Capitalism is the fundamental system underpinning all economic activity in most of the world. So I get confused when people look at anything bad (say, exploiting workers, hoarding profits) and say "this is because of capitalism" and then don't look at something like this and say "this is also because of capitalism". Everything is because of capitalism, capitalism is the set of base rules of how our economy functions, no??

All this to say, I wish people when people see problems in the way our economy and society work, they would just say "poor government regulation" or "poor civic education" or "not enough free-market competition" or idk, just literally anything actually actionable and not just "capitalism is the root of all our problems". What a profoundly uninteresting and unactionable statement - of course it is! It's the root of all the good things, too! What are you going to do about it, overthrow capitalism???
