this To.M was sold as a Mano, he's been dyed and has an undisclosed chunk out of his nose tip

might just save this post as a draft and update it after cleaning. see if I can restore him at all.

non acetone nail polish remover strips the dye immediately.

it is the exact same brand I've used half a dozen times with zero issues, but this time there is white hazing (similar to my tan Half Elf after I had to use acetone to take off a faceup, but way worse on poor To.M)

and then I boiled him just to see if it might help the gouge on his nose. but no luck at all. it appears to be an actual slice into his nose and not just a dent that would pop out. :((((

did some gentle sanding on the gouge. such a terrible prominent place to have to sand tan resin :((( I'm fairly upset over it but still optimistic for the restoration

I got Novus plastic polish to try next 🤞

to be clear, only his nose tip is sanded -- all the other white areas happened when I stripped the dye.

I had such huge hopes for the Novus 1 & 2 but it has not cleared up the white hazing sufficiently for me. It did really help the sanded area! But not the hazing from stripping.

I'm really not sure what to try next. Mineral oil I suppose? I have to stop here for now because of busy rl. But I am grumpy about it.

We went to a local Daiso last week and I found out that they have miniatures!

I wanted to get all the things that were available but limited myself to these three. They're 1:12 scale so great for doll houses and dioramas. A teensy bit big for my Señorita Je-Je (Rement Skeleton) but it's fine. It's been forever since I've moved Señorita, much less taken photos of her. So here are a few.

I had seen a few people talk about the little Daiso doll bodies and I was curious if ours had any in stock. They did! At $2.75 I couldn't pass it up. Spouse was confused because according to him, "you don't like or collect kid dolls!"

It has good weight to it. Mostly from the limbs since they're solid vinyl. The torso is pretty thin and hard plastic. I had an idea in mind for a potential future project that involved dyeing, but I'm not sure the torso would survive the heat. Check those detachable limbs though!

I didn't see any of the heads, but if there were any I probably missed them. Should go back and check.

The only issue with it is that I cannot really find good shoes for it.

I saw this body on ig and it had a backstory, but as soon as I saw it, I had to message the owner to buy it! I was originally going to do another kintsugi/visibly broken doll, but I’ve been challenging myself to do different things this year, like I used to when I was fresher to the hobby!

Step 1 was gluing everything together with loctite and reinforcing the insides with apoxie sculpt. Step 2 was finding a head and purpose for this. Luckily I have plenty of floating heads!

This one had more intact pieces, and it could almost pass as normal once everything was put together. All fingers and toes fit, all joints and the only thing it was missing was one half of an elbow peanut. The one piece I couldn’t reinforce lest it look weird were the fingers. I will look for some gold rings to cover them!

Decided to use the resin from crystal creations, and the sparkles from rainbow shimmers to fill her legs

For reference: Heather Grayson (Rainbow/Shadow High) factory head on a Simba toys Twilight Teens body. She hasn't popped up second hand so when a $4 head came up randomly on aliexpress, I figured I have eyes and a relatively close body so why not play around?

14mm eyes. Shame they don't work because the near grey colour looks so good.

I've put her extra hair pieces on hair clips and removed her under eye makeup so she looks closer to her budget design. She's edging closer to being a character.

silly note: There's a slight difference in hair volumes for either side because the white is nylon ("siberia" nylon my beloved) and the black (and 2 shades of grey streaks) is kiwi nylon.
