WRONG! Your pride month is over! Me and all the other disabled queers are having pride month two: disability edition
Reblogging this again bc people in the notes are asking a lot of "Am I included? Am I disabled if I have x?" and I just wanted to add the flag here to show people who the pride month is for.
This is the new flag, the old one was more vivid and in a z shape, but it's been made more neutral to be inclusive of people with seizures or sensory issues.
Each stripe represents a different aspect of disability:
Red: Physical disabilities
Yellow: Cognitive & intellectual disabilities
White: (And this is the key one I think) Invisible AND undiagnosed disabilities
Blue: Mental illnesses
Green: Sensory disabilities
If you're autistic or have ADHD? this is your pride month. If you have a mental illness, it's your pride month. If you're hard of hearing, this is your pride month. If you have an autoimmune disorder, this is your pride month. If you are not diagnosed with anything but you know something is up with you: THIS IS STILL YOUR PRIDE MONTH.

....which I forgot about completely before blithely going out in it yesterday to walk to a doctor's appointment and then had to like, sit down with my head between my knees when I got there. I was fully hydrated, had a water bottle with me, wore a hat, walked in the shade, and still by four blocks I was feeling Unwell. It's been ungodly hot out, admittedly, but I have felt more sensitive to it this summer than previous summers and now PERHAPS I KNOW WHY. (My dose was raised over the winter.)
Remember kids: check your meds to see if they make you sensitive to heat, cold, or sun -- and heat and sun are different sensitivities, though of course they can be relational when, say, your Adderall reduces your thirst impulses and you go out in the sun already dehydrated. Know the symptoms of heatstroke -- flushed skin, rapid breathing or heart rate, lack of sweating, disorientation, nausea. Get somewhere cool, get help, and get wet!
You should definitely check your meds if you take anything for blood pressure problems!
My blood pressure meds (chlorthalidone) make me super sensitive to the sun- to the point where I've gotten bad sunburns sitting in the shade (while also regularly applying SPF 75 every 30 minutes).
If you take a thiazide diuretic medication like chlorthalidone (brand names are Hygroton, HemiClor, Thalitone), definitely be careful out there! Make sure to have appropriate sun cover like glasses, hats or a sun umbrella when you are out enjoying the summer weather, and apply a water- or sweat-proof sunscreen to all the areas that will have direct exposure to the sun.
