Finally done with my piece for Mass Effect Appreciation Week! I wanted to draw Vela with core founding moments to her life, especially events in Mass Effect 1, as well as give her a full body render for the first time.

At this point I don't just get sad about Mass Effect characters, but also about the Normandy. She's a perfect parallel for Shepard: she dies when Shepard dies, then her body too gets violated with upgrades and by the end of the trilogy both are a mix of synthetic and "organic" (if EDI could be considered at least spiritually organic). The Normandy is there in all the worst and best moments, we see Shepard leaping onto safety to her multiple times, we see Shepard reminiscing while looking at the Normandy. The first SR-1 gets a memorial like any other character. She's there when Shepard says goodbye to their lover for the last time. Idk man I'm emo about a spaceship

Mass Effect: 3 [Legendary Edition]
This blurry to hell version of my favorite digital painting I've ever done is the only copy of it that still exists (my old hard drive had a wine and cat related incident) which makes me so sad cause I had a blast with this background.
I've learned a lot since then so maybe one day I'll give it another go...
I would like to have a word with whoever decided that the correct way to deploy the mako was approximately eighty miles above the planet's atmosphere. And not just because I'm scared of heights.
Over at Patreon, society6, and redbubble we don’t throw you out of a moving vehicle at an alarming height, mako or no mako.

which one is Ur fav?
Normandy SR-1
Normandy SR-2
have not played ME but am curious
No nuance answers pick and tell me why
When Shepard and Kaidan have/adopt kids those are going to be the most protected children in the galaxy.
Their parents are the first two human spectres, one of which curb stomped the reapers and the other of which is one of the most powerful human biotics (or both of which are if you play a biotic Shep)
They have Jack as an aunt, who will rip apart whoever so much as looks at them wrong
Their other aunt is the goddamn Shadow Broker
Uncle James Vega would 100% punch someone out for them
I wouldn’t put it past auntie Miranda to threaten someone for those kids
Tali and Garrus, the power couple who can murder you at close and long range
The entirety of the krogan race
Kasumi
Angry space grandpa definitely calls them crotch goblins and such but also shoots people who are mean to them
I’m not convinced EDI (who is definitely alive because BioWare can kiss my ass) wouldn’t just dox cyberbullies while Joker cheers he her and also shoots at them from a fighter with Steve as his copilot
Mass Effect 2, the adventure continues!
Tali! I found my girl but may have made a mistake in telling her to take the Quarian with her instead of asking her to join us. I just felt bad for the guy and wanted him to go back to his people but, I swear, as soon as I clicked that option, I realized I'd just passed on the other option to invite Tali with me. If that somehow locked me out of anything with her, well, I'll have to come back to this mission in order to fix it. 😬
The Normandy 2! Okay, I have to say that I just finished touring the 4 decks and I LOVE this ship! I loved the Normandy 1 but all of the new additions just make the 2 so much more immersive! Plus, it honestly feels more like the Tempest from Andromeda and I adore that ship, so there you have it. 💖
Shepard can have fish! I remember reading something about that before and I'm so excited! I honestly could just stand here for a while looking at it empty, it's so peaceful, but I can't wait to have some occupants! Or just one. Can't remember. But I do know you have to feed it, so will stay on that for sure!
This outfit doesn't fit my sweet Paragon Shep but believe me when I tell you that I'm GOING to wear it at some later playthrough, lol!
No offense to Miranda and Jacob but I can't wait to get my squad together! Who do you like to take with you in ME2? Do you change it up depending on the mission? Do you have a ride-or-die that you always bring along with somebody else more mission-specific? I'd love to hear anything you'd like to tell about!
I finally read something that made it click for me when it comes to your squadmates and "telling" them which target to use their powers on: just consider that their powers are your own, rather than think of it as directing somebody else. Since you can map a power from each of your squadmates to the left and right D-pad, it works out just like having Shep use his own powers. That finally made sense to me, yay!
Oh, I also went ahead and kept Shep as a Vanguard. I read through the descriptions, powers and weapons available to all of the classes at the start but just honestly couldn't tell which would be best suited to my style of play. I like to get in there and brawl, so Vanguard seemed as good a choice as any. Though I also like to hang back and snipe and I don't know if I'll have a sniper option like I did in 1. Guess we'll see!
Aria! She's so no-nonsense, I love her already! 😍
Okay, just wanted to get some of my thoughts down. I had a rough start but am picking up the combat a little faster now, though I'm not entirely sure about the Galaxy Map. In ME1 and Andromeda, you don't "go" to every place you look at but the first time I sorta explored around the map, it looked like I was legit flying the Normandy 2 to all of those places. And I see there's a fuel depot on the map. Do I have to manage our fuel and make sure we don't run out of gas, too? That's so much PRESSURE, ZOMG. 😱😉
Oh well, I'll figure it out eventually! I'm already really enjoying ME2 and can't wait to get my squad recruiting going!
Love you, frens, hope you're had a great weekend and this next week is better than you could ever hope! 🤗🤗🤗
