I took Dexter to the vet today because he needed meds for another dental abcess and they did a complete 180 about their stance on giving him a dental. Last year, despite his blood work/vitals looking great, they still heavily advised against putting him under due to his age but this time they were really pushing for it and I just... I am so fucking annoyed. Like they were trying to convince ME it was the right idea when I was the one who had been pushing for it all along.

There's always a risk with putting a pup under, and I hate the possibility that it could do more harm than good, but if they had given us the OK last year we might have been able to save more of his teeth. Dex literally walks around chattering his teeth he's in so much pain, and it's just so hard to stand by and do nothing especially when I know the procedure could really improve his quality/length of life.

After a dental, he might even let me start brushing his teeth again, but right now I cant do anything but give him plaque resistant food additives and right now he can barely manage to chew a greenie.
