humans are a weird, opportunistic, hyper-adaptable and variable primate and we have evolved to have a LOT of variety in size, shape, metabolism, and weight retention. this has been essential to survival in hard times and easy times. you know the thing people talk about sometimes how about half the population are night people and about half are morning people so we'd be better able to watch at night as a group? yeah, weight variation is like that: there's a lot of latent variation in human populations because as a community we survive significantly better if some of us are fuckin ready to not die during the longass winter of death and some of us can eat their weight in fish and then run a mile immediately after. this is also why some people gain muscle crazy fast and some people don't: muscle requires a lot of energy, so some people are built to gain a lot during a plentiful season and be really efficient then and some people are built to use less energy over time and be more useful during a long hungry period. cats and almost all other vertebrates simply don't have this kind of complex community variation built in, and tend to be much more uniform in build and weight. humans tend to be really variable in body and brain, and that's one of the biggest factors that's made us so successful! there are just a LOT of ways to be a human being.

and unhealthy fat people still deserve respect. people who experience health issues because of their weight deserve respect. obese people deserve respect. people who are 400, 500, 600 pounds deserve respect. people who are fat because they eat a lot and not just because it's their body's natural state or they have a medical condition deserve respect. HEALTH DOES NOT EQUAL WORTH.

Tomorrow, there will be people tweeting about my father and #MLKDay who are complicit in, complacent about and/or a part of cultivating some form of injustice.

That’s to be expected, and not just regarding voting legislation.

There will be people who are complicit in bombing children tweeting.

There will be people who are complacent about poverty tweeting.

There will be people who cultivate the Prison Industrial Complex tweeting.

And so on.

Let’s not get caught up in that tomorrow.

Please take some time to study what my father taught about the Triple Evils of Racism, Militarism, and Poverty (Extreme Materialism).

Let’s channel our love-centered energy into defeating injustice, living and speaking truth (and not just to power), and working for justice, about which my father said:

“Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.”

Hi, and welcome to our Drawtectives spring gift exchange! This event is run by fans, for fans, and will be a place to celebrate both season one and season two of Drawtectives!

If you’ve never been in an event like this, here’s the rundown: We’ll be releasing a Google Form used to gather general preferences from everyone who wants to participate. Then, using this information, we will be assigning both someone for you to create a gift for, and someone to create for you! Who’s creating for who will be kept a secret until it’s all revealed during a week-long period we’ll call “gifting week”, where everyone will post what they’ve created and tag their giftees.

This event will be accepting all kinds of creations: fanfics, fanart, cosplay, crafts- you name it! Here’s our official rules, which include some regulations on what you can request content-wise.

This event will be celebrating season 1 AND season 2 of Drawtectives, and everything will be tagged accordingly so people can avoid spoilers as they like. In your preferences on the sign-up sheet you’ll also be able to state what you are and aren’t interested in. Easy as pie!

Our current schedule is: 1. January 15th to February 15th: Sign-ups open! 2. February 15th: Sign-ups close! 3. February 15th to February 28th: Assignments are sorted by mods. 4. March 1st to April 23rd: Assignments are sent out via email with a link to an(optional) Discord server! Creation period starts! 5. April 23rd to April 30th: Gifting week!

When gifting week, we’ll be asking everyone to post their gift here on Tumblr with the tag “#drawtectives spring gift exchange 2023″. There will also be a collection on Ao3 for any fic that ends up crossposted there!

And just so everyone knows: Hi, I’m Sammy! I’m the head mod of this project, along with one or two other people who do most of the busywork.
