I actually think it might be because doctors have some of the highest burnout and suicide rates and we recently went through a pandemic where large swaths of the general public did not believe in the disease or the treatment and kept drowning in their own lungs. It takes 11 to 16 years to become a doctor and you do not start raking in cash the moment you graduate medical school, you’re overworked and underplayed and many are still battling enormous student loans. I think it’s important to note that the way the American medical system works also endangers medical professionals because it consistently puts profits over human wellbeing, patients and physicians.

Should I buy one of Maschy's spare olympics sticks? I was looking for sticks with the recessed finger thingies and was just scrolling through the pics of this one before I was like, "oh"

so I'm the first one to defend the refs, I think they have a hard job and I always cheer for them when they skate on but they are way off this series.

Like literally ignoring what should be majors by colorado but calling every high stick and hooking Chicago does.

Last game Suzuki was literally slammed into the boards neck first and limped down the tunnel and they didnt even call a minor.

many people would be happier and feel less broken if we de-centered romantic relationships but idk if queer people are ready for this discussion. simply because if you are traumatized and soft conversion therapy’d out of expressing romantic desire, the idea that romance is not important is traumatic. and then there’s the pervasive family of origin trauma. if your partner fulfills the ache of unconditional love that you never felt growing up, you understandably will want to prioritize that relationship. plus there’s the pervasive sexual shame.

which means that people who are aro and ace kind of have to navigate a soup of other people’s trauma that we trigger by existing, and definitely trigger by taking up space and CERTAINLY trigger by offering observations like this one.

this post has apparently resonated with a lot of people. i have been checking the comments & tags and a lot of people have shared this experience with me. i’m so glad you saw something of your life reflected here.

so, i just want to say, i think the blame here lies squarely on the shoulders of cishetero amatonormativity. end of the day, we are all being crushed by forces that say “you should be this way, or no way at all”, and then actively erect barriers to other ways of life.

for the people that react with anxiety or dismissal toward other-other ways of being, i ask you,with love, for self reflection.

if you have been less than your best and most generous self toward ace and aro people in the past because of very real trauma, you can be different going forward. i highly encourage you to simply read the tags of this post and listen to what other people have said. sit with it. and then ask what you could do differently next time.

if you are ace and aro and have shared here, thank you. it means a lot to me, and i am sure it means a lot to others as well.

It would be funny to get a pet pigeon, one that looks exacty like the feral pigeons in cities, and start making videos with an ongoing bit that random birds keep flying into your apartment. Just handheld footage of you filming your sweetie bird on your kitchen table like "look at this fucking thing. I can't keep my window open for TWO FUCKING MINUTES without some bullshit happening. Like mate just fuck off." and the pigeon, who knows and loves you, is just like "coo :3" and you fake-angry go "don't you fucking coo at me you feathered piece of-" and cut it short with a fake-terror scream as the pigeon flies right at you, summoned by a nonverbal command you made off-camera.

The best part of this is that because pigeons are feral (originally domesticated) and not wild, you have a good chance at success in just taking one from the outdoors and making it a pet.
