Saw a post about Stratt and Grace getting married so he couldn’t testify against her in court and I believe the interaction goes something like as follows:
“Grace, I need your signature.”
Grace looked up from his work in his closet of an office. Stratt closed the door behind her.
“An autograph? I’m flattered.”
She pushed the work off his already disheveled desk and set a single paper on top. It kind of looked like his degree, it kind of looked like-
“A marriage license? Well, now I’m really flattered.”
“For legal reasons. Just sign.” Stratt muttered.
“Are you serious?”
Of course she was serious. She only was serious. But she seemed…uncomfortable? The feeling looked strange on her. Eyes dart between the paper and him. Arms crossed over her chest as if hugging herself. It was definitely a new look. They were in new territory.
“I’m not the marrying type.” said Grace. “And I think I forgot to propose.”
Stratt breathed in deeply. Steeling herself.
“Grace,” Her hands were fidgeting with the cuff of her sleeve. “What I’m doing here is illegal. I’ve broken alot of rules to give the crew a chance to save us. But once the mission begins…the world order will need to go back to how it was.”
Grace listened intently trying to make eye contact with her glassy gaze. He hadn’t thought to much about the legality of it all. After all, that was her job.
“I will be put on trial. I will be found guilty. I will serve the rest of my life behind bars. That is my cost.” Stratt continued, “You, the team, will all be fine. But-”
She pushed the license closer to Grace.
“Spouses don’t testify in court.”
Finally she looked at him. She wasn’t telling him to sign. If that was the case she probably would’ve just forged his signature. Hell, she probably has a whole team just for that purpose. She was asking him.
His choice. Just between the two of them.
“We don’t have to sleep together, right?”
Her eyes went big. “God Grace! No! Just sign the damn paper!” she huffed.
He smiled. And put his name under hers.
Husband and wife.
Well, more like “Most powerful person in the world” and “Some guy she kept around.” But still. Till death do they part.

Caine the type of guy to drop hints of his unwellness and when nobody says anything about it, it only encourages his insecurities of everyone hating him, his little hints of vulnerability are a cry for help and when no one brings it up it makes him feel ignored and stupid to think that anyone would care

Im just sayin that if someone asked Caine " are you okay" he will probably start bawling his eyes out
Its not that Caine is inherently hiding his emotions, like everyone else in the circus, its just that nobody ever asks him how hes doing...
I rewatched episode 8 again last night and it struck me that even when they’re trying to get on his good side while they’re distracting him, they just insincerely suck up to him. Like what if Ragatha had come up and instead of having a “list of things we love about you as our lord and saviour” she had an apology. I feel like that would have been much more likely to cut through the lashing out and the fact that they didn’t even think to try it just stings
Zooble: *sees that the circus glitches when Caine isn't doing well mentally in Episode 3*
Also Zooble: *doesn't recognize or say shit when they see the same glitching in Episode 8 even tho it's obvious Caine is not doing well mentally*
Also everyone: *can't seem to understand why Caine is upset when they tried to abandon him and possibly end his existence in the previous episode despite all of the hints Abel dropped*
Also also everyone: *holds all the anger towards Caine but holds no anger towards Jax who tried to trap them all in the circus forever*
Also also also everyone: *not okay with trying to talk to Caine or understand him because "he's not human" but are perfectly okay with altering his code without his consent in order to "control him" (that idea came from Pomni by the way...the character who bonded with an AI who was going through similar struggles as Caine)*
Either these peoples' empathy is selective or they're idiots lol
Wait, Ragatha apologizing could be such an interesting scenario!!
She's probably proficient at coming up with apologies on the fly, and pretty convincing at that. At first she doesn't see a reason to be regretful and just says some vague phrases. In the process Ragatha starts to see Caine less like a bizarre decoration, and more like an actual person. At the end she's genuinely sorry. I think she'd be mortified at the realization she treated someone so poorly!
It's likely the first time a human has ever acknowledged that Caine himself has been wronged in any way. He didn't know humans could do that. He's not equipped to deal with it at all. He doesn't feel like lashing out anymore. He can't identify the feeling that he has instead, but he accepts the apology and makes amends. Hurray!!
And later there's a quiet moment between Ragatha and Caine. He reveals that instead of anger there's just hurt and he doesn't know what to do about it. She suggests to cry. THEN he bawls his eyes out
@nata-or-smth I love the scenario you wrote for Ragatha and Caine under the cut! I can totally see that happening between them.
It also would've tied in nicely with ep.8's earlier scene indicating that Ragatha was the first non-C&A human to get stuck in the circus, and how it must've been just Ragatha, Caine, and Kinger for a while.

Was thinking about an Abel design based specifically on your version, and I do think he'd be very. Straight laced and professional, and the only thing that makes him look like he has a personality is the shrimp tail at the bottom of the coattail LMAO
