Recently Iâve been thinking about the different types of love languages in Omniscient Readerâs Viewpoint, The S-Classes That I Raised, and Lout of the Countâs FamilyâŚ
Not to say that each of the stories describes only one single kind of love language; they are, after all, all novels that focus on Found Family, with many different types of relationships between characters that express their love for each other in as many different ways.
Yet, Iâve noticed how at the core of each of these three stories there is one specific act of love that recurs more than others, and that becomes the true Theme each novel revolves around.
In Lout of the Countâs Family, the main love language is providing food and a home.
âHomeâ is such an important concept in LCF that Cale collects houses like they were pokemon cards. The source of his trauma when he was a child as Kim Roksu was that he was not given sufficient food, and that where he lived was not truly a shelter where he could feel safe, just a place he was trapped in.
And I donât think there are ever more than 2 chapters in a row without a character offering food to others, or asking if theyâre hungry, if theyâve eaten, why havenât you eaten, here have some apple pie!!
Cale uses his newfound money and power to make sure his loved ones are provided for. Thatâs how he adopts bonds with most of his new family.
The first thing Raon does after heâs freed from the prison heâs been trapped in all his life, is to leave food for this hopelessly weak human.
Choi Han, who has lived alone in a dangerous forest for decades, would do anything to protect his home.
The Crown Prince, who has been isolated and untrusting of everyone ever since his mother died, makes sure to always have cookies in his bedroom in case guests âbreak inâ for a visit at any time of the day or the night.
I love you, youâll never be hungry again. I love you, my home is your home.
In The S-Classes That I Raised, the main love language is words.
Yoojinâs powers are literally activated by telling people âI love youâ. Because all he ever wanted was to say âI love youâ to his brother one last time.
Because the tragedy that starts the story happens because Yoohyun loved and protected his hyung in secret for years. Silence creates misunderstandings, it creates distance, it leads to loss.
Loving someone isnât enough, tell them! Reassure them. Remember what they say, because their words are important!!
Ever since the regression, Yoojin always let people know when he loves them and appreciates them. âYouâre perfect, youâre cute, youâre so talented, youâre so handsome, you are loved.â
And as the novel progresses, whenever Yoojin is in pain, or doesnât know what to do, he turns to Sung Hyunje because he needs to be reassured, he needs to know he did well, he needs to hear he is still important to the people he loves.
I love you, please know that I love you! I love you, please tell me you love me back.
And finally, in Omniscient Readerâs Viewpoint, the main love language is time.
Time is one of the greatest sources of horrors in ORV. Eternities upon eternities of suffering, being trapped for ages in the same, hopeless loop, wishing for everything to just stop.
And yet, time is also the greatest gift characters give to each other.
Because the wounds Dokja suffered as a child, and then again and again through his whole lifeâŚ. They need time to heal. They need so much time. They will probably take forever.
So let them take forever.
Despite how much pain and worry he causes his companions by giving up on himself over and over again, his companions never give up on him. And he doesnât understand why!! He doesnât think heâs worth it. But itâs not his choice, itâs theirs. And they will go through as many tries, as much pain, as much time as it takes, before they can finally save him.
I love you, so I will wait fifty years for you. I love you, so I will live through thousands of lifetimes to find you. I love you, so I will read and reread your story for the rest of time, just to keep you alive.

keranos? like the magic card?
Batman: I ask that when leaving, anyone who agrees with the approach proposed by me and Superman signs the pamphlet next to the door.
And then the heroes come out, whoever thinks it's a good idea to be discussed again at the next meeting signs with their hero name. but Captain Marvel was the first to sign, so he didn't see how the others signed and didn't know if he should use "Captain Marvel".
He has an argument with Solomon inside his own head that lasted a little less than a second, and in the end they come to a consensus that he can sign as one of the many names of the champion of magic. but they were so⌠simple⌠billy decided to add some details, a signature worthy of an entity that's zibilions of years old and a store of immense magic.
The other day, while Billy is "saving" some kitchen leftovers in his pocket dimension, Batman arrives and approaches him while holding a paper.
Batman: Captain⌠What did you put in the signatures?
Marvel: oh? hmm, my name?
Batman: your name... Can you tell me how to pronounce it?
Marvel: oh. Yes? Ahm, its Keranos. sorry, its hard to read?
Batman: no, it's okay. It was what I thought it could be. It's just that I never found these types of letters before, despite the similarity with the current alphabetâŚ
Marvel noticed that he exaggerated a little with the decoration in the signature: yeah⌠it's a-- rune language that died a long, long, time ago, but I tried to mix it up a little with the letters from the current world so it wouldn't look so strange. The sound of the pronunciation is "keranos", so in our alphabet it could be written with k-e-r-a-n-o-s⌠Next time I'm going to use the normal alphabet, sorry⌠I⌠I didn't think that much when I wrote it.
Batman: of course. Don't worry captain. I can't imagine what it must be like to live in a world where your name can no longer be written the way it should be.
Marvel: its... ok, i like Marvel a lot too.
Batman: So⌠would you like us to start calling you Keranos?
Marvel: well, if you want, of course, I have no problem. It's one of my oldest names. but you don't have to if it's confusing, you know, me having several names.
Batman: don't worry. It's a pleasure to meet you, Keranos.
Marvel: The pleasure is mine, mister batman sir!!
There are several league members hiding in the hallway near the kitchen, whispering.
Flash: that's so cool! Marvel is so tight with his personal information, but he's letting go, he even gave us one of his names! That means he's finally opening up, right?
Wonder Woman: Indeed. Keranos⌠This name is familiar to me from the stories my sisters and I told each other. a god of the wrath of stormsâŚ
Hal: Just like the magic card???
Superman: I remembered that too. It's literally the definition of the creature, isn't it?
Hal: technically it's only a creature if your devotion is less than seven, anyway. even the way it is written.
Flash: my god, you are two nerds.
If one day they ask Marvel about the magic card, he will be genuinely confused because he didn't know it. billy never had the money to buy these games.
"oh, is there a game card with my name? a god of storms? wow, I'm embarrassed, I didn't know that name had been kept alive by these stories haha"
I was playing with Billy and Marvel's signature, thinking about how they would write differently in each form, and I ended up thinking about this
I don't know if the captain's fandom took keranos from the magic card, but that's what I found when I looked up the name and I thought it was brilliant
Teachers have tried this and are amazed when their classes donât go feral like in the book. Itâs almost as if the book was supposed to be satire and not a treaty on the nature of humanity.
thereâs a timeskip
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
after losing control of the signal fire thereâs a FUCKING TIMESKIP and when the next chapter starts everyoneâs hair is several inches longer and their clothes have rotted to shreds and theyâre still just kind of chilling!!!!
IT TAKES THE TERRIBLE IMPERIALISM MIND-POISONED EXCESSIVELY BRITISH BOYS IN THE ACTUAL BOOK SEVERAL MONTHS TO COMMIT A SINGLE ACT OF INTENTIONAL VIOLENCE, EVEN THE ONE (1) CHILD WRITTEN AS AN ACTUAL SOCIOPATH
AND then when they DO turn on each other it is because
THEREâS AN UNSPECIFIED WORLD WAR HAPPENING
AND A PILOTâS CORPSE CRASH LANDS ON THE ISLAND POST-DOGFIGHT AND THE CHILDREN MISTAKE THE PARACHUTE FOR A MONSTER AND SPIRAL INTO PARANOIA
BECAUSE CHILDREN INHERIT THE LEGACY AND TRAUMA OF VIOLENCE FROM THE ADULTS WAGING WAR AROUND THEM
HURR DURR IN THE REAL WORLD IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN LIKE IN LORD OF THE FLIES -
IT DIDNâT HAPPEN THAT WAY IN LORD OF THE FLIES EITHER YOU JUST HAVENâT READ IT SINCE HIGH SCHOOL IF EVER AND DONâT REMEMBER WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN THE GODDAMN BOOK
#tbf the dude wrote it to be a dick
yes. yes he did. iâm also gonna direct you to the real life âlord of the fliesâ which occured in the 1960s, when six tongan schoolboys got stranded on a desert island for over a year before being rescued by an australian fisherman (who, it should be noted, later took on all six as crewmembers because the reason they were out in the first place was because they wanted to see the world, and named his ship the Ata after the island they were stranded on). nobody died. the only injuries that occurred were accidental, and when one of the boys broke his leg falling down a cliff, the others braced it and looked after him so well that it healed perfectly. if they argued, then they would literally go to opposite sides of the island until theyâd cooled off. after leaving the island, they remained friends for the rest of their lives. hereâs a photo of them as adults, with their rescuer (who is third from the left) and other members of his crew.
i read about this in rutger bregmanâs human kind, a book i cannot recommend highly enough, but if you donât want to go and read a whole book about the inherent goodness of humanity (which again, you really should) then the relevant excerpt can be found here.

Name Reources
So, youâre writing a thing, and you need to name a character. And, as we all know, naming a character is a giant pain in the ass. I offer this list of shit I use pretty regularly, for this purpose.
Behind the Name (The etymologies are weird as fuck, in a few places, but itâs great if youâve got a name and need to find other names that are from or derived from the same culture/language)
Behind the Surname (BTN for family names)
Academy of Saint Gabriel Medieval Names Archive (This is the go-to for medieval names in Europe and the Near East. Hardcore scholarship and a distinct lack of fucking around.)
Kate Monkâs Onomastikon (The original internet name resource.)
The Soldier in Later Medieval England (Actual names from English military rolls around the Battle of Agincourt)
Englandâs Immigrants (Non-native residents of England, 1330-1550)
Celtic Personal Names of Roman Britain
Mapping the Medieval Countryside - People (People appearing in English inquisitions post mortem, 1418-1447)
Wiktionaryâs Index of Biblical Names
Ancient Names Galleria (The weird shit is here. If you need Akkadian or Phoenecian names, those are totally covered.)
Trismegistos People (Names extracted from the Trismegistos Texts â mostly names from Graeco-Roman Egypt.)
Personally, I use the shit out of Trismegistos People, Englandâs Immigrants, and the Ancient Names Galleria. If youâve got good sources I didnât hit, feel free to add them in a reblog. Iâm always looking for more good name resources. (And almost all of what I have is Europe and the Near East, with a little North Africa.)
Dropping this update in the most recent reblog in my notes, in the hopes it falls into as many laps as possible. Hereâs some more good sources for names, this time with a more African focus.
Wikipedia Category: Surnames of African Origin (which is helpfully divided into sections by language)
Wikipedia Category: Amharic Language Names (I believe this list is primarily, if not entirely, given names.)
YorubaName (âan online intervention to preserve and document all YorĂšbĂĄ names in a multimedia format.â)
Writing Adolescent Fiction: Character names: Kenyan, Tanzanian and Ugandan (a list of given names and surnames with notes on how full names are constructed in each culture listed)
Again, if you know any good sources, particularly for regions I havenât covered, let me know!
Rebageling with some more good shit:
So You Want to Name a Sino (a fairly detailed guide on how to name a Chinese character without sounding like too much of a moron)
Most Popular Baby Names for Girls Since 1960 (most popular American girlsâ names, by state, from 1960-2012, as a gif)
Popular Baby Names (the US Social Security database of naming trends in the US, with search options for date, gender, location, and trend)
A Guide to Names and Naming Practises (a UK government guide to common names and structure of names from around the world, split first by continent and then by culture. PDF.)
Curiosities of Puritan Nomenclature (an entire book on trends in English naming and name structure and the Puritan influence, from 1880. PDF.)
Things I am particularly looking for reliable sources for, if youâve got them: North and South American aboriginal names, Southeast and East Asian names, names from the former USSR, Australian aboriginal names. (All of these by culture or language family, if possible, not just by current national borders.)
Captain Marvel the brightest light. Brighter than the north star, brighter than the sun. He was the warmth that everyone crave.
He was caring, soft, gentle, stubborn when needed. He was just the most kindest anyone could meet.
As the 'oldest' hero he took care of everyone without any complaints. He took care of his sick and injured friends and coworkers when he could. He took their responsibility when they asked, like if taking their shift. He would agree and take it.
But even after years working with him the opinions and thoughts didn't change. They saw him helping old people cross the road, helping with animals, taking care of kids and plenty more.
So unsurprisingly, one day a jl member came in into the watchtower with a bad mood. Not only on a bad mood they were also stressed. They couldn't relax due to villain's attacks that keep on happening. They just wanted to lay down and sleep or just have a small nap.
The hero walked into the lounge room to grab a snack before they take a nap. As they enter the lounge room they heard some noise they thought about it, "Huh, who's here?" As they questioned it they peaked were they heard the noise. And saw a gigantic form, it was Captain marvel!
The hero walked into the vision of Captain with a tired but nice smile. "Hey Cap, whatcha doing?"
Captain marvel looked up from what he was doing and gave a bright smile with a small wave, "Oh hello!"
"Nothing much, I just dropped something and lost it. I'm looking for it at this moment."
"Ah I see, what exactly did you... drop?"
"Uhh..." Captain rubbed is neck as he looked around the ground, "...I dropped a small object that was in a shape of a circle. And has a small shape of a lightning printed (?)."
"Oh and the item is white with the lightning being gold."
"Mm I see, let me help you"
Captain started to quickly shake his head and as he raises his hands to refuse. "There's no need, plus you look quite tired!"
But as stubborn as Captain marvel was he was quite easy convinced when it wasn't a serious topic.
As both heros looks around the room they start making small chat. The small hero found the item it was just like he was told. It was a round watch (?) ball(?) thing that has a very bright real gold marking. He looked around were Cap was, "Hey Cap, I found it!!"
Captain marvel quickly looked to were the smaller hero was, "Wait really!! Let me see" He quickly flew next to the shorter hero and looked down his shoulder. Captain Marvel's eyes shined bright when he saw the weird looking item. With an exited and happily tone he quickly give a tight hug and a head pat on the hero before grabbing it from the heros hands. "Thank you!!"
He quickly flew off. The hero was stunned for a moment before blush swallowed their face. "Your welcome.." the hero mutter. The hero was happy, they can feel the warmth on his chest. (This is no ship)
i went to a leftist festival last month and there was a panel dedicated to prostitution, why abolition is the only road to go for leftists and how to help and support prostituted women exiting the trade, and i keep thinking about that union organizer who said, "we hear more and more that 'sex work is work', but if that were true, then there'd be professional trainings leading to a qualification for prostitution, then there'd be prostitution diplomas, then high schoolers could send applications to follow those trainings and become prostitutes. but we all know that all these things don't exist, and if they did exist we would all recognize them for what they are: a grooming business encouraging pedophilia and violence against women and girls." and what she said later; "trade unions that argue that 'sex work is work' never engage in legal battles against pimps or brothel owners. they don't even recognize that pimps are the bosses of the prostitution market. "sex workers' trade unions" don't fight pimps because sex workers' unions don't represent the alleged "workers" (prostituted women), they represent the bosses: pimps."
and that made me think of what Kajsa Ekis Ekman said about the trade unions that consider prostitution to be work and prostituted women to be workers: they offer trainings about condom use and spend millions of dollars funding "worker peer education" about "safe sex".
So one again, it's prostituted women who are held responsible for the spreading and the prevention of STDs - not the johns, not the pimps. the prostituted women, many of them victims of sex trafficking. "As human trafficking expert Malka Marcovich has pointed out, this means a return to nineteenth-century ideals of hygiene, where the onus was âprimarily on the women to take responsibility for the health of âthe customerâ, so diseases would not be spread to their familiesâ (2007, p. 347)."
It's quite obvious to any trade union organizer that prostitution is not work and the sex trade can't be organized as a trade union. a few months ago, the biggest unions in my country (which included the traditional left-wing trade unions as well as students' unions) issued a paper condemning the 'sex work is work' narrative and the pimp lobbies got so mad about that because they know their strategy isn't working because leftists know what left-wing politics look like and they know women's liberation doesn't come from prostitution. Now it's interesting that the biggest voices of the "sex work is work" movement come from the USA, where the anticapitalist left doesn't exist. American liberals love to pass reactionary politics as revolutionary but not because they are stupid in their own country does it mean they should influence the actually left-wing labour movement in other countries, right?
I literally had a friend say the best way to protect women in prostitution would be to decriminalize it and let the sex workers form a union.
I kept thinking it felt like it wouldnât work but I couldnât verbalize how. Thank you for this post.

How to read X-Men?
For the dear X-Men fans that came in through 97 (or the movies) and are confused as to where to start the comics! Don't let the internet fool you, there is only one way and it is by starting with Giant size X-Men #1 (1975). No I am not kidding, it truly is the only right way to get the full storyđ (unless you want to go ALL THE WAY to 1963, I don't necessarily think it's that vital)
This is me trying to keep ppl from making the same mistake I did, starting with wheadon's astonishing X-Men â ď¸
Here is a very useful pic of what to read next đ good luck!
This is to get ALL the context and major story arcs still referenced today. So I believe it to be vital for the other eras. (I don't know how you can fully understand jean and Scott's relationship today without having read inferno or dark phoenix for example)
Now, If you just wanna read for one specific character, that's a different story! Character specific reading guides that concentrate on the important issues across time exist! Look for those they're very useful <3
