fuck it I will make this my Disability Pride Month Request: if you are able-bodied, or just unfamiliar, look up the prices of things. Look up what life-sustaining medication costs, look up what good manualš and any power wheelchairs cost, look up what corrective surgery and accessible vehicles and home meal delivery services and service dog training and special dietary restriction food costs. and look up how much money is available for people who can't work.
how many months of government support does it take to afford something like a power wheelchair if you're someone who needs one to get out of bed? how much expense is incurred while saving up for that, making sure you still get food, cleaning, other appointments while you're saving up? is it enough to pay rent? is it enough to still have nice meals, streaming subscriptions, a new video game? is it enough to help family or friends cover emergencies? are there resources available to help with dating, girl's nights, family events if you can't do it all yourself? how in demand are those services, how far in advance do they have to be reserved, how much do they cost?
I've had a few posts about disability get relatively well-shared at this point, and there's always an element of surprise in it - like, what do you mean there's subscriptions, what do you mean it's that expensive, isn't there something else? - and while I understand why, it would really mean a lot if people who don't know about this stuff took the initiative to find out just how bad some of this shit is on their own time
š and not just the folding ones on Amazon, which are still expensive, but which I can say from experience are also really uncomfortable and not suited for full time use
Pixies AAC device was about 10,000$ new one needed every 5 years , Pixies backup communication devices were 2,000$ ++.
Pixies service dog was 20,000$, the necessary equipment ( vest harness dog shoes etc ) was about $500 , Necessary Specialized food is 200$ every 2- 3 months , necessary grooming every 3-4 months is maybe 300$ ( not sure about this but it's a lot ) .
Other medically needed technology to help protect Pixie , 1200$ every few years at least for the tech and about $250 every month for the subscriptions .
Just One of Pixies necessary prescription medicine is 1,000$ every month .
Special foods and stuff ( supplements , multivitamins , etc ) about 300$++ every month .
And that be just some of what it Cost to just keep a Pixie *alive* , not counting anything for keep Pixie happy , sane , healthy âŚ
Special art studio for IDD people , very expensive but very necessary for Pixies sanity and happiness , about $400 per month for 1 full day every week .
Summer camp for severe disabled adults is 800$ for one week . One month of adaptive rock climbing is 450$ . Special Olympics skiing was very expensive , not sure how much but many hundreds of dollars every year, and equipment be thousands of dollars . The necessary weighted blankets so Pixie can sleep are 250$ each .
Being disabled is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE . And . Pixie is limited to a maximum of 2,000$ of Savings money , Pixie not can save up money for these things even if Pixie could afford to save any money . If Pixie try to save money Pixie risk lose all government benefits include health insurance .
Something is missing from the debate over educationally suitable literature

hi!! sorry if you've been asked this question before, but as someone who wants to be a lawyer, how do you deal with defending people that morally you really don't agree with? thanks!
I get a lot of versions of this question, and I answer it seriously every time, because itâs both important and not important at all. Anyone who asks respectfully gets my whole ass answer.
Itâs just not really about that. My job isnât about defending the idea of hurting someone else. Itâs about stopping the state from inflicting further hurt, torture, pain. Itâs about pushing back for some fairness against a monumentally stacked system. And itâs about stuff thatâs normal human stuff that counts as crime for some reason.
Yeah, itâs hard to do a sex abuse case. Sometimes the images stick around and it bothers me. But honestly? Mostly those cases have real plausible theories of innocence or theyâre cases that I will lose because the evidence is there, and the question is not whether the perpetrator will go to jail but how long.
Those cases are so rare, though. I get so much pointless bullshit. Felony of a teen taking momâs car without permission. Two kids that try to break into a car and get so scared by the alarm that they run away. Trespassing on dadâs house because his new girlfriend wants you to stop coming around. Itâs just human stuff, and the violence of the state is not necessary or helpful.
I also reject the idea of punishment completely. The state has a responsibility to stop people from hurting other people again. But inflicting pain doesnât do it, we know this by now. So I argue for mercy and for real solutions to real problems. Iâm here to build a future, not get caught up with doing violence to someone because of the past.
So yeah, sometimes itâs hard, but mostly my conscience is dead clear: Iâm not responsible for the crime. The damage has been done. I want to start the healing process, and I want it for everyone involved. When thatâs not possible, I just want to tell the authorities they donât get to just Do What They Want.
The more I do this job, the more I am a genuine pacifist who is against violence in all forms, and actually I donât see a contradiction between that and what I do for a living. State violence is a pervasive evil that tears apart families, communities, and countries, and itâs far more damaging and awful than any individual crime. The average prosecutor has more blood on their hands than a serial killer, but itâs invisible: people who died in jail, who froze to death on the street, who were shot in a drug deal. Their violence begets violence.
When I get blood on my hands, itâs because I put my hands over the wounds and try to stop the flow. Iâm okay with it.
Also: people donât ask doctors how they can stand to treat bad people. Why ask me?
#i find people have such an inherent misunderstanding of the roles of defense attorneys (understandably but still)#in that most people i talk to seem to be envisioning me personally defending the right of people to commit crimes or that like. Crime Is#Good Actually#âyeah this person did X but they should never face any consequences ever please and thank you judgeâ#(and people think this would WORK??? a different tangent on a lack of legal education and cop shows being awful etc)#meanwhile i am simply protecting peopleâs rights. yes even those peopleâs#idk i could write my own post but op Gets It and also a prosecutor just filed the DUMBEST motion ive ever seen and i need to respond to that#instead lmao (via @anixit26)
The number of people who respond to my post about how even the guiltiest person in the world deserves rights with "but not [crime I think makes you undeserving of rights]!" is truly insane. People really truly think that being accused of a crime makes you irredeemably evil and protecting the rights of those accused means you are also evil.
As a doctor, how do you deal with treating people you morally don't agree with?
As an aged care worker, how do you deal with looking after people you morally don't agree with?
As an emergency responder, how do you deal with saving people you morally don't agree with?
As a garbage man, how do you deal with removing waste from the homes of people you morally don't agree with?
C'mon anon.

Stop that. - in your personal life. Be yourself! be weird! chances are your weird is- STOP.- someone elseâs favorite thing and itâll be your collective normal. Iâm gonna thunder strike you now dude
[Polish. A red writing on the wall saying "no smoking" changed to "beating meat compulsory" with a black sharpie]
as a person under the agender/nonbinary umbrella I actually think the recently increased focus on a nonbinary personâs agab is insanely fucking uncomfortable and blatantly exorsexist. Stop trying to sort NB people into boxes of amab vs afab, transfem vs transmasc, tma vs tme, etc etc. It is not praxis or activism to keep attempting to binarize people whose entire identities are built around the fact that they DO NOT ADHERE to a binary. You are just being a fucking tar pit #sorry
tma and tme are to describe one's relationship to transmisogyny. it's similar to describing a relationship to anti-blackness by "creating a binary" of black and non-black (which includes white people, latino people, asian people, etc). tme includes anyone who is not transfeminized (such as cis men, cis women, trans men, etc). just because there are two categories of something doesn't mean you're getting forced into a gender binary. ignoring your relationship to transmisogyny by refusing to understand what tme/tma means is exactly the same as ignoring your relationship to anti-blackness by saying "i dont see color", because sure, you can ignore that there's a structural & systemic issue regarding a specific demographic, but it doesn't mean its not there!
nigga did your white ass really just come onto a black personâs post to try and lecture them about not knowing their own relationship to antiblackness
number one check yourself. Number two comparing TMA/TME to anti-Blackness is a false dichotomy and I need white queer people to stop trying to compare themselves to Black people every single chance they get. oh my god
The two are NOT similar. If you really wanna play the game of equating race and gender, then the equivalent to âBlack and nonblackâ would be transfem/trans woman and non-transfem/trans woman, not TMA/TME. I can assure you that NO black person is going around saying âantiblack racism affected vs antiblack racism exempt.â Because That Is Stupid.
EVERYONE is affected by antiblackness, because of how deeply itâs ingrained into our entire societal structure. You cannot write off specific demographics as not being affected by certain forms of oppression or discrimination, because the nature of living in a white supremacist-capitalist-patriarchy is that ALL of these systems are INTRINSICALLY connected with each other, and affect EVERYONE to some degree. There are countless historical examples of antiblack legislation directly impacting poor communities of other racial groups- including white people. There are primary targets of discrimination, obviously, but nobody is truly âexemptâ from any sort of oppressive system unless they are at the VERY top of the damn food chain.
In the same vein, the intersection of transphobia and misogyny is ALSO deeply ingrained into our society. And because of that, nobody is truly âtransmisogyny-exempt.â Even people who arenât the primary targets are still directly impacted and negatively affected by transmisogynistic systems. I find TMA/TME to be useless in terms of categorization because it directly posits that everyone who gets sorted into the latter group just doesnât experience any oppression or discrimination derived from transmisogynistic bases at all, which is ridiculous, because that happens All the time.
A trans man or enby whoâs mistaken for a trans woman and is assaulted for it, a cis man whoâs belittled and attacked on the basis of being Too Feminine, a cis woman whoâs publicly shamed, derided, and transvestigated for having testosterone levels that are âtoo high,â are all examples of non-transfem/trans woman groups being negatively affected on the basis of transmisogyny.
Poor white people being affected by legislation meant to target and attack Black populations and the massive trend of colorism throughout Asian communities are examples of nonblack groups being negatively affected on the basis of antiblackness.
You cannot sort people by what oppression they do and do not face, and attempts to do so are inherently exclusionary and are bound to lead back into denying people of their lived experiences, just because they donât line up perfectly into these specific categories of âthis genre of person goes through thisâ vs âthis genre of person doesnât go through that.â
I believe that TMA/TME was coined with the best intentions, but the problem is that itâs a clumsy dichotomy and the way a lot of people tend to use it ends up leading back into the same issues of being binary (âamab trans people experience this, afab trans people donât experience thatâ) and then THAT leads back into a whole heaping mess in and of itself
Talking about the way transfeminized people are targeted by transmisogyny is not a bad thing in and of itself! But like, you can just say transfem/non-transfem- or even just âtransfeminizedâ to describe the position oppressors will often place people into in order to enact transmisogynistic violence against them- instead of directly trying to state what different groups of people Do And Donât Experience. you can say âprimary targets of transmisogynyâ without directly implying that certain groups are exempt from it all together.
THAT is my issue at hand when it comes to TMA/TME. It is an awkward framework to describe oppression, because oppression doesnât work like that in reality
Tumblr Sexyman Contest 2026 Final Round
Senshi (Dungeon Meshi)
Ryland Grace (Project Hail Mary)
Mr. Ant Tenna (Deltarune)
Tenna art by @9Aaaalt29 on twt
âAnd if youâll give me 40% of the MOST POPULAR VOTE, Iâll give you my SPECIAL REWARD... A yearâs supply of NON-GLOOBY SLIME!!! Never or BARELY used!!!â Tenna concluded his speech with a huge smile, jetting his hands up in double peace signs.
The crowd roared in confused enthusiasm as Tenna gave a gracious flurry of low-FPS bows, pausing only for the occasional stink-nose at his audience plants who werenât throwing enough 3D roses.
Eventually, the room fell silent. It was Senshiâs turn to speak.
He puffed out his chest, took a long, sweeping look over the audience⌠and shook his head.
âI can see not all of you are eating properly.â
The crowd murmured with embarrassment.
âI donât know who needs to hear this, but itâs time to take the turkey out of your icebox. I have seen the ingenious technology with which your people store food... and I have also seen the waste which results from such convenience.
âThe food you take had a life. Beasts grew fat on the grass of the field, plants grew from the sunâs rays, and mushrooms grew from minerals in the cracks of caves. And yet, it sits in your iceboxes, collecting moisture until it perishes.
âEat what is given to you. Because its life will make you stronger, too.â
Without another word, Senshi left his podium and stepped away from the stage. The crowd murmured in confusion. âIs he really like that?â somebody said. âI only remember reblogging the photosets of him tripping and showing ass.â
--
Back in the Green Room, Tenna wrung his antennas nervously.
âY-y-you think they liked me!? They HAD to!! I mean, I donât know what Asgore was thinking, getting that weird haircut and running that food waste campaign, but⌠YOU thought I did good, didnât you, Kris?â
Laios nodded aggressively, a streak of blue face paint peeling from his forehead.
âYou did AMAZING, Tenna! By the way, now that weâve seen all your insider campaign secrets, do you have any more videos of Susie? Especially her tail... If I could get a look at that, I could finally tell if sheâs a dinosaur or --â
THWACK. Fake antlers butted Laiosâs head.
âLAIOS?? Werenât we dressed up to help SENSHI???â Marcille hissed, gesturing awkwardly with her hooves.
Suddenly, Tenna turned to the two adventurers.
âHey, WAIT a second. SOMETHINGâs not right here...â
Laios and Marcille held their breath.
âWhere the heck are my POINTS!?â
Just then, the door opened. Chilchuck took one step into the room, whistling and holding a large bag.
Everyone turned to him.
Chilchuck paused, took a step backwards, and closed the door.
âCHILCHUCK!!!â yelled Tenna.
âHow come Chilchuck got to stay Chilchuck!?â yelled Marcille at the same time.

one of my favourite human songs-and-dances is when someone notices someone else is lying and, for no particular reason besides love of the game, helps them get away with the lie without ever explicitly acknowledging they noticed. nightmare social animals.
The human body's response to HRT is actually admirable in the sheer indifference. Just pure I Don't Give A Shit, I Just Fucking Work Here compliance to the new instructions. You can get testosterone injected straight into your body and it doesn't even question where that shit came from, coming back from a coffee break and just going
"Okay, everything seems to be in ord- oh fuck now what? Oh huh. Alright fine. New orders came in, cancel the menstrual cycle. Dig up the genetic balding patterns from somewhere, I don't fucking know they're buried somewhere in the dna. I'm greenlighting the growing-hair-on-your-toes thing. Yeah just cancel the ongoing maintenance processes, new orders came in so this is apparently what we're doing now."
genuinely i think a big problem with science education is we spend too much time in high school telling students DNA is like, the Magical Essence of an Organism.
dna is mostly just instructions for building proteins, and not very persuasive ones at that. it sits in the nucleus of the cell, and what happens after RNA transcription isn't any of its business. this is a good thing! it means we can override it sometimes when we need to (and when we know how). but a lot of rhetoric around DNA (and therefore gender and sex and morphological freedom in general) treats it like this Platonic sorcery that must be obeyed, lest we incur the wrath of the gods. and it's nothing so special!
