
“Such insolence to involve yourself and THEN insult a beauty such as me.”
Akane was a bit shaken by the giant weapon being held in front of her trembling body, was that real metal? It’s definitely not a prop, the reflective nature of the blade was far too realistic
“Eugh, well at least you have confidence with that fishy smell you have-”
The woman’s eyes grew intense, and swiftly swung her weapon at Akane, who dodged while instinctively grabbing the fairies. She gets the sneaking suspicion those three are not in the wrong in this scenario they’ve found themselves in.
“A brat I see, and a quick one at that. Mock my beauty again and you’ll be the one swimming with the fishes, child” the woman sneered.
Akane was scared. She was just attacked, and threatened by a monstrous serpent woman. And on top of that, there are three talking animals she's trying to protect too.
“Who the heck are you??” she questioned both out of curiosity and also to gain a sense of understanding from this entire mess of an encounter.
The serpent like woman chuckled and did a bit of a glamorous pose at the question that allowed her to talk of herself, even if just for a bit.
“I am Operetta. One of the Grimm Mistresses of the Grimm Empire. And you, insolent brat, are protecting my prey. Now be a good girl, and hand over the animals, maybe then I’ll let you live with your life….for about a few seconds longer than I’d like~”
Akane was shaking, the fairies were too, unable to stand up to the beastly woman in their current state. They were seemingly at a complete disadvantage.
“N-no! I won’t let you have them. Someone who has beef with small animals clearly has something mental going on!” Akane exclaimed without thinking again.
Operetta frowned, clearly not amused anymore with Akane’s pure cocky attitude
“Then I’ll just kill all FOUR OF YOU!” she screeched angrily.
Operetta charged at Akane with her scythe, who kept barely dodging her swings and advances, and ultimately ended up tripping, knocking Lupo away from their group. Operetta took notice of this opening, and swiftly slithered towards the excluded fairy, large weapon in hand just itching to be used.
“Oh~ Well, a fourth of the job done would still be good work~” Operetta said while raising her scythe high at the meek wolven creature, ready to strike.
Lupo cowered in fear, accepting his fate at the hands of the enemy. When suddenly Akane charged in and kicked Operetta in the gut, knocking her back and dropping her weapon in the process.
“PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE, F-FREAK!” Akane sputtered, clearly sounding more afraid than she would like.
“Lulu~….” Lupo was stunned. For a girl he judged as brash a moment earlier saved his life just now… maybe she could become….
“I’LL HAVE YOUR HEAD FOR THAT, CRETIN!” Operetta screamed while charging at Akane, who was too stunned to move. Operetta got close to attacking her when a high pitched scream caught them off guard.
“LULUUUUUUU~!”
Lupo flew to Akane’s side, as a large beam of pure white blasted down onto the two. The light seemingly appeared out of the heavens, leaving Operetta taken aback.
Operetta gasped at the sudden realization of what was occurring.
“Damn it, don’t tell me this pest is….”
In this white space, Akane felt…safe? Like all time has stopped around her. She felt warm, and cozy, as if she were huddled within some blankets near a bonfire against a cold winter’s night. And then she noticed Lupo, who flew up to the front of her.
“Akane, right? ~lulu I am Lupo, one of the fairies and royals of Everafter Garden.~lulu.”
“....O-ok??” she could only agree, unsure of what was going on now in this moment.
“I’m recruiting you to become a legendary storybook vigilante, known as a Precure! ~lulu! It should grant you powers to help us get rid of this snakely fiend. ~lulu!”
“Pre…cure? Powers??” Akane was surprised at what she was hearing from the small wolf.
“Do you accept? ~lulu” he said, his eyes filled with resolve and anticipation to the brunette’s response.
“Would you stop calling me that!....”
Akane thought… she really doesn't have much of a choice right now, she needs to save herself and these fairies from the beastly foe that nearly had her head just a moment ago…
“Alright! I gotcha, power me up!” Akane said with a newly found confidence.
With that, a red book materialized with a flash of light. It had gold plating on the edges of the cover, and a matching plate in the center that read “Precure Storybook”. Akane hesitantly grabbed the item, as it opened, to reveal a phrase and a slot to insert something.
Lupo reached into his little mirror shaped broach, and pulled out a charm that slightly resembled him a bit. It looked like a wolf’s head with a red ribbon held together by a pink heart jewel at the base of the charm’s center. The edges of the golden base looked decorated as well.
He reached out to give the charm to Akane with a proud grin.
“Use this charm and put it into the Precure Storybook, and chant the phrase written inside to transform! ~lulu!”
Akane was a bit annoyed at being called ‘Lulu’ again, but took the charm and read aloud the phrase written in the book.
“Precure! Curetime Everafter!”
Akane entered the charm with a harmonious ping, and a pen popped out of the mirror of the storybook! She grabbed it, and swirled the tip of the utensil inside the small inkwell on the left page, allowing the tip of the pen to absorb an energy, turning it into a sparkling red color.
With that, she could draw small lines of energy onto herself, with swift and intense motions. It’s as if she had done this a million times before, but for the first time ever. She criss-crossed and swirled, adding bits and pieces of a costume onto herself, one that resembled Little Red Riding Hood, with pink ribbon accents with scalloped white edges against some portions, and peru brown ribbon crossing other portions.
She flicked up her iconic red hood around her head, incentivising her brunette hair to glow, and change shape into a pale pink, with a red gradient. After which small wolf earrings pinged into existence on her ear lobes.
A small woven basket flashed onto the side of her belt, and inside it the Precure Storybook flew, the quill pen not too far behind. The basket clipped shut with a familiar red ribbon with a pale pink heart jewel adorning the center of it.
“Hooded in red, journeying towards victory! Cure Hoodie!”
As the beam of light dispersed, Operetta was stunned at the outcome of what unfolded. The annoyance of a girl who once stood before her had now looked entirely different, and more powerful than before.
“Cure….Hoodie? As in, PRECURE?” Operetta exclaimed, in disbelief of the unfortunate turn of events on her side of all of this.
Hoodie took on a more battle-ready stance. It was time for her to let loose all of her anger, and protect the small creatures that stare in amazement behind her.

Here’s some lyrics for an ending theme for Once Upon Precure:
Magical Fairytale Fantasy
(I like to envision it to the tune of Healin Good’s Miracle tto Link Ring!)
Dewdrops sparkle on the shimmering leaves
A flock of birds fly along the breeze
A perfect day for a perfect time
Lets go, even more, nonstop!
The big bad wolf can’t chase us here,
After all, he’s invited!
All together, we wont be unnerved
This picnic with all our friends!
The fairytale fantasy! Vivid colors are all around!
The lake is trickling, the breeze is mellowing as butterflies disperse toward the sky!
The fairytale fantasy! Let’s make the most with what we can!
Our time together will be full of splendor so long as you hold onto my hand!
Our hearts are full of wonder
And a pinch of magic!
We’re living our lives, forget the curfew times because together we’re “Pretty Cure”!
The swans swim along the lakebed view, families of bears join our picnic too! Everyone now has a full belly, and a heart full of fun memories!
The sun will start to shift along, it’s golden rays still shining down
Forever on, we’ll have some fun, and keep this party going!
The fairytale fantasy, with all our friends we’ll truly see
This world is truly a spectacle to see when everyone lives in harmony!
The fairytale fantasy, make sure the fun never ends! Because when you’re here, i see it crystal clear, our meeting was destined to be!
A tale as old as time, these moments; so sublime
I know it stands the test, as time it never rests, because we’re all “Pretty Cure!”
The sunsets, the sky turns red, soon it’ll be our time to rest. But if the sun is up, the fun will never stop, and our day out will surely last!
The fairytale fantasy! Let’s make the most with what we can!
Our time together will be full of splendor so long as you hold onto my hand!
Our hearts are full of wonder
And a pinch of magic!
We’re living our lives, forget the curfew times because together we’re “Pretty Cure”!

To start off this account, here's some lyrics I wrote for an opening theme song for OnceUPre! ^^ (I like to imagine it to the theme of the Delicious Party Precure opening :3)
The title of it is:
The Story Begins! Once Upon Precure!
Open up! Storybook
The journey now begins!
Taken to brand new worlds
Once Upon Precure!
All around, our everyday, is a chance to become “you”! Your heart will beat with excitement, with every risk you take!
This story is truly ours, so lets take it by the reins! For now let’s imagine ourselves as the main characters!
When hope is lost, and you can’t find your way; take a look and you’ll see, all of your friends, and we’ll simply turn the chapter!
Once upon a time, no!
This story is of now!
Our hearts will surely grow, as love connects us so!
Even when all is bleak, when you’re next to me
I’ll find the courage to, break away and shine as who I am!
All of us will live happily, Once Upon Precure!
Everyone always says “you’re too young to act like that!” Who are they to dictate how I choose to live my life?!?
Unapologetically
Always “me!” To the max! My charm point will surely attract like minded people!
And if they’re right, and im acting a fool
I'll take my pen, write it again, and make the ending happier!
Our story, is here and now,
We’ll surely show you how!
Us girls are cute and strong
Together we belong!
As the dark closes in, we’ll all hold hands! The warmth will light the path
Once Upon Precure!
A roadblock is sure to come at somepoint, those are always so frustrating! Just take a breath, try again, and you’ll surely be just fine!
Is the story we’re writing nearing the end? But it’s not sad, it just means we can write a new one again!
Once upon a time, no!
This story is of now!
Our hearts will surely grow, as love connects us so!
Even when all is bleak, when you’re next to me
I’ll find the courage to, break away and shine as who I am!
All of us will live happily, Once Upon Precure!
Welcome all to the official OnceUPre Tumblr!
I've decided I'm gonna write out their story with added images here when I am able to, so chapter updates will be here! ^^
We'll all live Happily Everafter!
