Question for my fellow aspies
Is it necessarily wrong to be inspired by someone who is autistic? I would like to hear some of the communityâs opinion.
Not at all! Some of my biggest inspirations are autistic, like the creator of PokĂŠmon

hmm donât know how to address this but i looked it up and apparently Richard Phillips, the 72-year-old black man recently released from prison after serving 45 years for murder he didnât commit, is being forced to sell his art, rather than willingly selling it, since the justice system is refusing to pay him anything. thereâs a post going around saying heâs showcasing his art and we should support him by purchasing it, but i think itâs an important distinction that he doesnât want to part from the art that he made in prison. parting permanently from art youâve made can be difficult, and considering the emotional value of the art he made in order to cope with his situation, itâs cruel to take it away from him rather than to just donate money. also thereâs like this weird fetishization of his âprison artâ in the media that is frankly disgusting, like ogling his pain and suffering and making it into some sort of spectacle. i scoured twitter for a donation page but i couldnât find anything yet
update: i emailed his lawyer and found the official gofundme for him if you guys can spare anything
i want a transcript of the argument that precluded the commission of this cake
Comrade Archie Andrews
white diamond: *mutilates steven, is responsible for pretty much all of his gem friends and parental figuresâ trauma, is a horrifying villain and a representation of oppressive, autocratic, class segregating society*
marty: *is sort of shitty and materialistic dad*
steven: if i had a gun with two bullets i would shoot marty twice
damn if marty had just cried a little bit steven wouldâve made him father of the year
but in all seriousness, this redemption is flawed in concept and in execution. white diamond was a breath of fresh air when she was introduced because she was shown to be a genuinely intimating villain. a lot of people compared white to glados or mother gothel, both well-written antagonists specifically because they were manipulative and lacking compassion in a despicable, but cool way. and this is much deserved. white diamond (and the other diamonds, but white especially) is rooted at the core of the problems with gem society. i was excited to see her fighting against the protagonists.
however, this is exactly why redemption shouldnât have been an option for her. all the homophobia (sapphire/ruby being barred from mixed fusing) class segregation (pearls being objectified slaves) and colonialism (the uh, colonies) allegories are at best meaningless and at worst terrible if the ONE PERSON WHO REPRESENTS ALL THAT is able to cross over to the good side on a âforgive everyone, especially the ones who are familyâ basis.
now, if white diamond was built up as a ruler who struggled to maintain perfection, highlighting her awful actions while illustrating the mental turmoil behind the scenes, then i would at least understand the sympathetic angle. there have been well-written villains whoâve had good/understandable motives or reasons why theyâre the way they are (azula from atla rings a bell), but even then they have to face consequences and work to gain acceptance from others. white did absolutely nothing except show a little humanity when the show needed her to and get a slap on the wrist. this isnât an issue of whiteâs behavior as a character but of her as a product made by real people. you canât pull a villain redemption by giving a genuinely terrible person so many second chances they eventually change their mind. itâs bad writing and, more importantly, a really bad message for kids.
steven universeâs prevailing attitude of âeveryoneâs dealing with their own tragic issues and self-worth so we need to think of THEIR feelingsâ isnât fundamentally a bad message, but you canât apply it to established tyrannical regimes and expect it to work without nuance. youâd think that the show that told people with abusive/bad parents that itâs best to drop them and move on (marty in drop beat dad) wouldnât push the âweâre family so youâre going to be good nowâ narrative.
tdlr: this show tried really hard to have both badass villains and goofy parental figures that it worked to the detriment of both characterizations.

a good app for "scanning" pictures would be CamScanner. we mostly use them in architecture when scanners aren't readily available. you can send the picture via email or any other social media application as well
if weâre talking about straight hair as a beauty standard and you think you have a counterpoint about big hair being popular in the 80s, youâve completely missed the point and donât understand the way beauty standards originate and operate.Â
straight hairâeven teased, even crimpedâis a white supremacist ideal that never ceases to exert a controlling force in the mainstream. a white women who has temporarily made her straight hair bigger is not comparable to a woman of color or a jewish woman who has kinky hairâno matter what the aesthetic of moment, those latter groups are not meeting its standard. they canât; these standards exist as white supremacist tools of domination.
thick eyebrows, tanner skin, certain body shapes, hair volume⌠these things cycle in fashion for white women. they are never a condoning of non-white or othered bodies, and they change nothing for the people who experience the material consequences of white supremacy.Â
a white girl can tease her hair to high heaven and be a fashion icon at her school, while a black girl w the neatest braids is sent home. do you think women w 4c hair were more likely to get jobs in the 80s bc white women were crimping their hair? pls pull your head out of cosmo and learn about the way the world you live in actually works

crossover of the fucking century is crash bandicoot and touhou
despite what youâd think they both operate on just about equal levels of comical absurdity
The cast of Crash Bandicoot is transported to the mystical eastern land of Gensokyo, where they encounter mysterious new friends and foes. Crash becomes Reimuâs indentured servant after causing severe property damage to her shrine. Cortex gets mugged by Cirno. N. Tropy dies of gangrene after being mauled by a tanuki.
Meanwhile, N. Gin accompanies Orin on a long walk between worlds as she transports a fresh new load of corpses to the Hell of Blazing Fires. The two bond over shared interests and the fact that their names rhyme.
