Asexuals were always part of pride and it really fucking shows when people think it's a recent term.
Although not going by the term "asexual" yet, asexuality was spoken about alongside homosexuality as far back as the 1890s. Asexual history is just as vital to queer history as any other term and I'm so tired of watching us being treated like a new thing
This image is so so fucking important to me
Reblog this, cowards
Well happy pride month to this anon and the terrible pun
Aspec Glossary: Flux
What is the Aspec Glossary?
-flux is a microlabel suffix that indicates that the person in question experiences attraction of that type to a fluctuating degree. This can mean that they fluctuate between multiple identities while always remaining on the associated a-spectrum, or between being allo and aspec, etc.
Arofluxes may fluctuate between multiple identities or levels of attraction while always remaining on the aromantic spectrum (for example, fluctuating between being a green-stripe aromantic and demiromantic), or they may fluctuate between being aromantic and alloromantic, etc.
Acefluxes may fluctuate between multiple identities or levels of attraction while always remaining on the asexual spectrum (for example, fluctuating between being a black-stripe asexual and demisexual), or they may fluctuate between being asexual and allosexual, etc.
Aroacefluxes (Afluxes) are both aroflux and aceflux.
Aplfluxes may fluctuate between multiple identities or levels of attraction while always remaining on the aplatonic spectrum (for example, fluctuating between being a blue-stripe aplatonic and demiplatonic), or they may fluctuate between being aplatonic and alloplatonic, etc.
Someone can also be afamflux, asenflux, etc.
I love ace ppl bc they’re like you know you don’t have to right. And it’s true. you dontttttt have to
[ As long as people don’t know about asexuality—hell, forget about the label, so long as they don’t know that saying no forever and for any reason and in any context is okay—sex education, sex therapy, and popular depictions of sex are incomplete and people don’t have the relevant information to fully consent. Sexual rights should not be assumed and self-determination must never end upon entering a relationship. You can give a no with zero caveats in each and every situation, full stop. You can say no if someone loves you and you love them back. You can say no for the rest of your life. ]

they were so funny for this
MARK THE DAMN DATE
my main takeaway from that post is that the "asexuals should be put in meat grinders" crowd didn't actually go away they just got quieter
it really is crazy how hearing the word "aphobia" makes the compassion just immediately drain out of people like a plug got pulled in the soles of their feet. ace people can talk about our experiences with ostracisation and medicalisation and corrective rape and abusive relationships and assault and conversion therapy and familial rejection and societal pressure and self-hatred and loneliness and erasure and lack of representation, and everyone agrees that those things are bad. but the second the word "aphobia" is mentioned people are instantly just falling over themselves in their desperation to Commit To The Bit
People need to understand that the point ISN’T “being single is not a failure if you’re aromantic”, the point is being single is not a failure full stop.
You can be allo and be single; it’s allowed. You feeling attraction doesn’t mean your priority NEEDS to be finding romance (it can be! But it also can not).
Being single should be normalized no matter what your romantic/sexual orientation is. It isn’t a tragedy.
Adding to this with the infuriating way people infantilise aromantic individuals. I've experienced it personally when meeting up with old friends/sort-of friends from school and if I happen to mention that I'm arospec (or even when they see I'm trans and go all condescending based on that alone) and suddenly I'm being treated like I'm years younger than I am, or like I can't/don't understand sex jokes or the concepts of relationships in general. It really pisses me off.
aroace nonbinary people you are everything to me. shout out to the bitches who just said "nah i'm not doing any of that"
EDIT: This meme is not about aroace people who are sex/date favorable. It's about the people who are constantly using "aroace can still date/have sex" to erase the representation of aroaces that don't feel that way. I don't believe romance/sex repulsed aroaces are better or "superior" to those who are.

It's easier to accept that you're aromantic once you understand that what you want isn't romance per se and it's really the companionship that appeals to you. I never actually liked the thought of being in a relationship but I liked the thought of being important to someone
i angst for love and to be loved and as an aroace this is confusing but i think ive decided fuck yall i can do what i want
did JK Rowling tweet weird acephobia things recently or is that something i made up in a dream
oh my god it is real
terminally online joanne needs a hobby fr because why is she so invested in the lgbtq+ community like this
next she’ll be going after the bisexuals i reckon
Happy International Asexuality Day, Black Asexuals! 🖤🩶🤍💜
Yasmin Benoit helped to co-found this day in 2021 to celebrate the asexual identity and ace experiences. I have to be honest and say given recent events I'm not in the celebrating mood, but I'm still gonna try to boost Black asexuality today just like every other day. Creating Black ace spaces and content is important because we're the only ones who can. Just like Yasmin, we have to create the Black ace representation that we want and need. We are the representation. Don't be afraid to take up space and speak your truth. Don't shrink yourself to make mainstream bigger ace spaces more comfortable. Don't feel like you have to downplay or 'fix' your Blackness for anybody ace or not. And most importantly, have a great day!
an aroace, aro, or ace person saying “aro/ace people can still be in relationships and have sex”
non aro/ace person saying “aro/ace people can still be in relationships and have sex” (they’re about to use it to justify shipping/discriminating against aro/ace people)
