hi not to be that guy but i see no one—and i mean NO ONE talking about how Hirose's home life most likely is/was really bad. there's a ton of little hints about it but once i thought about it... i couldn't unsee the signs—
-when he wasn't scared of the cockroach 'oh we used to have these at home all the time!'
-what's his name middle school friend with the picture of Hirose 'oh i've never actually been to his house even knowing him all this time!'.
-the gym clothes he 'borrowed' in middle school were actually just most likely given to him by todoroki because he might not have been able to afford new ones
-never ONCE mentions his parents, his older sister is most likely taking care of him
-constant people pleasing (fake dating his friend)
-being late, being forgetful, might be having to take a lot of responsibility outside of school
and it makes me so sad cuz he's also sooo nice to Nakamura and most likely he's extra silly around him bc that's the only person that hasn't done anything to make him feel judged, or like he has to put up a front
EDIT: OH AND I JUST REMEMBERED WHEN HE TALKS BACK TO THE TEACHERS???? He’s got attitude, then him also idolizing otogiri sensei??? Maybe the only positive male role model in his life
