listening to open pike night’s interview with the writers for the season premiere and they talked a bit about the ortegas x scotty rivalry and how the reason they decided on this storyline with these two characters is that 1) melissa and martin are really gifted at comedy and 2) there’s been so much romance on the show that the creative team felt like they should spotlight other kinds of dynamics. so everyone worried these two are going to be forced into a relationship can take a deep breath now. it’s about time we had a strong friendship develop between the pilot and the engineer and it’s nice the show is actually spending time on it with the same dedication it has shown towards the romantic drama.

that being said, they have a big episode coming up and I am beyond excited.

I love their dynamic. I think it's cute that both actors are the middle of 3 same-sex siblings. And tiny. I feel like they have a lot of shared experiences.
