I'm really obsessed with bees and wasps, and last year I met a new friend in uni who not only was scared of them to death, but also hated them. Like really hated, she was the "I wish wasps just went extinct" type of person.
And this recently I was talking to her and mentioned her fear of bees and wasps. And she said: "you know, I really hated them my whole life. But then I met you and you talk about bees and wasps so much, they bring you so much joy. And it changed my view of them completely"
Turns out she just couldn't look at these insects in the same hateful way since meeting me. Not only because they bring happiness to someone important to her (me), but also because I showed her how cool, smart and important wasps and bees are.
Sometimes it takes just one happy nerd to change someone's views from hatred to respect.
Did you know that horses are still used for logging? Not just as a way to keep traditional handicrafts alive, but because horses are genuinely better at some jobs than machines?
Horses are much gentler on sensitive ecosystems, they're more flexible in rocky terrain, and they don't topple over on a hillside.
They can enter dense forests and drag out one specific tree without damaging the other trees and without compacting or eroding the soil.
They also run on hay instead of gas or electricity. Horses don't pollute the ecosystem with either oil leaks, gas stench, or noise.
In conclusion, draft horses are awesome c:

"!!" is its own word to me
the draw of arranged marriage AUs to me is really the way the dubcon of it all binds them together. neither of them have a choice in being here, something else is foisting this upon them whether that’s their parents or the political situation around them or expectation or something else, but the point is that they don’t get that one choice. so they have to make a choice somewhere else, that now that they’re here, they’re going to make it work. they’re each other’s only allies, in this cage built around them. they may have been coerced into swearing to stand by each other through anything, but they did swear.
it’s not love at first, or second, or third sight. it’s not love in the wedding bed the first time, whether they grit their teeth through it or decide together to forgo that binding step and try to get around it as long as they can. it’s about sharing a bed with a stranger while you learn their nightmares and how they hog the covers. it’s about sharing a name before you even know each other’s hobbies. the appearances you have to keep up, and the connection you find in both being exhausted by them, laughing together because isn’t it ridiculous how you not only have to be married but you have to act like it’s perfect and lovely for everyone else watching. it’s love that creeps up quiet and slow, between shared secrets that make your wedding bands mean something for the first time, and trying to protect each other from the trap you’re both in. and it’s about having the mortifying thought of “oh my god, i have a crush on my wife.”
Cursorbirds originate from the Unreal, and only occasionally use reality as a corridor
actually, thinking about this for both Campaign 4 reasons and TLOVM reasons but while again, I don't have any hard and fast rules for being good at media analysis, I do think that people who treat fictional characters' opinions as objective evidence regarding the world are always, 100% of the time, bad at it.
taking my tags out of my tags (hashtag mytags) but like, I do not feel as though Vex and Keyleth being mad at the Raven Queen means anything other than that they are justifiably sad and angry that Vax's deal with her as a life for a life means, well, she accepted his offer of his life. This was true in Campaign 1 and is true in TLOVM. Their feelings are valid and true to the characters. They also do not make an objective statement on the Raven Queen. I feel most takes on the Exandrian gods ultimately boil down to "my blorbo didn't like them", not any meaningful analysis of their behavior and the role they play (as stated, their main "crimes" are accepting deals with mortals and holding said mortals to them; not intervening in purely mortal affairs; and not laying down passively and permitting themselves to be killed) and this is a fantastic example of that very simplistic and flawed mentality in play.
In campaign 4, the story does not work if Thjazi had ill-intent. It simply doesn't, given everything we've seen; it undercuts everything up to this point. That doesn't mean he can't fuck up (indeed the closing of the doors to Faerie indicates that he was at least part of a major fuckup) or be deceived but nearly all the character arcs rely on the idea that Thjazi was a well-intentioned guy with major flaws in how he worked towards his goals, and Brennan has pretty much turned to camera and said that, and so it's fascinating to see people mad about criticism of characters who have their doubts turning to this idea that one would only disagree because Thjazi was a character to whom we had emotional connections and not because of a narrative analysis. (Also worth noting that like, this is a factor in the discourse about Bolaire, but as someone who really likes Julien...I'm not seeing Julien fans insisting his takes on Thjazi are correct in an objective sense, merely that Julien obviously hates him).
If you cannot look at your favorite character (or any character) and separate out your personal affection from whether they are correct at the story level - in other words, if you are not able to cut through both the subjectivity of their perspective and your feelings about them to get to the actual narrative, then, well, you will never get to the actual narrative and will never be able to speak to it in a meaningful way. That doesn't mean you can't have favorites, but you need to be able to look at your favorites and understand that their feelings are not the ultimate truth of the world but rather just the ultimate truth of their own experience within a much, much larger world. also you should do this for yourself in real life.

Are you still bitter about it sometimes?

A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
5. If the words are Google's, this solidifies the position of universities who demand that all answers from AI are fully cited. If all the in-line citations now have to be (Google, 2026), that's going to make it obvious when someone's trying to use Google as a source. There's still the difficulty with people who are academically dishonest by trying to pass off the AI writing as their own. 6. 91% accuracy is officially too low to use as a source of references, which means the AI can't be used as a source of references either. This makes it less legitimate for such purposes than Wikipedia of all places (Wikipedia might need date/time proof of when it was accessed for the reference to be valid, but at least it is possible to prove the link existed at a particular date and time). 7. This will help encourage the rollout of courses on how to avoid AI search for students who need academic accuracy, because it's statistically not good enough to use. 8. This strengthens the case intellectual property authors have against Google in the EU, as this is proof that an intellectual property transfer took place.
