That's definitely a part of it, but that discounts the discrimination we face even from supposed trans allies who do believe trans people are their genders. There are people who act transphobically towards trans men fully knowing and believing they are men, and their transphobia is colored by their hatred of trans men for being men. I don't think it's helpful to say that all transmasc-specififc oppression is just "people see you as a confused woman" because it ignores the very real and very harmful transphobia we face where we get accused of being aggressive, dominating, oppressive men invading and controlling queer & women's spaces.

People who say this do not actually believe we're Women, But Confused, the same way transmisigynists do not actually believe trans women are Men, But Predatory (if they did, why wouldn't they respond the same way to them that they do to cis men who prey on women- i.e., general denial and/or acceptance (as long as they are white)?)

A core tenant of transphobia is that trans people are not seen as a part of, or equal to, cis binary genders. Trans men are not seen as men, but we're also not seen as women; we're seen as people who are supposed to be women, but who refuse to do what we're told.

Under cispatriarchy, "trans" is not viewed as a modifier to cis binary genders that can either be accepted or not; it's a whole other class of person. It's someone outside of the system, someone who refuses to participate in the system, and someone who needs to be either taught correctly, punished until they do better, or eradicated entirely, so that the system is not threatened.

"Transmisogyny" describes a reaction to people who cispatriarchy believes are supposed to be men, but who refuse and choose to be women/ish instead.

"Transandrophobia" describes a reaction to people who cispatriarchy believes are supposed to be women, but who refuse and choose to be men/ish instead.

To say that the latter does not exist is to say that transphobia itself doesn't exist. There is no version of transphobia where a trans person can be accepted as a legitimate (but misguided) counterpart to a cis person of any gender- the fact that we are seen as rejecting, defying, and threatening the system is a crucial part of transphobia & trans experiences.

A classic sentiment ofc but the replies really show how much the community is blind to/ignores VERY COMMON acts of transphobia to transmascs.

This part of the thread is op having no clue of the extremity of infantilization. Terms believing transmascs shouldn’t have their own bodily autonomy is not “empathy”, it’s viewing transmascs as less than and thus incapable of making their own decisions.

Yea trans women are accused of erasing women, but here’s a shocker, SO ARE TRANS MEN, CONSTANTLY. Every time we ask to be included, we’re told to shut up. To me op is just living in their own world and refuses to step out of their echo chamber or something because this is one of the most ridiculous threads I’ve come of cross.

Trans men are absolutely accused of "fetishizing gay men" and even accusing of wanting to r*pe gay men, all the fucking time - there's even a slur directly correlated with it.

We are absolutely accused of transitioning solely to "access male privilege" and the spaces associated with it.

I didn’t realize:

- “love at first sight” is just a joke

- celebrity crushes are a joke

- characters from shows and movies being one’s sexual awakening aren’t actually a thing

- people don’t actually ask their friends to set them up on dates

- everyone had formed a friendship with their current partner months/years before ever viewing them in a romantic light

- the idea of dating someone you’ve been friends for years with is normalized and not viewed as potentially ruining the friendship

- that whole “I’m in love with X, but they don’t even know I exist” thing is made up

- the whole “X changed their look and I find them hot now” is also made up

- flirting with strangers isn’t a thing

- asking out someone you just meant isn’t a thing

- blind dates aren’t a thing

- one night stands are complete fiction

- no one has ever been turned on by a stranger
