rummaging for an earl grey teabag like its a cigarette
Oppressed groups, such as women, racialized groups, trans people, disabled people, etc. saying they hate the oppressing group (Men, whites, cis people, abled people) is not equivalent to an oppressor group saying they hate an oppressed group.
Oppressed groups lack the systemic power to oppress their oppressors, which is why they are able to be oppressed lol
Someone can be oppressed along one axis but an oppressor along another axis. For example, trans, Black, and disabled men all experience oppression for those marginalities, while also being part of an oppressor group (men). They cannot experience oppression for being men, as willingly or unwillingly, they remain part of that oppressor group despite further complexities added by their marginality.
As such, an oppressed group saying they hate men, whites, cis people, abled people, etc. is in no way sexism, racism, etc. because these are systemic factors that oppressed groups cannot access within their axis.
And to be clear, when I say “men” above, I do not mean it in the T*RF dogwhistle way of “really trans women”, trans men are men, trans women are women.
Misandry is not real and is not a systemic force. This includes transmisandry, transandrophobia, homoandrophobia, etc. The terms you are looking for is transphobia and homophobia. You are not systemically oppressed for being a man regardless of marginality because misandry isnt real. This is basic feminism.
Racism towards whites does not exist as a systemic force. If you try to say some shit about anywhere in Africa when the entire continent has experienced brutal colonization and imperialism at the hands of whites for centuries, please yeet yourself off this mortal coil.
Bigotry against abled people is not real, and is not a systemic force.
Bigotry against cis people is not real, and is not a systemic force.
If you argue any of the four above points, you are spewing conservative talking points at best no matter how leftist, feminist, antiracist, etc. you think you are.

some people like to get mad at disability benefits because they think its unfair people who dont work get a payout from the government while they have to work 50 hours at the human suffering factory every week. but if you tell them "yeah that sucks i think you should also get a universal allowance and not have to work 50 hours at the human suffering factory every week" thats apparently the wrong answer.
The whole of Patagonia is gonna get sold to Israel and no one will even care because of the "nazis fled to argentina eighty years ago" hollywood psyop
Meanwhile they're still arguing whether the name Patagonia belongs to a brand or a drag queen... Well it sure as her won't belong to the people who live there, much less to the native mapuches, our president and netanyahu will make sure of it.
asked one of my coworkers how she's doing today and she goes "could be better, could be worse," and another coworker nearby who was eavesdropping chimes in with "could be a lil bit o' alligator curse!" i have no idea what he meant by that but i do know that it has been immediately added to the lexicon.

can everyone get woke again. I miss her. I miss woke.
and by woke I mean aware of racism. the original meaning. don't do stupid bullshit here. woke = aware of anti-Black racism . ok
I think there’s a really odd gap in general supply chain knowledge in which people scapegoat AI as this new devastating environmental concern, when internet data centers have been an environmental problem before that. The internet already had the infrastructure to support it in 2017, before GPT-1 was released. Data centers are not a new problem. The internet already had a large physical presence, but people didn’t really think much of it until there were new AI-related developments (and then attribute all data centers to being related to generative AI? Where do people think YouTube videos are stored? The literal clouds in the sky?)
A Makeship plushie has a bigger carbon footprint than a thousand LLM queries but it is seen as an acceptable environmental impact, because it has been deemed socially acceptable to contract low wage factories in the Global South to make toys to sell to customers worldwide at a 3000% markup, with all the profits staying in the Global North. Not many people think of that environmental impact
PSA for transfems, if you are lactating for no apparent reason please check if ANY of your medications have an effect on prolactin levels. lexapro, for instance, can cause lactation on its own.
it drives me up the wall that doctors fail to do basic shit like reviewing your medication and jump right to "we gotta get an MRI". it's probably not a brain tumor.
is. is lactation a symptom of having a brain tumour?
or is this a case of "what some dumbass doctor said it was"
a tumor is just flesh that's growing weirdly, a non-cancerous pituitary tumor that produces prolactin is called a prolactinoma. they're extremely rare, my issue here is that doctors will start talking about scheduling MRIs ($$$, huge hassle to you, effort-free for them) to rule it out without doing basic shit like reviewing medications.
also also if imaging is warranted for new lactating, it would be a mammogram, an ultrasound of the breast or a CT scan (a series of cross sectional X-ray images to make a 3d image) of the chest, to see if theres anything going on in the actual goddamn breast.
trans women are at lower risk to get breast cancer than ciswomen generally, but when we do have it, we're at much much higher risk of it being missed or not treated until too late
a huge principle of medical practice is that it is more likely for a common issue to have a weird symptom or presentation, rather than a rare issue or condition to have its most common symptom show up.
meaning, if you have a weird symptom, its most likely to be a common problem that just has an uncommon symptom, and the common stuff is the stuff docs need to rule out first
Hi!!! Not a transfem here but as someone who has the tumor condition described above that raises prolactin levels, I can absolutely describe the exact things that led to my diagnosis and why most people experiencing nipple discharge probably don't have this issue, and the steps that you and your doctor should take!
First off, the tumor I have is called a microedanoma. Its really small, less than 5mm wide, and it's pushing my on pituitary gland, causing it to produce more prolactin.
The way I found this out was through:
Spontaneously developing nipple discharge. Spontaneous is key here! As the posters above have mentioned, if you've recently changed medications, those should absolutely be investigated as a potential cause first. My doctor specifically asked if I'd started any new medications when I went to them with symptoms.
Physical exam. My doctor physically examined my chest, breast tissue, and glans. When they found no lumps, swelling, or anything else to suggest tumors or infection, cancer immediately became far less of a concern. This is an important step. If a doctor tries to send you for an MRI without doing even a cursory physical exam, push back on that immediately. Even if its not cancer, it could be a tumor in your breast tissue.
Blood test. My doctor sent me in for lab work, and my prolactin levels came back elevated while everything else was normal. Again, if your doctor tries to send you for an MRI before doing any blood work, PUSH BACK ON THAT. Bloodwork could also reveal any other issues or rule out certain causes. Mine was straightforward because only prolactin was raised, but if other hormones were present it could have been a lot of different things.
Breast ultrasound. My doctor was pretty sure I'd need an MRI at this point, based on symptoms and blood work, but as a final step I got a breast ultrasound done to definitively rule out cancer or infection. (As a side note, its also far more common for insurance to cover breast ultrasounds/mammograms than MRIs, so this is also a cost saving measure for the patient). No tumors or infections were found.
MRI. With a probable diagnosis and other avenues definitively cleared out (no medication changes, infections, or tumors elsewhere), I finally went in for an actual MRI. It was at this stage they found the microadenoma.
If you're like me and one of the very rare people who actually have this kind of tumor, dont worry! There's medication to both manage symptoms (nipple discharge) and manage tumor size, and they're less than 20 USD for 3 months supply. You will be okay.
If you're not like me, congrats! You don't have a tumor. That means you're likely having a weird symptom for something really common, and you should go down the list of steps described above to figure out the issue. I have a transfem friend who does not share my tumor condition but did experience nipple discharge, turned out she had an infection that wasn't discernible through physical exam but was identified through bloodwork. Bodies are weird!
Advocate for yourself! Do not pay for MRIs if you don't have to! You probably don't have a brain tumor and there's a clear path to check if you do. Your problem is almost certainly straightforward and inexpensive to solve. You got this.
if female top nudity weren't viewed as inherently sexually explicit. oh brother. I would be letting those puppies hang like you wouldn't believe
the thing is I would be okay with being viewed as sexually attractive while topless. like a shirtless cis man can be a considered a hunk beefcake eye candy etc but it's not by nature r-rated. usamerican society at large is able to understand that toplessness can be sexually appealing but is not in itself a sexual act when a man does it. if I could be just casually topless on a hot day or something without the little flashing light over my head saying think of the CHILDREN I would be getting minoan with it

2014 naive fandom discourse blogger Son or 2014 sad girl pale grunge arctic monkeys daughter
pale grunge daughter BECAUSE if i picked fandom blogger son and one evening after i noticed him sulking at dinner and asked him what was wrong and after some prodding he responded that he got in a fight about alphys and undyne's relationship dynamic with one of his undertale mutuals and they blocked him i would laugh so hard that i would have an aneurysm and die and then my poor baby boy would be motherless. which would of course drive him deeper into fandom tumblr. cut to a year later and he's getting arrested for swatting someone from his danganronpa RP group chat because they were on opposite sides of a round of ace discourse. and i'd be looking down from heaven ducking the other angels asking, 'hey isn't that your son?'
pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction
