Can you tell us about spittle bugs. I have only found one dispite gardening every summer in southern Canada.
You have subscribed to DAILY BUG FACTS
🪲
TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the European Alder Spittle Bug (Aphrophora alni) is a small bug found across Europe and has been naturalized to parts of North America? These bugs are polyphagous, meaning they feed on a variety of sources, such as willow, birch, alder, and poplar as adults and herbs as larvae.
The larvae create an environment with their foam (that looks like spittle, hence the name) to provide adequate protection, moisture, and temperature while living in the leaf and stem of their hosts.

their homes are messy and not at all geometrically pleasing, a morsel that takes some effort but is ultimately worth the hunt, 7/10

what an honor!
sometimes a bug lands in my drink and I say "bro is in my drink" which evolved into "there is a brother in my drink" but that feels vaguely assumptive so now I on occasion say "there is a sister in my drink" whenever a very confused fly decides to take a dip. you too can practice feminism in everyday life
morsel in my drink

Hercules Beetle
(Dynastes hercules)
(Male Hercules Beetle; Grabbed from here) Fun Fact; Hercules beetle can allegedly lift up to 850 times their weight! What an impressive measurement! Reason for being a certified bugthatcanfight; The mating rituals and competition of the Hercules beetle can consist of Males fighting each other with their horns and throwing the loser of the fight off of whatever area they are perched on.
impressive strength, yet they lack dexterity. restrict its movement and it becomes a very filling morsel 9/10.
