Daily bugsthatcanfight #2
(7/12/24)
Bombardier Beetle
(Image included; Carabidae Brachinus)
(image from here)
Fun Fact; They tend to gather with other members of its species whenever it's not hunting or looking for food! They gather.
Reason for being a certified bugthatcanfight; Bombardier beetles, as many know, shoot a boiling or near-boiling liquid out from their butts. This is to ward off predators and defend themselves from other things. Shit hurts. I don't know the specific chemistry behind it (despite having the wikipedia article open I don't have a big enough brain to summarize it), but shit hurts to get hit by apparently.
Please do not forget this humble creature

(MOST OF MY SOURCING IS FROM WIKIPEDIA BC IDK WHERE TO LOOK SORRY LOL)
Hercules Beetle
(Dynastes hercules)
(Male Hercules Beetle; Grabbed from here) Fun Fact; Hercules beetle can allegedly lift up to 850 times their weight! What an impressive measurement! Reason for being a certified bugthatcanfight; The mating rituals and competition of the Hercules beetle can consist of Males fighting each other with their horns and throwing the loser of the fight off of whatever area they are perched on.
impressive strength, yet they lack dexterity. restrict its movement and it becomes a very filling morsel 9/10.
