You're not sure where the urge to reply right now came from, but you're not going to question it. 'I'll write to her now,' you say.

The transition from dot points to a final letter doesn't take more than about fifteen minutes when you're really concentrating on it. You go over the letter to make sure you're replying to everything, say Deema really appreciated all the diagrams, and add,

Thanks for the offer, I'd love to make a trip to see the winds myself! Is there anything I should bring along? Will it work out if I go right after the witch meet (and will I see you there, too)?

You sign the letter and dust your hands off. 'Crazy, the things you can do once you concentrate,' you tell Deema as you seal it.

'Who would've known,' she mutters.

'I'll post it now. Need anything from town?'

'No.'

On your way back to the cottage you see Lex walking ahead of you. You keep your distance, because they could just be chilling, but when it becomes apparent the cottage is the only place they could be heading, you jog until you draw up to them.

'Hey.'

They whip their head around in surprise then say, 'Good, I was going to look for you. Want in on a job?'

'What is it?'

'Had some rough waves last night. Gotta make sure the cliff caves are all nice for the migratory birds when they come.'

It's the exact type of job Deema would tell you that you don't need to do, but you don't personally dislike Lex like she personally dislikes Mira, and Lex has been going through it, so you say, 'Okay.'

'Need to grab anything?'

'Nah. Let's go.'
