unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.

Also the thing about Destiel is the writers and actors already had four YEARS of experience with the fans shipping two male leads (even though they were brothers!) before Castiel showed up. They even staged a whole scene where the brothers wrestled on a bed because they knew the fans would go crazy for it. So there's no talking around what SPN did once Destiel took over, or viewing it as an accident. They 100% knew and made fun of it for over a decade until lgbt representation was no longer a television ratings liability.
