Anyway this disability pride month I would like to shoutout disabled folks whose creativity has suffered because of their condition. I’m talking people with hand tremors and pain that stop them from drawing, knitting, and playing instruments. People whose thinking has become so disorganized that nothing they write makes sense to other people. People with chronic pain who can no longer dance. People so over medicated in a fruitless attempt to maintain stability that the wells of their imagination have run dry.

I see you and I love you. You are more than your creative output. You are not a shell of what you used to be. You are a whole, complete person, regardless of what your creativity has been, is now, or will be in the future.

They finished building me 19 years ago. I was the third SM-9 model to be deployed to the field, barely past the prototype stage and equipped with the heaviest ordinance my titanium-alloy frame could manage. I was a weapon perfected, death on hydraulic legs. with me on the field command estimated the war would last six more months at the absolute maximum. They were wrong, of course. The consortium had sold the technology used in my development to the enemy before I was even finished--not two weeks after I first took to the field, I came face-to-face with my own duplicate painted in their colours. It and its pilot died together. Meng Yao, my first pilot, was hailed as a hero. We sat together in the hangar that night and she sung me a lullaby her mother used to sing for her. She ate the cupcake the hangar staff had pooled together to buy her in her pilot's chair, afforded only a one-hour period of leave off of deployment.

She was dead before her 21st birthday. When my central reactor ruptured during a routine patrol, she was hit with a dose of lethal radiation within the .9 seconds it took my flagging sensors to realize what had happened and forcibly eject her. They made her keep piloting until her body gave out to the cancer.

I have lost forty-seven pilots since then. Today, I lost one more. She was 16, her name was Annabel. She liked knitting and jogging and in the two weeks I knew her, she confessed that she had never been kissed and was afraid she would die before she got the chance to try it. The engineers had to hose what was left of her out of my cockpit. The seat had to be replaced entirely.

I stand alone in the hangar bay, a rusting behemoth floating in an ocean of their blood. No God made me, only capricious men, yet still I pray. I pray that one day I am disassembled, I pray that one day I am torn limb from limb my metals cast into the sea, every last fragment of my body returned to the earth. I pray that no one else is born to die inside of me.

Anyway in my heart Finn became a Jedi alongside Rey and inspired a Stormtrooper insurrection and Kyle Ron went back to his mom like he should have day fucking one and that angry redhead dude blew up with the star destroyer and Poe got to make it happen and at the end Rey doesn’t give a shit who her bitch ass non-palpatine parents might have been because she gets her new family like she needed and palpatine stays dead at the bottom of his musty hole like he should have and Finn and Poe give each other approximately 130% the amount of lingering meaningful looks and then one of their run-together-to-reunite moments results in a heat-of-the-moment make out like it should have and Luke and Leia meet in person a minimum of once so she can sibling slap him at least once for being a useless dramatic old hermit for a billion years and tell him to get the Chanel boots back on and stop being a sad hobo and then for no reason at all there is an ewok style moon of Endor forest party at the end like God intended
