Alastor is someone who focuses only on the things he truly likes.

He loves radio and dreamed of becoming a radio host, so he worked hard through his own efforts. He wanted to achieve it through his own abilities, he wanted to become a radio host through by his person.

When he arrived in Hell, all he wanted was to keep enjoying himself. He didn’t really care about power or authority. The proof is that he only asked Rosie for enough power so he wouldn’t be oppressed or tortured, just so he could continue having fun. He never asked to become stronger than anyone else, it was Rosie who said she would make him the most powerful sinner.

He keeps undercutting everything Vox has done by saying he didn't actually do it, someone else did it and Vox just took/is taking advantage of it

I've seen people defend Vox, saying that it still takes and admirable amount of power, charisma, and thought to not only come up with this plan in the first place, but also convince all these people to aid him

And they are not wrong, it is impressive Vox was able to do all this, and he deserves some credit for it

What irritates me though, is when people call Alastor a hypocrite or complain about his points, when the entire reason he is saying them is to MANIPULATE VOX

Whether Alastor actually beleives what he is saying is irrelevant, the point is he knows Vox will take whatever he says seriously, that's why he's saying it

Like do y'all forget he's driving a wedge between the Vees? Trying to make Vox unhinged, push him to make a mistake? And it worked

I get not everyone loves Alastor as much as I do, but you have to remember that everything he does is calculated, he's not saying that stuff to waste his breath, he is saying because he knows Vox will adjust his plan in an attempt to appease Alastor and what he thinks Alastor would approve of

I'll say it before, and I'll say it again, that is Vox's downfall

If at any point he had just disregarded what Alastor was saying, said "yeah, my plan relied on other people, but I was the one that made the plan and put all the peices in place, fuck off" he would have been fine, that might have actually gotten him some respect from Alastor (though he'd never say)

Instead he continues to cater and pander to Alastor, desperately trying to gain approval, never realizing that that pandering is a large part of why Alastor will never give it

Yes, Vox deserves credit for his master plan

Alastor's plan was clever, not because of his wordplay technicalities, but because he managed to do two things at once(maybe more, he's multitasking). He drove a wedge between the Vees, which led to their(mostly Vox's) downfall(and consequently Charlie's success, so maybe a third goal?), but more important to Alastor was that he freed himself without anyone knowing he did it.

Alastor has the ability to recognize who will act exactly as he wants, who would do it thinking it is a challenge, and who will do the exact opposite of what he says.

And the best part is that nobody can be sure, the only one who is is Alastor because he is the only one who knows exactly what he is thinking.

For him, there would be nothing sadder and more boring than becoming predictable.

This is the latest i'm posting a part... it's 9:25 as i'm starting to write this, and i'll probably finish by 10:00... No i did not sleep. I just wanted to get this part out ASAP, i hope you see why.

you can just see how putting Vox in his place heals Alastor's soul a little. Though, he understands that this may have complicated his plan, and keeping Vox oblivious to date being wrong...

But in any case, Vox got reminded why he fell in love with Alastor in the first place... and what he broke...

I don't normally do Just Characters Swearing, but. ...this kind of wrote itself and then wouldn't leave my head. it comes from both a piece of character-writing advice that has always stuck with me, and also my conviction that Leona is 1000% funnier as a character if his dialogue has to stay G-rated. let Kalim say fuck, but don't let Leona say bastard.

I do like the idea that Malleus adopted the snake, and let's say subsequently every other snake he found hanging out around his wardrobe. (it's not that many but, you know, more than you tend to get in other dorms.) and while Goyle is an incredibly cute name for a snek, I feel like he would be VERY into the idea of namesakes. a noble and traditional practice. he shall choose the most important names he can think of with which to honor these humble creatures who have chosen to share his home with him.

Woah it's not even 5 in the morning im earrrlyyy (who cares its white nights here at this time of the year and the sun is almost up already). um, anyway-

made this for some people that keep asking these. Mostly in tiktok, but sometimes here as well.

was debating on the last page, if i even should add it. It had different text, and even different setting, but it was too similar to the previous page... and then i sketched this and people in discord were destroyed, ao i was like, okay im adding that in.

I... i honestly lost the logic of Alastor's time manipulation, but it's there trust, i'm just dumb, and i could grasp the logic of that plan only for a short time, that was enough to sketch everything out, and then i lost it.

But basically, Alastor cut out 2 days, so if Vox catches on the leap year thing, Al would still have one day for safety. Or if vox suspected that Alastor somehow messed with calendars (which he did) and decided to wait one more day. But basically Alastor was pretending the whole year that he's not planning to look for any ways out, and kept playing the docile boyfriend role, so Vox wouldn't be suspicious.

And he even found some random alcoholic to chellenge Vox and make him drink to blackout (Vox knows Alastor has higher Alcohol tolerance and if Alastor would suggest a challenge, he would be suspicious of it)

I even had a whole scene in my head with said alcoholic and Alastor hiring him, bit then i decided that the comic doesn't need 10 pages of backstory for this random guy, so it never made it even in the first draft. Basically it's all in the dialogue, but in case you didn't get it because of course someone didn't: his wife sold his child for some drugs, and he made a deal with Alastor that Alastor would put her on the broadcast for a favour in return.

Usually Alastor doesn't do "requests" or even "commissions" (lol) because like. First of, radio is his form of art, his hobby, and he knows better than anyone when you try to make a profit out of your hobby, it stops being a hobby. That's why i don't do commissions too, haha. But in this case he's really despearte, and doesn't have much to offer to a random alcoholic he doesn't know, and being the asking position isn't his style.

Also, at this point i realised that to most people in hell in the alvox relationships Alastor is the predator, taking advantage of this cute naive newby in hell (10 years being dead is nothing) (Alastor has been dead for just slightly over 30 years, and in scale of eternal suffering it's also nothing, but people tend to forget that because of his power).

Somewhere like 60 years later, on r/radiodemon someone asks "how bad of a person you should be for TRD call you a monster?". Theories, theories...
