"Immature people crave and demand moral certainty: This is bad, this is good. Kids and adolescents struggle to find a sure moral foothold in this bewildering world; they long to feel they’re on the winning side, or at least a member of the team. To them, heroic fantasy may offer a vision of moral clarity. Unfortunately, the pretended Battle Between (unquestioned) Good and (unexamined) Evil obscures instead of clarifying, serving as a mere excuse for violence — as brainless, useless, and base as aggressive war in the real world."
Ursula K Le Guin at it again, being right as always
You know the meme "me and my wife saw you across the bar, liked your vibes and wanted to say hi?"
This pic is giving the exact opposite.
It's giving "Me and my wife saw you across the bar and hate your vibes and want to take turns kicking your ass"
And I love them for it lmao

Ok but like, Jules and Nellie are soulmates
Rachel and Nellie bonded pretty quickly and Nellie immediately helped her with the curse and believed her and also they made out
Rachel and Jules share like the biggest trauma of their life?? Jules was literally there the moment she was born?? and also immedialtely believed her and tried to help with the curse
So what if... what if all three of them are soulmates 👉🏻👈🏻?? What if they just raise Jude as a funny cursed little polycule 👉🏻👈🏻🥺🥺
And also Jules ends up with both his brother's exes wouldn't that be funny
So you’d get on plane if the pilot was like, "Welcome aboard, ladies and gentlemen. There is a 92% chance we make it to our destination." I would trust my gut, and Nicky would too, and I know that. For a fact. Just, you know, maybe get… get that number up to 100… before you walk down the aisle. SOMETHING VERY BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN 1.05 | I Think You Just Saved My Life

Endlessly diabolical how you can't say words like rape and suicide uncensored without either being criticised by idiots or punished by conglomerates.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.
Use the real words. Words have power, and they matter.
So I was thinking about this moment and the decision they made in filming this scene. This is the key moment for Richie to express the immense guilt he feels over "failing" Michael, and, by extension, whole family, and Carmy especially. This is one of the many things these two have been carrying throughout the show that has kept creating a barrier between them, and all that resentment is building up. And they could have kept this scene paning between Carmy and Richie.
But they decide to pan the camera to Sydney every time they have to cut to the shot of Carmy and Richie. They do it 2 times over. Carmen -> Sydney -> Richie, then they bring it back in the reverse order. And I love this detail because is expressing many things:
Sydney is part of the family, and she should be here for this. This is her pain, too. Because she loves them.
If there wasn't for Sydney, this conversation wouldn't be happening in the first place. "Any chance of any kind of good," right? Carmen starts to open up by looking at Sydney, and when Carmy says Sydney is "her," Richie tells Carmy to continue.
Because it ties to the core character wound of the 3 of them. all of them carry guilt over things they had no control over. You can even see the camera panning to Sydney the moment he says, "I failed," and Sydney's worst fear is to fail the people around her.
Richie blaming himself for not being able to stop Michael from killing himself is as irrational as Sydney declaring herself the cause of his father's heart attack. It is also irrational for Carmen to believe he deserves abuse, that he failed Donna somehow, and that's why she treated him the way he did. All of them are wrong. And the beauty of goodbye is that they can see that when it applies to somebody they love. Richie would have told Syd it wasn't her fault. Carmy tells Richie it wasn't his fault. Sydney will tell Carmen it wasn't his fault.
These are 3 kids who grew up feeling they had to be 'less trouble' or to make the lives of those around them easy. They felt like a burden. But they aren't right now; they are together, they carry each other's burden.
