Woke up from explosions again
russians just attacked Kyiv with ballistics again
They know we don’t have Patriot missiles to shoot down ballistics, so these days they attack us with as much of that shit as they possibly can
And more explosions
The Patriot system is pretty much the only thing that can effectively destroy ballistics. When we don’t have enough Patriot missiles, russian ballistics can easily reach their targets: civilian houses, schools, hospitals etc.
By the way, ballistics are usually very, very fast and can reach their destination in a few minutes. Quite often, we literally don’t have the time to run to the bomb shelter.
And at this exact moment, we have no Patriot missiles left, so russians are happy to attack us with ballistics all the fucking time.
Do you know who has Patriots and missiles for them? USA. Some other NATO countries as well, but mostly USA, as they are the primary manufacturers of Patriot systems.
Ukrainian officials are constantly asking for more anti-ballistic missiles to protect our sky. They have also asked for licenses required to produce such anti-ballistic missiles in Ukraine.
Unfortunately, so far our foreign partners are “discussing” and “considering” the matter. Meanwhile, our people are dying.
also a really popular post going around where somebody burns usa and israeli flag while waving soviet flag in the back :) no consistent morals whatsoever while thinking you're morally superior
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great

The new package of sanctions against Russia is finally supposed to include a ban on entry for Russians who took part in the genocidal war against Ukraine. But several countries are already pushing back, arguing that it should only be a recommendation rather than a binding measure.
It's the fourth year of the full-scale invasion and the twelfth year of Russia's war against Ukraine as a whole. Thousands of statements saying – "We are deeply concerned". Thousands more saying – "We must stand united".
And yet, when it comes to allowing Russian soldiers into Europe, the deciding factor is the money they bring as tourists. Some countries are literally worried about losing tourism revenue, regardless of where that money comes from.
People were outraged when the Olympic Committee argued that sport should be a "second chance" for people, regardless of what they had done during the war.
But Europe is effectively doing the same thing through tourism.
So in Europe, it's entirely possible for a Ukrainian refugee — a mother with her child, for example — to run into the very person who killed her relatives, committed sexual violence against civilians, took part in torture, or committed other war crimes, simply because he came there for a vacation.
Just fucking imagine that.
Another awful night in Kyiv
Every year I live around more ruins.
More destroyed buildings. More boarded windows. More markets burnt down. More residential blocks like folded house of cards. More infrastructure destroyed.
More dead. More missing people (their remains got vaporised). More. More.
Death exists among us like a tangible entity. It sometimes feels like the Grim Reaper can just sit next to you in the metro.
We live among ghosts, so many of them it sometimes feels like we're turning into them ourselves. We definitely have more in common with the ghosts than with the people living in peaceful countries at this point.
another horrible murderous night in Ukraine, another day of telling people for the millionth time that the all the things she said song is by russian artists, by artists who support the genocide of Ukraine, but ofc that's not enough for people so let me remind you they're also homophobic
idk it's just so bizarre to me how we can be dragging the bodies of our artists and scientists and all the great people from under the rubble every single day and the world watches and tells us that music is out of politics, sport is not politics, literature is not politics etc
i genuinely don't know how these people live with themselves
Shut up ru ballistics and other shit, I’m drawing.
Sorry ahsdghd 😭 I hope you're safe

today you would be fifty years old
i dont think the queer community fully understands how isolating it is to be a queer slav and seeing the fucking hammer and sickle fucking everywhere
not only did our families live through the horror that was the ussr but now we gotta be reminded of that shit constantly in the community that we're supposed to share as queer people
not to mention that the ussr wasnt even communist it was just fascist. why are u communists using the symbols of fascists. it just looks like ur idolizing a fascist state.
i just inherently do not trust anyone using the hammer and sickle nor the ussr flag as symbols of their communist ideologies
As a queer person whose family had to flee China due to the shit that went down during the Great Leap Forward, only to live through 1965 and 1998 in Indonesia, I definitely relate to this. Every time, I swear to god- I see a fellow queer person but they've got hammer and sickle stuff or even a freakin. Mao Zedong bust or some shit like that amongst their belongings my hackles immediately go right up.
Like damn. I believe in the general vision, don't get me wrong. Sharing is great and billionaires bad, down with late stage capitalism, 100%! But most tankies and Lenin/Mao Fans I run into in the wild don't. Get it. The way we do. It's theory to them, it's generational trauma to us.
Not long before its collapse in my country, the communist government performed Operation Hyacinth.
It was an operation performed by our police which involved creating a massive database of queer people, they would track those people down, force them to sign documents, provide fingerprints, make confessions, denounce their partners or colleagues.
All for pretty obvious reasons, to have blackmail material on them. Fortunately communism fell a few years later.
Just saw a russian artist's commission info saying: payment only through Boosty due to the situation in my country.
The "situation" is your country committing genocide against Ukraine.
You can't even be honest on your own Tumblr page. And your clients might end up funding, through the taxes you pay with their money or through your own donations to your country's army (because some westerners quickly forget that a person can actually support their country's actions, especially when they phrase things like this), the continued killing of ukrainians.
For God's sake, at least ask about the political views of a russian artist before commissioning them. If you're from Europe or the US, you're literally paying someone whose country is at war with yours too.
“The situation”.

You know what I'm thinking about, looking at those videos of endless car queues for gas in russia? It reminds me of the military checkpoint queues we had to wait in to get out of the russian-occupied part of Donetsk oblast. (Before the russians eventually closed the border with Ukraine under the guise of covid.)
A trip to my grandma's town (now completely destroyed) that used to take me an hour before 2014, could take anywhere from seven to over ten hours, or even more. And it cost a lot of money for the ride, because they quickly banned public bus transit to make a profit on transportation.
It wasn't a mere inconvenience. Imagine ten hours in the steppe, under the scorching summer sun, in a car that quickly turns into a microwave. Imagine hours in frigid winter temperatures, open to all the winds. Now imagine that Donetsk's elderly, the pensioners, had to make that trip every month to get their Ukrainian pensions, because the banking system couldn't operate under the occupation. Only they had to make the crossing mostly on foot, having no money to spare on rides. Frying under the sun, standing in lines to get their documents checked by the russian terrorists, having strokes, dying in those queues.
I'm not even talking about the crippling anxiety you feel, waiting for them to check your phone, to ask you stupid questions, knowing they can do anything to you and suffer no repercussions, because the law doesn't apply there. Sometimes hearing the artillery duels in the distance, seeing flashes. Disassociating.
All the while, russians lived comfortably in their terrorist state, not caring about the war they're waging in the neighboring country, or the death and suffering they're causing. Because they weren't interested in politics.
Well, maybe now they are.
Seriously stop calling people born to Jews from Poland “Polish” because we aren’t. Same goes for Jews from Germany or Russia or Ukraine or Bulgaria or England or literally anywhere in Europe. We were discriminated against and slaughtered over and over and over again for NOT being Polish et al. Things like the Venetian Ghetto and the Pale of Settlement weren’t established because Jews were viewed as European or “just like everybody else.”
I was once told not to refer to myself as Polish because I am a Jew by someone I had met literally 15 minutes earlier. That was the moment I stopped telling people where my family LIVED, and just started saying I’m Jewish.
I understand most people think it’s uncool to be Jewish these days and want to whitewash us to pretend we are fundamentally European, but we aren’t. We were never viewed as European within Europe, ever. Ashkenazi Jews only are called Polish etc. now because it serves a political purpose. You don't get to rewrite our history just so you can feel better when you talk over us and dismiss our lived experiences.
