If you are in the mood for guideverse, I feel like guide!Sunday x sentinel!Reader has a lot of potential. Sunday being an S-class guide for your guild who works with a number of their top sentinels. You're a B-class sentinel, good but in your eyes not good enough to warrant taking up the time of one of best guides your guild has ever had. Sunday himself doesn't seem to share that opinion though, volunteering to guide you when you run into him at your guild's headquarters after a mission. This happens increasingly often and at some point turns into regularly scheduled guiding sessions being added to your calendar regardless of whether you've been out in the field that week or not. Sunday is never anything less than professional in your guiding sessions, so you have no reason to think there's anything amiss until a mission goes sideways and you find yourself in need of a guide—urgently. It's when you stagger to the floor assigned to B-class guides at your guild's headquarters that you learn it has been made very clear to all of the guides present that your guiding sessions are to be handled by Sunday only.

I imagine his guiding has an almost drugging effect on sentinels. It's extremely potent, but at the cost of their senses. A sentinel might become susceptible to suggestion, when Sunday uses the full extent of his guiding powers.

Of course he would have no reason to suggest anything untoward to you. You're so far down and the radar, and besides, Sunday is such a gentle soul. Wouldn't hurt a fly, really.

Until eventually he starts to implant the suggestion that he's your guide into you, as well.

You think you've disappointed Sunday, maybe even made him angry, with your mistakes. But then you catch him doing something mundane and tedious with his steadfast serenity and you realize that you don't have to be afraid of him. He really does have the patience of a saint.

He hears you enter the room. You see his wings flutter, watch him note your scent, the cadence of your footfalls. He doesn't turn around to face you, just lets you creep into the kitchen at your own pace.

You settle against the counter beside him, watching as he works in the sink. He's washing rice, strong hands stirring and stirring the grains. His sleeves are rolled up, face canted downwards toward the task.

You've always thought of this as a chore to be done as quickly as possible, hardly worthy of thought. But no task has ever been too small for Sunday. Anything that needs doing is worthy of his time, his attention. At least that hadn't changed since Penacony.

He dumps the water one final time, and it comes out as clear as springwater.

He finishes the prep work, setting the pot to boil, waiting until everything is situated and steaming before turning to you.

"Would you like to talk to me, darling?"

He keeps a polite distance between you. Room breathe, you think. Room to flee.

Anxiety is still percolating through you, but separating from him now would only make it worse. He frightens and relaxes you in turn.

"Not yet," you tell him.

You take a seat at the small corner table, relaxing a fraction when he sits beside you. So patient and kind, so — Sunday. You feel almost vulnerable when he meets your eye and smiles.

The kitchen is warm with the smell of steaming rice. He'll wait as long as you need.
