People who think they can be "transracial". The primary target of these are Asians, but I've seen people trying to transition into African Americans and Hispanic.
this is racism.
Adding onto this, because it's extremely important to me—
The word "Transracial" was originally for Transracial Adoptees. These were, and still are, people adopted by parents whose race differs from their own. This can be any race, but more often than not, it's white people adopting global majority kids and then proceeding to utterly strip them of any connections to their culture, food, language, and community.
However, this is rarely recognised. When we say "Transracial," most people don't think of us. They think of white people Asian fishing, or wearing blackface, insisting to a rightfully outraged audience that the "real them" is trapped inside a white body, and they have to wear the global majority's skins to compensate. These people are not Transracial. They're RCTA. And they have appropriated this term to describe their own perception of their own identity. This word is not theirs! It was never for them!
Please, please, do not let the RCTA (Race Change To Another) community take this word from us. Transracial has always meant, and will always mean, Transracial Adoptees. The less we talk about this, and the more we refer to RCTA using the word Transracial, the more that word becomes associated with them and not us. It has already become so difficult to find community and meet people with shared experiences due to the appropriation of this word.
Call them what they are, and bring us up when our words are used!
