Savor the flavorful and delicate world of traditional French macarons. These cookies with almond meringue are ideal for any event.
Ingredients: 1 cup almond flour. 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar. 3 large egg whites. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Food coloring optional. Buttercream or ganache filling.
Instructions: Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together. Set aside. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the sifted almond flour mixture into the egg whites until fully incorporated. Add vanilla extract and food coloring if desired. Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow macarons to rest for 30 minutes to form a skin. Preheat oven to 300F 150C. Bake macarons for 15-18 minutes until they have formed feet and are set. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, carefully peel the macarons off the parchment paper. Match macaron shells of similar size and sandwich them together with your choice of buttercream or ganache filling. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld. Enjoy your delicious homemade macarons!
