AU: A Perfect Prom
Dawn’s college graduation was, surprisingly, calm. No apocalypses, no portals to Hell, just music and nervous teens in ill-fitting suits.
Buffy stood by the gym wall, not as a Slayer lurking in the shadows, but as a respected psychologist. Sunnydale recommendations went a long way in a new job.
The Slayer was no longer a shy, abandoned teenager. She was a confident woman now, one who didn’t apologize for her desires and took what she wanted. And, as was now tradition, Buffy sometimes wanted Spike… or, at other times, a brand-new stake.
Black suit, crisp new tie, that infuriatingly self-assured smile. William was always at her side. The hell of a woman he adored most. Spike looked like prom nights were his natural habitat. He’d definitely taken tango lessons. His movements were far too precise, almost annoyingly so.
“Care to dance, William Pratt?”
His grin widened. “For you, always, Goldilocks.”
Their chemistry was so obvious the graduates were whispering, and Buffy’s fellow teachers finally had fresh gossip to chew on. The night was perfect.
When the lights dimmed, the couple kept dancing. Dawn rolled her eyes with a very clear “I can’t believe this, it’s like high school all over again” expression. Andrew hovered nearby, openly staring at Spike in pure admiration.
Buffy just pulled the vampire closer.
