Iâll have you know that when I was 19 (11 years ago, long before the advent of this existential crisis) I wrote a paper I was given three months prior the night before it was due. I started at 10pm, finished at 230am, got up at 6am to edit, turned it in at 630am. 10 page minimum, I wrote 13.
I got 117% on that paper.
117% percent.
You do NOT need to be able to write 13 pages in 5 hours. You do NOT need to get 117%. You do NOT have to excel at everything, or even anything.
But you DO have to try. If you choose not to, youâre not pitiable. Youâre pathetic.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.
really love keeping up with my mutuals through their little tags and vent posts. getting updates on how theyâre doing is something like: glad to know your job at the library is going well. iâm sorry you havenât gotten that raise. glad your finals went well. iâm sorry your teacher is so unhelpful. glad your tv show got renewed. iâm sorry they killed your favorite character. glad that you scored tickets to see your favorite artist. iâm sorry they arenât touring near you at all. glad your cat is doing well. iâm sorry your mom is sick again. glad youâre feeling better now that itâs your favorite season. iâm sorry your meds arenât working. glad youâre married now. iâm sorry you have to step back for your mental health. glad youâre still here. iâm sorry life is so hard. glad youâre alive, i hope things get easier for you soon

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damageâŚ
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.
