Bella x Edward text posts
How do we feel about Edward killing Charles Evenson?
Like, not morally necessarily, the guy was an abuser, no sympathy for him. It just always struck me as a strange and interesting choice on SM's part.
Because previously she had described Edward's vigilante era as him taking out people who were actively doing harm. He was preventing other people being killed by killing the would-be killers. He would hear in their minds what they were planning and then he would take them out before they could do it.
But Charles? That's revenge. I mean I guess it's possible he's still out there being cruel and abusive, but that's not why Edward killed him. Edward sought him out. He didn't like, just happen to cross his path and overhear that he was planning to do something bad. It's pretty clear he hunted him down to avenge Esme.
Like I said, interesting!
There's also the timing of it? Edward leaves in 1927. Esme has been with the family since 1921. So that's six years. If Esme wanted revenge, she had plenty of time to do it herself like Rosalie did. The fact that Charles was still alive six years into Esme's vampiric existence suggests, to me, that she didn't care about revenge.
IDK it's just interesting to me. Like SM wanted this shining moment of Edward avenging his beloved mother but the mother herself didn't seem interested in that kind of revenge so who was he really doing this for?
Rosalie mentioned she was careful not to spill any blood because she didn’t want anything from them inside of her. Maybe Esme had the same idea, but she didn’t have Rosalie’s self control and didn’t want to risk it.
Imagine you are still a bloodthirsty newborn and you are a newlywed to your saintly husband who basically has no bloodlust. I would doubt Esme would 1) want to risk losing control over the likes of Charles and 2) would even want to think about him in her new life.
As for why Edward did it… well he broke Bella’s truck to prevent her from going to La Push. He decided to up and leave in New Moon for Bella’s own good. What I’m saying is, this guy is someone who unilaterally decides what should happen when it comes to other people.
I wonder what it was like for Jacob on the rez after he got the Cullens to stay in Forks. So many people in the tribe and in the pack hated the Cullens, and they were probably planning the biggest party to celebrate the Cullens leaving. And then Jacob decides the Cullens can’t leave and reveals a tribe secret to an outsider in order to force them to stay. And then a bunch of vamps arrive at the Cullens’ house to potentially help fight a war against other vampires a few months later, which wouldn’t be happening in Forks if the Cullens had left like they planned to. People may be more understanding because he imprinted, but I imagine that people weren’t happy with him for a while.
New Moon is supposed to be “inspired by” Romeo and Juliet, and I can definitely see the inspiration there, but I think it’s closer to Hamlet, with Bella in the position of Ophelia.
In Hamlet, Ophelia is led to believe Hamlet loves her, only for Hamlet to completely shatter this by saying he doesn’t love her and telling her to “get thee to a nunnery.” Hamlet later says after Ophelia’s death that he actually did love her, and him saying he doesn’t love her was a lie. Ophelia is then left completely alone. Her father is killed, her brother is off in France, and Hamlet is headed for England (and unknowingly to his death). She goes mad and ends up dying in such a way that it’s debatable whether or not she committed suicide.
In New Moon, Bella was led to believe that Edward loves her, only for Edward to shatter this by saying he doesn’t love her, doesn’t want her, and that she isn’t good for him. Later, after they get back from Volterra, Edward explains that all of that was a lie and that he really does love her. Bella is then left completely alone. The Cullens and Edward leave, and Alice has stopped looking into Bella’s future. Bella also can’t really tell anything to anyone because she can’t reveal that the Cullens are vampires. Bella becomes incredibly depressed and hallucinates Edward’s voice, and she ends up going cliff diving because of these hallucinations, which leads Alice to think that Bella committed suicide.
I do see the parallels between New Moon and Romeo and Juliet. There’s the forbidden love, and the end of the book where Edward wants to end his life because he thinks Bella is dead, which is the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet. However, I think it somewhat fails as a parallel of Romeo and Juliet because the star-crossed lovers aren’t together for most of the book, and the main connection is the miscommunication about Bella dying. I think there are more parallels between Hamlet and New Moon if you look at Bella as a parallel of Ophelia. Also, Edward matches Prince Hamlet’s level of angst.

"Why would Bella Swan--?"
Because she loves Edward Cullen. Because she is unbearably obsessed with him. Because she is recklessly devoted to him. Because she is hopelessly haunted by him. Because she is embarrassingly fixated on him. Because she is tenderly besotted to him.
Any other questions?
Bella imprinted on Edward and Edward imprinted on Bella
jasper arguing with his seer girlfriend like he knows not to say some stupid shit but alice saw a glimpse of him saying it when he thought it and now they’re both mad
I love this because Jasper can be just as infuriating back like
Jasper: are you mad at me
Alice: no
Jasper: oh it’s just because before it felt like you were angry at me
Alice: I’m not
Jasper: okay because you can tell me if you are
Alice: but I’m not
Jasper: I promise I won’t be upset
Alice: I’m fine
Jasper: I just think-
Alice: okay NOW I’m mad
Jasper: see I knew it. If you had just said so in the beginning we could have avoided this
Jacob and Bella would be divorced by their thirties and you shan’t convince me otherwise.
Twilight AU. Bella chooses Jacob. They get married, she gets pregnant, but soon Bella is as tired of small town Forks / La Push as her mom was. She wants to feel the sun, see a beach where you don’t need a parka. Jacob chooses to stay to care for his ailing father and gives Bella the divorce and full custody of their daughter, Juliet Black. Fast forward seventeen years and Juliet decides to move to Washington to spend more time with her dad and also give her mom space now that she’s found a new man. The first day of class she is partnered with the strange but beautiful Edward Cullen, who seems eerily interested in her.
What I love about Bella is that she really is just a teenage girl. She falls in love hard and fast like basically all teenagers do. She’s almost constantly thinking about how hot her boyfriend is. She has very low self-esteem like so many teenage girls do. She feels awkward and like she doesn’t fit in, and basically every teenage girl goes through a phase where they feel like that. I see people say a lot that Bella “isn’t like other girls,” but I disagree. Bella is exactly like other girls, and that’s why so many people connected with her. The appeal of Twilight is that Bella is normal, that she is like everyone else, but she enters into this world and has experiences that are very far from normal.
So often, it’s almost like women in media aren’t allowed to be horny, but Bella is. She’s always thinking about how hot her Edward is. The one thing she wanted before being turned was to have sex with Edward. She cries because Edward won’t have sex with her again on her honeymoon. She wakes up as a vampire ready to jump his bones and then spends all night banging him. And I love this about her.

i still can’t believe the twilight movies have people genuinely thinking charlie swan deserves the dad of the year award. book charlie couldn’t handle his only child’s tears to the point that he would avoid her any time she had any emotion at all, including during her catatonic depression, he would disable her truck on the pure suspicion she may be sneaking out (because she went to bed too early in the evening… to spend the night with edward in her room), he left to go on long fishing trips randomly, allowed her to move in with him and immediately do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry for him without helping out at all, when he grounded her at the end of new moon he basically treated her as his live in maid once again, he sided when jacob when he basically sexually assaulted her in eclipse, and most of all, he never fought renee for custody of bella because “renee needed bella to take care of her”. bella was 18 months old when renee took her and left btw.
if billy black told me to stay away from my creepy boyfriend i would listen to him. rip to bella but im different
Breaking Dawn Sequel AU where Billy begs Nessie to leave Jacob and use the imprint bond to set him free. This time, he has more success
there there girl. now take a sip of the diet coke. there you go. easy now
i've said it before but it will forever and always make me insane that jacob's ending is to join the cullens for the sake of bella not having to give anything up. they find out jake will be immortal & tied to renesmee forever, so bella gets to smile & say "my family is finally complete! ^-^" but jake already HAS a family. he has a father and 2 sisters. quil, embry, seth and sam are like his brothers. jacob and leah were planning to run away together. he's always been welcome in emily's home, sue has been a family friend since before his birth. bella abandons her mortality by choice because she feels no connection to the people around her, but jacob has really strong bonds. it's clear that every character we meet in la push is like family to him, he's an active member of the community. jake would've graduated high school and been a mechanic, would've grown into a young man. a good friend, a fun uncle, a present son. he's set up to have such a rich life. and he's just magically compelled to give that up. beyond his control, he loses sight of everything, because his high school crush's baby is now the singular most important thing to him. he's perpetually 18 with his perpetually 18 year old girlfriend, running around vancouver or alaska or wherever with the girl who friendzoned him at 16 & her in-laws (who were antagonistic to him for months). and i'm just supposed to say omg yay now he doesn't have to let go of bella! everyone is happy! it's complete madness
On the topic of Isle Esme
Assuming that Carlisle did buy Esme an island (I assume specifically for her to design and build a dream house or whatever), I wonder what insanely over the top thing Emmett, Jasper, and Edward bought for their wives. Is it a way to get rid of large sums of money quickly? Bury the fortune in a real estate portfolio?
Does Rosalie have some incredible Manhattan townhouse? Does Bella end up owning a historical theatre converted into a library?
I assume Alice and Jasper own an old Victorian that looks borderline haunted on a huge swath of land as a place to retreat to when Jasper splits or they need the space to be vampires. Probably dangerously close to the Mason-Dixon line but it's a sentimental choice.

Basically my two biggest unpopular but harmless fandom opinions are:
"Olympic Coven" makes no sense. They're the Cullen Coven.
Jasper doesn't feel other vampires' thirsts. Thirst isn't an emotion.
1. Olympic Coven is something Emmett came up with after watching the 1997 Hercules movie and he hasn’t given it a rest since
2. Feeling second hand thirst is something Jasper tells Carlisle and co. They pretend to believe him. Except for Edward, hence his thinly veiled disgust for Jasper in Midnight Sun
