I've seen some transfems saying "wanting to be a girl is a symptom of being a girl" which is a way more succinct way of saying what I'm getting at here? Thank you transfems <3 it applies to any other gender too though

Anyway. Basically. Being trans isn't a choice in that we can't Just Be Cis Instead but also when you're first working out your gender the first step can be going "wait, I can just do that?" For a lot of people and that's Okay. That's literally fine

Using neopronouns is lovely and good. You have nothing to be ashamed of. You deserve to feel comfortable with your own pronouns. Your happiness is worth the learning and adjusting. Your happiness is worth the time it takes to learn new words.

The eighth annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 10th March 2021.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

The survey is due to close at noon UK time tomorrow, which is in about 14 hours, though it may be a little longer because I have a busy day lined up! So, there’s still time to respond if you haven’t gotten around to it yet.
