"Reuven adopted Shuri. She doesn't look anything like him!"
Y'all, she's like COLLUN. She looks like her mom, but has her daddy's hair texture.
This is especially obvious when she's a little girl and still has short hair. She has her Reuven's cowlicks lol. Anyone with hair like this knows that the longer & heavier your hair gets, the less wild it lays.
Also, while personality isn't genetic Oda emphasizes their likeness as Shuri basically has her daddy's personality. Remember that Reuven is known as the uncouth prince.
It's a really old joke that daughters, especially the eldest & 1st born daughter are basically their father in female form.
This is also why Bonney being a figarland is such a popular theory. Her male form literally looks like Shanks/Shamrock/Garling 😳💀
"Then why was the Kingdom relieved she looks like Candelle! Isn't that because she's Bonney 2.0 & her biological father is a Holy Knight/Celestial??"
NO, IT'S BECAUSE REUVEN IS CHOPPED AND THIS IS WHAT SHURI WOULD LOOK LIKE IF SHE HAD HIS FACE ASDFGHJKL 😭😭😭
That's 100% (I guess 50% technically lol) HIS DNA floating in her veins. Just LOOK at them:

The "Candelle was raped" theories don't make any sense to me. It doesn't fit the narrative at all imo.
First of all, the timeline doesn't match up.
We can clearly see Candelle isn't pregnant when she announces her marriage to Reuven. The premise of this theory hinges on Candelle being pregnant already and Reuven marrying her to preserve her honor or whatever.
She'd either:
1) Have to be pregnant already, but we've seen how Oda draws pregnant women.
This panel of Sora is just as small as the one above with Candelle and you can clearly see her stomach is bigger.
Candelle on the other hand still has an insanely small waist lol. Several months should be long enough to have her showing at least a little.
ALTERNATIVELY
2) Shuri would've already been born and hidden, despite the fact that this theory relies on the Kingdom knowing about the rape & worrying for Candelle while a child Brook is kept ignorant of the circumstances.
If the Kingdom knew Candelle was raped and with child there would be no need to keep Shuri hidden in order to fake a pregnancy with Reuven and save her honor or whatever.
3) Shuri was clearly still a baby when she was presented to the kingdom. Even a child Brook should be able to tell a newborn from a toddler lol
Babies grow quickly.
Secondly, Candelle's circumstances don't fit every other time we've seen a woman forcibly "claimed" by a Holy Knight or Celestial Dragon
If one of these men wanted Candelle they would've kidnapped her. Like they did Ginny, Shakky, and the random women we've seen in the story
Any woman that IS able to escape is almost always on the verge of death or immediately kills themselves afterwards
You're telling me Candelle was able to get back up & live a normal life after that?
When even Boa Hancock underwent a dramatic personality shift in order to cope with the trauma.
Brook wouldn't have noticed her MISSING!? The women he's obsessed with?
How would Candelle even get back? How would she be allowed to escape? No matter how strong a person is, very very few are able to escape from the WG. We had an entire arc just to get back Robin remember?
How could Brook NOT notice any of that type of excitement going on around him?
Finally, Reuven would've had to start war with the WG much, much earlier no?
Unless you're saying Reuven would've just accepted her disappearnce?
OR
Are we saying he'd have done NOTHING after discovering she was assaulted!? 😳
The same guy who almost caused a national incident over some Marines beating up a child Brook?? 🤨
THAT Reuven would've just bit his tongue and allowed the person and group that hurt his future WIFE get away with it with no consequences??
There's still a piece of the puzzle Oda is hiding from us.
I don't think so y'all.
There is definitely something that went on with Candelle during that visit from the WG, but I really do NOT think it was rape. She's not Ginny 2.0!

Can the family name "Manmayer" (マンマイヤー) in One Piece be read as "I hate my mother" in Japanese?
I've seen this mentioned and the answer is, technically, yes! But I don't know if it's as black and white as that and I haven't seen it explained anywhere, so I want to break it down a bit more and let you come to your own conclusion.
⚠️: I am not a native Japanese speaker, I've just been here a long time. I know there are others here in the fandom with better Japanese so feel free to jump in and add to, correct, or elaborate!
So, マンマ, or manma, is a loanword from Italian. It is the phonetic adaptation of the "mamma" using Japanese syllabaries. So, yes, at face value, "manma" can mean "mamma" (as in mamma mia!), but it seems it's not so commonly used in that sense in Japan. Mothers are usually called "mama", not "manma" by small kids, but "manma" does still have it's connections to parent and child.
More commonly, マンマ means food in baby talk. Obviously babies don't have the ability to sound out complex syllables, so for a lot of babies around the world, the first sound they can make to communicate is simply "ma". That can be interpreted as many things depending on the country and culture. In Japan, it's usually interpreted as baby talk for "food" and comes from 飯, read as meshi or manma.
The word also refers to breasts in the medical field and is derived from mammary, but I don't think that's relevant here...although Oda does love boobs and Gunko does have boobs!!!! 🤔
But jokes aside, if you think Oda would use a foreign word that isn't really used in the same way in Japanese in his wordplay, then sure! マンマ = mother. But I don't think anyone is wrong if they think it's a stretch either.
As for the "hate" part, that refers to the last part of the Manmayer name, イヤー, or "iya". The character 嫌 is read this way, more or less (the "ya" is elongated in the name Manmayer and isn't in the character). The dictionary definition from Jisho.org is;
disliking, not wanting, unwilling (to do), reluctant
"iya", and the character in this form, doesn't necessarily equate to "hate" to the extreme that the English does. It's not as outright or harsh, and we can see in the definitions above that the word "hate" does not appear.
When I first read the theory, my mind didn't immediately go to, "I hate my mother", but to something along the lines of, "mama, stop [ex: embarrassing me etc.]!" or "mama, I don't want to [ex: go to school today or eat my vegetables etc.]!". If you use "iya" in reference to your mother, it sounds to me more like, "My mom is so ugh (frustrating, complicated, difficult to deal with, etc.) so I don't want to interact with her." But you don't hate her.
To evoke the image of hate, 嫌い, which uses the same character but has a completely different reading, "kira-i", is much stronger and direct. You actually hate the person in the English sense of the word. Having said that, the claim of 嫌 meaning hate is not wrong because of that. The character as a stand-alone is used to mean hate by Japanese people regularly. There's just an extra tiny step to reach there linguistically.
So, does the theory hold weight? That's up to the individual. The theory has legs but it's not as straight forward as people on online would lead you to believe.
If after reading this, you're still on the theory train, there's a chance you are right. If you think you have to jump through too many hoops to land on, "I hate my mother", then there's a chance you are right. It really is 50:50.
What it really comes down to is, is this something Oda would do?
He is not a stranger to wordplay, but how obvious does he usually make it? I have no idea. I don't know much about Oda and I don't look out for that kind of thing when I read.
We probably won't ever know for sure unless he says it outright in an SBS or something. So, until then, the debate continues.
I hope this makes some kind of sense. It's so difficult it explain these kinds of things in a succinct and understandable way to non-Japanese speakers.
recent sewing wips for animenyc!!! also lowkey face reveal of me baking cookies in pudding cos.... if i get ten billion likes i will edit and post it on youtube.
