ok nobody look at me crazy if i make a new blog........
so i fell down a flight of stairs 😂✌️ replies will be a moment sorry
they find minkyu perched on the hood of their car after the race. not a strange sight on its own, but— "where's jihoon?" tania doesn’t remember offering to be minkyu’s ride, which usually means that jihoon should be around somewhere and has a car to take the two of them back. still, fourth place today isn’t horrendous. “are we celebrating or something? taking my car out for a spin?” not really worth a celebration, exactly, but it’s minkyu. any excuse will do with him. but then their gaze finds his, and tania frowns. slowly, they say, “do you need something?”
starter for . . . @niziui / from tania hardja.
if driving himself home was a feasible option, he would have already been deep in a bag of taco bell and crying into his chalupa. but his own beaten up ride is in the shop — again. something about a carbonator or a radiator leaking. “uhh ... i don't know. maybe he got run over or something.” he sounds a little too haughty, not to mention the poor word choice. it wouldn't be the worst thing, jihoon all injured and looking for some tender, lo — no. he drags himself out of that thought and focuses on tania instead. “of course we should celebrate! fourth place is huge! we can get some beers, get some taco bell, drive up to tampa and start new lives ... the usual.” of course they can see through him, minkyu has never been good about hiding the wounded, kicked puppy dog aura of his. instead of acknowledging it, he only attempts to distract from it with a smile a little bit too artificially bright. “me? no? what?” the half of pack a cigarettes he'd smoked earlier in an attempt to look cool and relaxed were complete bullshit. “we should just hang out. unless you had plans, of course. i can always wait for you to cancel them.”
SPECIAL DELIVERY for @eunwviie, from geum hanuel.
“i'm grateful you've considered me for this ... project of yours,” he begins, voice lacking any energy to imply the words mean something. his gaze finds just about anything to look at besides her, thinks she sticks out of the monotone dark brown and black scheme he's kept for the past six years in a way that verges on unsettling. “but i'm a busy man. i don't have time to entertain you all day.” his back manages to straighten even more, perfected posture accompanied by a hand that raises and gestures to the door. “if you'll excuse me, i have another appointment to prepare for.”

SPECIAL DELIVERY for @mademonstrous, from levi acker.
“you ever think this whole thing is gonna fuck us up someday?” can barely see anything beyond the smoke, body sprawled out on some wrinkled sheets, feet dangling off the edge he could barely even fit on anymore. life didn't exist in here — that was the lie he sold himself on. free to get wrapped up in the wrong person, tangled up and limbs weighing each other down. make a few mistakes and lie his way out of any consequences. yell, scream, let everything out in this room until it was so suffocated with feeling neither could breathe. “feel like we bring out the worst out in each other.”
SPECIAL DELIVERY for @mademonstrous, from kwon mirae.
“seat taken?” a question that isn't so much one she wants an answer for, slides onto the chair anyway. skirt that's too short is riding up, hair is tussled from the race — all dolled up to be nothing special by the end. her ride is rear ended four minutes in, bumper dragging onto the ground, hot pink paint job scraped up into bits on the road. she's pretty pissed, which is nothing new. fortunately, she's eye candy always helped with a sour mood. “buy me a drink.”
his fingers press harder against taesung's lower back, digging deep enough as if he’s trying to leave an imprint before taesung can twist away from his touch. when he finally does, sam doesn’t stop him, instead letting his own hand fall back to his side. of course taesung wouldn’t wait—wouldn’t even so much as acknowledge what samuel’s hand on his back meant. he almost laughs at the audacity of it all, watching taesung walk out without another word.
sam follows, arms still tucked to his sides. a hand only reaches back out into taesung's space when he fishes out a lighter, sam's fingers snatching it right out of his grasp before he could flick it. his eyes find taesung's. "was i?" sometimes it makes him feel desperate. he means to bruise, and yet. he flicks the lighter aflame. angles it toward taesung, and then sam hums, "you looked awfully lost. couldn't help myself. that a problem?"
the issue remains — even when samuel isn't touching him, even when he's isn't in the same vicinity as him, he can feel the ghost of those warm fingers anyway. hands that have been too greedy, grabbing and holding yet never long enough to leave an indent. it's nothing more than a phantom burn, constantly left on edge even when the real version is in front of him anyway. he does care to satiate sam's ego anyway, isn't going to give him anything more than the silent agreement that comes along with two people that couldn't seem to undo the knot their entanglement had formed. “yeah. makes you look a bit pathetic,” he draws out, like meaningless words he throws out for nothing more than a reaction. lost. wants to laugh at the word, deny it. they only seemed to enjoy each other at their worsts, when both or either were nothing more than halves of men that still couldn't make a whole one. he can't even fault him for it, not when he was no better. except the other man didn't seem lost, or perhaps not much as before. an uneven balance between the two, no more of either trying to push the other further down when they existed no longer on the same playing field. he'd ask how things were going — but he doesn't really care. doesn't care if samuel's managed to figure it out or not. he doesn't care. he leans his head in, lighting the cigarette of a flame all but stolen from him. “then again. you always liked doing it.”
keiji's eyes wandered over her shoulder, where the cacophony of life in the dorm waged on: the girls fighting over grilled cheese as if annie couldn't make another ( as if she wouldn't make ten more if sena batted her eyelashes the right way ), geonu looming over his science experiment of a meal, yeongsik male manipulating his way three more inches into the friendzone. “honestly,” he murmurs as she pulls him towards the door, “i think we should get out before they notice we're here.” he shoved his feet into his shoes, snatching up keys from beside the doors ⎯ yeongsik's keys, but he won't miss them. “what are the chances the dorm won't be covered in blood by the time we get back?”
she'd been foolish to anticipate being in a normal group, with normal people. frankly, everyone here was completely off their rocker. except for the two of them, of course. she'd quickly clung herself to keiji like finding a sun spot in a shaded room, comforted by having someone that shared similar sensibility to her. if you ask her, this was completely normal. and just how she felt about him was entirely normal too. “they wouldn't try anything ... i think.” her eyes glance over a sweater for a millisecond — likely sena's — forgoing it for no particular reason at all. “depends how long jinsoo stays in his yeongsik induced trance for actually. joys of being the big, not so bad leader.” still miffed it wasn't her — if only her trial run had gone exactly to plan.
that is most displeasing. beomseok doesn't know what to make of the sick turning in his stomach with hanbin's nonchalant response. he sniffles indignantly. “i have a book on plant-tending,” he boasts, ignoring the question thrown back at him, because surely that is the issue here. the disregard for the succulents. “they only need water once every week ⎯ one and a half to two weeks if the pot is medium or large, but really, i highly doubt someone who can't keep a desk plant alive is getting large pots of succulents. and i know how to portion the ingredients for the soil. surely, a beginner should know how to mix the pumice, soil, and perlite. even if you can't get your hands on good scoria, that's just common sense. if she can't even do that, think of what that means for any potential relationships. are you willing to consider a future with someone who won't even purchase decent perlite?”
undeniably, a sick sense of satisfaction climbs up, sticking to the back of his neck and forced to restrain himself from smiling at the feeling. he should entertain mildly flirty conversations from his coworkers more often, especially if this is the end result. “pumice? perlite? scoria? now you're just making shit up.” he silently recalls just how many of his own succulents died at his own hands — starts to wonder if beomseok is latching onto the first fault he can find in ... what's her name again? “is this, like, code for something else? am i the plant in this scenario? or is the relationship the plant?” brows furrow, leaning back in his chair as it creaks in protest. he's already surmised that attempting to pick at beomseok's brain is futile, instead just sums it up to him being his special little big guy. “unless this is, of course, you being threatened by her. don't worry, seokie. you're the only person in this office i'd let french kiss me in a storage closet. wanna do it again?” they never have actually — unless hopes and dreams counted. but how can he not be shameless when beomseok so undeniably wants him so bad?

open to: anyone muse: meiqi wu (early 20s, professional matchmaker) plot: meiqi is used to getting everything she wants and everyone fawning over her but this time things are different
“I just don’t get it! Why don’t you like me?” Gaze remains fixed on their face, determined to study every minuscule change in their expression. It’s not like Meiqi to be quite this honest and whiny but the buzz of alcohol had brought it out of her, pout set firmly on glossy red lips. “I’m rich and smart and beautiful. What more could you possibly want? Do you know how many people would kill for a chance to be with me?”
the truth is — he does. he could probably look past the fact that she's a lunatic ( found it hot sometimes ) or that she's entirely too self - absorbed ( so is he ). but a relationship is exactly what he's not looking for, hasn't been what he's wanted for years. “oh wow, you're really one of a kind,” he drawls out, stuffing down further sarcasm with a sip of his own drink. there were dozens of girls who were rich smart, and beautiful all while being way less mouthy. unfortunately, he seems to prefer the one who's in front of him anyway. “why are you trying to complicate shit between us? if you want a boyfriend — by all means, go get one.”
she stares at him with a disgusted curl to her lips. “i don't have side hoes. i have equal opportunities.” which is just what he gets for breaking up with her ⎯ or she might've broken up with him. the details really don't matter. even as she says it, he's reaching for her and she's stepping into it, his lies so painfully obvious, she's almost overwhelmed with the urge to hit him. it passes, though, as it almost always does. “you literally did not even answer my question. i'll let it go this one time, but if you ever give another girl flowers again, i'm putting your balls in the ninja smoothie maker and adding that shit to your useless protein shakes.” then, as sweet as jyde wants her to be, she plants a chaste kiss to his lips. “i mean it. you're on thin ice, equal opportunity number four.”
“equal opportunities for what?” unamused as it is irritating she'd even consider stepping on the hand of any one else actually. their breakups are meaningless! fleeting! everyone knew it, especially after how painfully awkward they could make a room with the two of them in it. “okay well, that wouldn't well go with chicken beast. can't you just spit in it instead? it's like a win - win for us both.” to think he's been designated as the benevolent, princely visual of the group. he pouts a little, responsibility torn between attempting to appease natsu for the nth time. “but it's my job. they're gonna cancel me if i'm not nice to everyone.” he could already see the viral tweets coming. almost makes him shiver if not for the ounce of affection he's giving, grinning and leaning in for more like a starving dog. “i'm number one and we both know it.”
presses her tongue sharply against the inside of her cheek in a tight, an effort to suppress the rising surge of annoyance. the lingering heat of their intertwined hands and his complete lack of a panicked reaction is beginning to grate on her nerves. his composure serves as the absolute best fuel for her stubbornness; she flourishes under a challenge, and his refusal to break only solidifies her desire to blow this entire situation out of proportion. if a fake engagement won't get that specific, satisfying vein popping in his neck, she will gladly escalate the theater until he has no choice but to drop the smug act and surrender. “ you’ve been thinking about me that way too ? ” lets out an overly dramatic, breathless gasp, lifting her free hand to press her palm against her mouth in a display of shocked adoration. “ oh, stop it, you, ” she coos, letting out an exaggerated, high-pitched giggle before delivering what is supposed to be a playful slap to his chest, ensuring the blow lands with a little too much force to mask the hostility behind her smile.
“ oh, come on. you know a girl like me is not that easy. you should wait until we’re married, ” notes with a forced sweetness, leaning her face a fraction closer to his until their boundaries blur. flutters her lashes in a ridiculous, rapid rhythm that completely mocks the gravity of his innocent tone. “ you know what they say about saving the best rewards for the very end. the anticipation only makes the final victory taste sweeter, doesn't it ? ” stares directly into his eyes, her expression shifting into a bright, predatory grin as she surveys the casual line of his shoulders. “ but we need to dress you for the occasion first. this clothing of yours simply won't do, my baby cakes. how about a makeover ? ” lets out a loud, excited squeal that probably causes a few passing students to look in their direction, entirely unbothered by the spectacle. reaches up to nudge his forehead playfully, her fingers hovering near his hairline. “ oh, come on it will be so fun! i’ve been dying to do something about the messy nest on your head. ”
this is fun, he thinks. normally his irritating personality stems from impassive nature and recklessly doing whatever he wanted. hardly does it come from purposefully getting on anyone's nerves, though every micro expression that highlights meilin's frustration fills him with a sense of satisfaction. he's this far in, no use breaking now. what's the worst that could happen? surely one of their parents would reject this entire charade to begin with, the equivalent of putting two bombs in one room and seeing which one would blow up first. wouldn't be him, of course. "don't be so modest, everyone knows you're so far out of my league." a sudden change in performance, pressing his fingers to the bridge of his nose, shutting his eyes to mimic overwhelming emotion. except he can barely hide the shit - eating grin that threatens to break. "i just can believe you're all mine now," he remarks, tightening his grip all while she shoves him a little too roughly, sending both of them backwards at the same time.
"really? but you were so eager to make the first move just a couple of minutes ago?" the first thing he notes, is how weirdly close they're standing right now. how he can see her obnoxiously bat her eyelashes, hiding the otherwise unhinged look he just knows is behind those eyes. there's only two ways out of this: he folds, or she does. he's still banking on the latter, wry smile that could nearly pass as something with genuine affection. "you're teasing me, but i'm not that patient. i think that's what you like about me though," the real challenge is leaning closer, feeling her eyelashes practically dancing on his cheek. his eyes can only follow hers from this distance, ears popping from the squeal that perhaps a few inches too close to his ear. "my clothes?" he almost sounds offended, but it's not as if he's dressed for any proper occasion. if he didn't have to keep up an act, happy smile and all, he'd groan at the idea of her doing any of this. "i wouldn't call it a nest," he says, annoyance at the very edge, placated by a soft expression, trailing his hand up to her wrist and shifting her hand to the top of his head. "don't you think i look good?"
the contents of his whisper almost miss her entirely, briefly overshadowed by proximity. he's close enough that his cologne teases her nose and the heat of her cheeks comes unbidden and inevitable. she fumbles to get her phone out of her purse, nearly dropping it in her haste but somehow managing to get it into his hand instead. “there's no code on it,” she belatedly points out, the screen already coming to life beneath his touch. she's never had a reason to put a passcode on her phone; it's not as if she has anything worth keeping secret or anyone around to pry if she did. the thought slides right off of her, so commonplace that it no longer warrants the misery built into it. she falls silent instead, fingers drumming against her knee as she watches him use her phone. summer chirps around them, a lively hum that extends to the people and insects and trees. it's the painted toenails that stick out of sandals, the sweat that leaves shoulders slick and armpits sticky with heat. she feels it changing the texture of her fingertips, a thin sheen that she can't quite rub away.
it sits, too, on xavier's skin: a fine moisture hidden in the vellus of his cheek, threatens to gather beneath his nose. his features are smooth, lacking the wrinkles of someone who frequents pockets of joy, and allows her attention to slip smoothly from one to the other. the bead of sweat gathering at his eyebrow, down to the mindless, automatic flare of a nostril caught mid-exhale, to the way his cupid's bow sits just beneath it. even his lips are smooth, though she imagines chapped lips would be bad for business. and still, her eyes trace the shape of them, wondering at their texture. their softness. how they'd feel to ⎯⎯⎯⎯
she tears her eyes away, flustered. what felt like a lifetime was only seconds, her phone still in his hand, but even that long is too long to have been staring so much. she clears her throat, fingertip tapping her knee again. when the waitress wanders over to them, it's nothing short of a relief. “can i get another lemonade?” she asks, even though her first glass is only a little less than half-full. she's parched now and possibly a pervert. “and...” eyes drift over to xavier once more, this time with purer intentions. her treat, after all.
contrary to the stellar reviews and experience, he wasn't much of a good date. didn't know how to plan things, didn't know how to take initiative. can't think of a moment he's gotten a number that wasn't willingly offered to him, where he's been the one to lean forward and express himself in a way his subconscious had learned to fight against. but it's her phone in his hands, playing pretend like he had a clue. it's not the newest phone, not the oldest one either though. something in the middle, like even tiffany's phone wanted to sell itself as unassuming. "that's concerning," he mumbles under his breath, navigating to the phone app. inputs his number and first name only, sending himself a text along with it. he's not the type to pry, not that there seems to be much going on anyway. would almost feel embarrassed to reveal his own, chipped on one of the corners — keeps forgetting to get it fixed or replaced — red notification numbers next to nearly every app, no sense of order or thought put into the layout.
he won't admit it out loud, but he can feel her eyes long before she looks away. his gaze remains on the phone longer than needed. wouldn't have taken more than half a minute to add his contact in, yet his gaze lingers. on nothing really. for both of their sakes, though mainly hers. the heat doesn't seem to help either, face kept impassive even as it warms, pressing his lips together and swiping the feeling of excess moisture with his tongue in the same motion, bottom lip tugged between his teeth until it inevitably feels okay to look away.
her phone locks with a clicking sound, set back on the table between them. it isn't just his face that feels warm, would go far enough to say it's his entire body — but feels the tension most on the back of his neck, heating up from what he would blame on the sunny weather today. "i'll have a lemonade too." nearly wants to make it alcoholic — but he has a feeling it'd be a bad idea around her. "it's kinda hot today, isn't it?" he basically mumbles his words, acknowledging how pathetic it was reverting to small talk about the weather.
almost again, anruo realizes how ridiculously hopeful she has been the entire time thinking that once he agrees to help, everything would just fall into place, like magically somehow, she is no longer a boring writer. the dates don't plan themselves, and as much as she has faith that together with him, they will figure something out, it's just that they have never really had to try before. it's not like they haven't hung out together before, they just need to make it more ... romantic. as romantic as it could be, as friends that are pretending to be lovers during those hours.
she stares at him, questions swimming around in her mind wondering just how he manages to do all this. going on dates isn't exactly a foreign thing to her, having been on several over the years. they just never felt remarkable enough for her to wish for seconds and thirds. none that makes her exceptionally excited, or comfortable. "okay, let's try this again: what was your favorite date?" it's only when the question is out of her mouth that she realizes it may have been a little too personal. she's watched him fall in and out of relationships, seen the way he lights up at the beginning and how he slowly fades toward the end, and she's just never really seen or known the details that would matter the most. what made him fall? what made him leave? what kind of lover makes his heart race? the kind of details that she usually hunts for her characters, and luhan — despite being one of her closest friends — well, she's just never pried into the romance aspect of things too much. there's some lines that friends shouldn't cross, she thinks. asking too much about someone's love life feels like overstepping, like peeking through a window that was never meant to be opened for her.
but there is no other time like now to cross it. or her book would fail, she tells herself. clearing her throat, she sits up straighter, like trying to take the matter more seriously. "tell me everything. the vibe. the location. hell, even the weather." not like she would suggest them to replicate that completely, but some reference is always good. "the most exciting activity i could think of right now is visiting the diy baking studio, which probably isn't that exciting too. like, congratulations, we made cookies. now what?"
uncertainty lingers, not exactly a surprise considering his original stance hasn't changed much. sometimes, two people are fated to only be friends, luhan wonders if that's just the cards they've been dealt. that a few meaningless dates will go by, and they'll either feel nothing, or worse, something. he's pretty sure anruo hasn't thought that far ahead. the idea that they could potentially fall for each other, that she'd perhaps get a real look into romance and dating at the cost of their friendship never being the same. luhan doesn't think he's the kind of person who can feel something and let it go, not act on it, not pursue it. the thought of it all scares him more than the alternative of hours wasted pretending to be something.
because as much as he dislikes to be so, he's someone entirely guided by his heart. not only in relationships, but in every facet of his life. luhan became used to listening to what his heart told him, even when it led him astray. it was his heart that had loved to dance on be on stage, so that's the only future he's ever considered for himself, even when it had come with more hurdles than successes. this is the part where he struggles, because the best dates had come from a place of genuine love and affection, being with someone so deeply cherished more provoking than any grand act. but he didn't feel that way for anruo, or at least ... he knew she didn't feel that way about him, so he couldn't possibly tell her that his best date couldn't be recreated. "i don't think ... it should be anything big. that's not what dates are about, you know? it's more about focusing on each other, getting closer, in a sense." the most amazing date could be something so utterly simple. he has a feeling she won't really get that part. "the date isn't as important as what happens on it. that's what i'm trying to say," he clarifies.
he considers being blunt with her for once. it feels like she's treating something as nuanced as romance like a science experiment. instead, he brushes off her request entirely. "i don't know. we eat the cookies?" it doesn't have to be something monumental, in fact, luhan thinks if they went on some overly thought out date that made it into her book as a reference, her editor might look at her crazy. "why don't we go to a park or something? like an amusement park. maybe the adrenaline will help you think with your heart instead of your brain."
