i mean traditionally this is actually not how relationships worked at all it was incredibly common, even expected, for men to step outside of their marriages and have mistresses and go to brothels it was just that women were LITERALLY property and couldn't do anything about it and their husbands beat them and drank and stole their money too which is why we had the temperance movement. i feel like im living in a fever dream sometimes where everybody is like "the world sprang into being in the 1950s and nothing ever happened before that and women had no problems". obviously i am getting mad about a dumbass article i read online but i think it's clear the column answerer feels some sort of moral positivity towards non-monogamy but when you frame it within the broader context of Society At Large relational unethical non-monogramy is actually quite the norm for men. legal monogamy is the norm but it's a pretty new expectation to only ever sleep with your wife. tbh. it is literally fine to not be okay with your husband flirting with a coworker he told you he wants to date and it doesn't say anything about how unwoke you are and you don't need to read anything. you can just not be okay with that and leave his ass. also i would jump off a bridge if this were me
