i love pearl steven universe
Less "if they really loved you, they wouldn't ever hurt you." More "hurt feelings and conflicts are an unavoidable part of life, but the people worthy of being in yours will apologize and work on their behavior once they realize they are hurting you. You can't expect perfection from anyone, but you can and should expect effort."

J.K. Rowling posting Upskirt shots of trans women makes clear what we've always known.
Rowling believes that she has a right to commit sexual violence against women she believes don't deserve rights or safety.
Her response to receiving criticism on posting said upskirt was to essentially argue that the trans woman had it coming and as was basically asking for it because of what she was wearing.
There is no daylight between Rowling and the average shitheel rapist.
my last painting post got labeled mature¿
from the perspective of somepony whose experience with therapy was mostly needing to be convinced "hey you did actually have bad things happen to you", it really seems like a lot of DBT/CBT/ect. tools that require thought monitoring are just... giving yourself OCD and then pointing it at your other issues like a weapon? it... seems like it would make for more suffering, not less. a bit like the misguided idea of introducing an invasive predator to combat an existing invasive species.
Yeah "thinking/feeling this is bad and wrong" as a solution to mental distress is far more likely to become a new compulsive pattern than actually resolve anything cause you're not actually confronting the causes of said distress, just policing and repressing your reactions to it
I also think Sephiroth, had he left, probably would have run into Genesis again. This would have inevitably resulted in either Sephiroth accidentally killing Genesis after Genesis escalates (again)...
...or them getting hitched in Gaia-Vegas and spending the rest of their lives lazing around in their cottage complaining about telemarketers.
I would be okay with Sephiroth gravely wounding Genesis and having to nurse him back to health and eventually go to the Golden Saucer, get hitched in the spooky hotel, then kiss on the ferris wheel.
Yesssss 😍

If Sephiroth had left Shinra, part of me wouldn't really want him joining up with Avalanche tbh. I think he would certainly sympathize with Avalanche and probably would be propositioned as a candidate to join. But I honestly think that Sephiroth probably would just want to live the rest of his life in peace not being a pawn in someone else's game. He's tired.
Sephiroth needs to fuck off into the wilderness and become a local cryptid. Maybe he protects a local village from danger but he doesn't interact with anyone except the local brave kids who dare each other to enter the forest to find the silver beast.
Sephiroth would likely live an extended life too due to his Jenova cells. So he'd become an urban legend for several hundred years lmao like the Jersey Devil
in my heart if Sephiroth gets away from Shinra he doesn't join avalanche and doesn't touch a sword ever again.
Sephiroth is a humble farmer who goes on morning runs with his horses and cows. He makes money from selling pillows stuffed with his lovely floofy chicken's feathers.
tbh he probably isn't even a farmer he just found a family of wild horses and they liked him and followed him and the same happened with the cows.
Sephiroth is the type who just wants some peace and quiet. He'd spend a lot of time just resting and enjoying nature. He'd connect a lot with animals, but if the world were to be kind and embrace him, he might give it another shot in integrating with society. But it would definitely take years to undo a lot of the trauma that's been done to him.
Where's that post that's like "people on tumblr see anorexia as a stupid thing girls do for fun instead of a deadly disease" ?
Like I wonder if maybe these women have something else in common besides being rich? Maybe something like being in the public eye 24/7 and having 1000000000000 people a day comment on their bodies in public forums where everyone including them can see and hear it??
Sorry I'm not done. We are really at the "women developing anorexia is actually Another Way To Oppress You" level of backlash to feminism and "every single thing on earth is about Marxism" type discourse on the internet now? Really? Women are developing anorexia, a deadly disease that fucks up your organs forever and slashes decades off your life, to Show Off How Capitalist They Are and oppress you? And this is a take coming from "innerchildabortionclinic." Something something the reason abortion is the only serious feminist issue the left still likes to talk about has everything to do with being perceived as "edgy" and absolutely NOTHING to do with women's rights or bodily autonomy or seeing women as human beings, as is I think made VERY evident by this "hot take" by "innerchildabortionclinic" that women develop anorexia on purpose to show off how rich they are and oppress you. God all fucking mighty crawl back into Hot Topic and leave sick women the hell alone!!!

I feel like "media literacy" has become less of a useful concept and more of a social pressure.
I used to post headcanons, jokes, and meta because they were fun. I liked throwing ideas out there, seeing what other people thought, and occasionally being convinced by someone else's interpretation.
Now I find myself wondering whether I'm about to reveal that I "didn't understand the story." It feels like every interpretation has to be defensible, every joke has to survive cross-examination, and every headcanon has to come with evidence.
Part of that comes from my own experience. I've noticed a pattern over the years where I'll post a piece of meta, a headcanon, or even just a silly joke about a narrative, and shortly afterward someone will quietly unfollow or soft-block me. I have no way of knowing whether the two things are actually related, but after it happens enough times, it's hard not to become self-conscious. Instead of thinking, "This would be fun to share," I start thinking, "What if this is the post that convinces people I don't have good media literacy?"
I know there are a hundred reasons someone might unfollow, and maybe it's often completely unrelated. But the uncertainty still changes how posting feels.
I miss when fandom felt like a bunch of people comparing notes because they were fascinated by the same story. These days, I sometimes feel like I'm taking an exam I didn't know I signed up for, and honestly, that's made fandom feel a lot less inviting.
