What I like the most about your post-canon or canon divergent aged-up Yuuji's is the specific flavor of monster you write her or him as. A beautiful balance between kindness and determination and ruthlessness that flirts with cruelty. And every Yuuji is always so patient in the strangest and best ways. Sometimes a character assumes Yuuji has no idea about something, but then you reveal Yuuji just didn't feel like it was necessary to reveal some piece of info, and both characters had been on the same page from the start, just one of them didn't know it and it's rarely Yuuji. I'm a huge fan of those kinds of reveals, and I'm especially a huge fan of how you write them. Also, this sometimes nonreaction (not-visible reaction to outsider POV??) Yuuji has to intentionally aggravating or teasing behaviour is such a treat whenever it happens. A master at self-control and restraint. Truly, you always hit the mark.

Adult Yuuji was one of my favorite what-if scenarios to tackle even before Modulo came out—and all my existing adult Yuujis, except the one in a fugitive is also a kind of dog, was written pre-Modulo—and after I saw Modulo Yuuji, I’ve been a hundred times more batshit about it. Still, even considering just JJK canon, there’s such rich potential for the kind of person the Yuuji we see at the end will become, especially considering the social and political situation we leave him in. And that’s all without taking into account assorted canon divergence scenarios, like the role reversal one in the brute fact of flesh. AUs where Kenjaku raised Yuuji, AUs where Yuuji got to digest or merge with Sukuna—the possibilities make me crazy. And it shows! I’m delighted that you like the end results ❤️

And it’s very, very satisfying to hear you describe my go-to flavor of adult Yuuji like this—because that blend of kindness and ruthlessness wrapped up in a demeanor that alternates between genuine warmth, light-hearted humor, and inhuman implacability is exactly what I’m going for whenever I write adult Yuuji. Yuuji’s canon traits already lend themselves to that sort of layered depiction very well, and you can always stir in the possibility of him picking up a few of Kenjaku’s traits or absorbing some of Sukuna’s.

It’s that predatory edge he has. In canon, it comes out largely during fights, particularly when he locks in, but give him more time to grow into his fangs, and you’d get sharp eyes, a sharp mind, and a very patient mouth.

Any Gojou who runs into that is going to be so normal about it, as we see in that fic 🙂‍↕️
