tbh Esme was tragically underutilized in the twilight saga. like a woman who is forever frozen in the early stages of motherhood, turning the grief for her son into a fierce need to mother every person that walks into her home?? that Bella was a character who was in desperate need of a mother and Esme was right there in desperate need to always BE a mother?? and then she was literally never used unless she was mothering Edward or glued to Carlisle’s hip, despite the fact that she should have probably been more important to Bella than Carlisle ever was

Based solely on their gifts, Jasper and Bella make more sense as a couple, and so do Alice and Edward. Bella could easily shield Jasper and give him some relief from his ability, in the same way that Edward experiences a sense of normalcy with Alice. Bella and Jasper should have developed at least some close bond as vampires, what a missed opportunity.

I will die on the hill that Jacob and Bella are incompatible. Jacob wants to leave the supernatural behind and just live a normal human life, and Bella would never be satisfied by a normal human life, especially after she knows about the supernatural. Jacob wants to shun the supernatural, but Bella is drawn to it and loves it. Their positions are very opposed to each other.

so apparently Jasper COULD NOT contain himself when Bella got a papercut in New Moon but...he goes to high school every day...with a bunch of girls..who are on their periods 7 days a month......smeyer did not think things through when she wrote that in

New Moon AU where Bella cuts her finger and Edward is overwhelmed with the urge to feed. He locks eyes with Jasper and hears the surprise in his thoughts as his brother is flooded with unbridled bloodlust. After going to high school for so many decades, all of the Cullen children have built up a base level tolerance for the occasional scraped knee or bloodied nose or menstruation cycle. Even Jasper can handle those small doses with relative ease. But this paper cut, insignificant compared to all the bloody lunch room fights they’ve witnessed over the years, fills Edward with such need. Jasper lunges at Edward before he can act on his temptations and to everyone else it looks like Jasper is the one who has a lapse in control. The family is mildly surprised but not really. This is Jasper we’re talking about. Everyone believes this, and Jasper allows it even centuries later. Edward considers it his greatest shame, and the most precious gift his brother has ever given him.

Stephenie Meyer tried to make Eclipse a love triangle, and it failed as a love triangle for a multitude of reasons, but a big part of that is that Bella couldn’t end up with Jacob. And I don’t just mean because Edward is the love of her life and all that. Bella is a human who knows about vampires, and the Volturi know about that. Sooner or later, they’re going to come and demand for her to be changed. Everyone around Bella acts like she could still choose to be human, and the narrative acts like she has a choice, but she doesn’t. Any choice she seems to have is just an illusion. Her fate was sealed the moment Edward stepped foot in Volterra—it’s be turned or die. Her only option for survival is to be changed, and I don’t think her and Jacob’s relationship would’ve been able to survive that.

I’m adding to this with a small thing from THE BEST FANFIC EVER (A Reversal of Fortune by LittlePhee). Jasper cried at Bellwards wedding. It’s not canon exactly but that fic is canon to me therefore that is now canon. Anyways anybody that hasn’t read that fic: I’m giving you homework, idc if you like jasper/bella or not, it’s SO FUCKING GOOD.
